An impressive building on the main street through Tideswell and one of many good pubs in the area. The bar area is a bit small but there is plenty of good seating and a few benches out side. The food was good but I was a little disappointed with the choice of real ale on the day but what I... More

Room 1 is quite spacious. Bed comfortable and shower was good. We were well looked after during our 4 night stay. Breakfasts were good. Had 3 evening meals during our stay and they were all good. Service was good. They had 2 real ales on which were in great condition each evening. Everyone was friendly. We will stay again if... More

After our official stop as part of l'eroica we decided that this place looked too tempting so we had an unofficial stop here. Great service, great price and great pint. We shall make it our unofficial stop again next year.

We had a good pub food lunch. Varied menu and reasonable prices. Good service, the food was served quickly. Locals tend to hog the bar which is typical of a village pub. A few benches are available at the front where there is also ample parking.

Room 4 and bathroom huge. However both very cold with no hot water without running the taps for ages . There was a storage heater provided which took 12 hours to warm the room to an acceptable temperature. Many Dog hairs found on single bed luckily we didn't have to use it , super king sized bed was comfortable and... More

Booked this hotel for next weekend and sent an email with a dietary request. Got a lovely reply immediately from Paige at the hotel saying what they could do. I replied with thanks and praise for promptness and got an equally lovely and modest reply saying that all the hotel staff aim to make guests have 'an exceptional experience'. A... More

We spent a week in Hayfield recently and really enjoyed the area. We had two meals in The George, both were excellent. The pub has a great atmosphere and was very busy but we were served quickly both times. The staff are friendly and make you very welcome. We will definitely be retuning.

Stayed for a few nights for work, had a great breakfast each day, spacious comfortable room and friendly staff. Nice place to spend your time in the evenings and really good quality pub food. I'm sure I'll be back and would be perfect for tourists also

When we arrived a friendly lady showed us to our room, which was fine for the price paid £70 inc. Breakfast, clean, comfortable, agree with comments re TV ( which when mentioned ion checking out the guy seemed to suggest might be the operators! No apology..) Was hoping for log fire, great British inn atmosphere, the outside picture does not... More

stayed in a cottage just around the corner during a very wet and windy weekend, the George offered a warm welcome and great food at the end of 2 long enjoyable days walking. The pie of the week hit the spot and the Sunday roast ticked all the boxes; didn't stay in the hotel but if the food is anything... More
