Staying for long weekend in cottage nearby, went for a couple of drinks Saturday evening. Pouring with rain but welcoming staff and roaring wood burner. 4 or 5 real ales on.Tried a couple which were well kept. Came back to eat Sunday evening with a party of 8 adults, one a wheelchair user, and 3 small children. Staff could not... More

I stayed one night here on my way up to the Dales. Warm, efficient welcome from friendly staff; great local atmosphere in the bar; wide range of beers; outstandingly good evening meal; comfortable room (4 poster in room 1); very tasty cooked breakfast. I will definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for the weekend and had a lovely peaceful break. We stayed in room 5 which was on the first floor although the room was very small and cosy we had everything we needed for the weekend. On our first night we stayed in the B&B and decided to have our evening meal home made steak & kidney pie... More

Good honest pub grub. Very good service, good portions, varied beer and good value for money especially as 20% was taken off the food bill as it was immediately after NY! No reason to go anywhere else for this type of offering.

Just returned from a walking weekend in Hathersage, Derbyshire. The inn was a great place to stay. All the staff were helpful and friendly, room comfortable and warm on the first cold night of the winter. We ate dinner and breakfast and both were brilliant. Would recommend and hope to return soon.

Been going to Stanage since the mid 60's - and only just called in on this place this year... for an afternoon meal when it was too wet to climb. So impressed we decided a night for a bit of a birthday treat - meal, stay over. Weather was truly pants - but a very warm reception on arrival mid... More

As I live local, Sheffield, I went in here with 4 friends after a morning walk. On entering you are greeted with a sign "no muddy boots", the barman was finishing getting the till ready and said "won't be a minute" , then he turned round ,took one look with his sour face and said "no dogs". One of our... More

This is a proper, traditional pub: sunlight streams in through leaded windows, lighting up a very long, wood-panelled room and a convenient central bar. An enterprising selection of handpump ales featured Ringwood Boondoggle served in perfect condition. We started lunch, appropriately enough, with very tasty Scotch eggs served piping hot with a little lidded pot of homemade piccalilli- a very... More

3 points: Service, food and environment, all very good. I was first of all really impressed by the easy going hospitality of the staff at the Scotsmann's Pack. We were a group of 15 adults and we arrived late to our table in dribs and drabs on a Saturday night in July. We were made to feel welcome at all... More

We recently stayed at the Pack and had a wonderful time. Everything was as we had hoped, lovely room, great food and friendly and helpful staff. I can only recommend it to anyone considering a stay in the Peak District.
