Stayed in a family room on two occasions over the easter weekend while on a back packing trip. The hostel was open all day and we were allowed to use the facilities and park before our check in time. The lounge, library, self catering kitchen, reception and all areas were clean and comfortable and refurbished. All areas warm and welcoming...

Stayed here for one night in an en suite family room- located in the adjacent mews section. Room was clean and bathroom spotless- shower curtain was a bit grubby. Toilet roll provided. Main house was spacious. Large kitchen (some guests did not have much hygeine though, for example handling raw meat and not washing their hands). Free wifi in the...

Visited for weekend a lovely warm welcome, staff couldn't do enough for us. Great location, quiet, peaceful a good walk to Castleton centre. Had a two bed ensuite room which was lovely, great comfy beds and plenty of electric sockets for gadgets! Lovely breakfast served with a cheery smile, great value. Will stay again.

Losehill Hall is probably one of the nicest Youth hostel buildings that I have ever seen. The old style hall is magnificent! Rooms are nice and have everything that you wish for (everything is clean). It does not feel like a real youth hostel as I was the only youth there (if you do not count children age 5-12). It...

Great location in lovely grounds. Wonderful staircases, fireplaces, and wood burning stoves. Couldn't fault it. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good value full breakfast. Would avoid school holidays if not travelling with children, as this was a very child friendly hostel. Kids having a great time.

Fantastic facilities, lovely location - a brilliant hostel. We stayed in an ensure room in the main building. Our room was comfortable. The communal areas were large and characterful - they were also well cared for and maintained (not always the case with youth hostels in my experience). The self-catering kitchen was spacious and pleasant to use. Slightly light on...

Half term holiday break with 2 children. Staff were fantastic and the breakfasts were even better. Modern, clean, and warm, yet located in a beautiful old building full of charm and character. The walking route to Mam Tor starts and finishes in the carpark so all in all a perfect YHA. I will be back soon

Our first time at a hostel with our children . We were delighted . Rooms are basic but with cosy log burners , great breakfast , welcoming staff this has got us thinking about future hostel stays . Such excellent value for money and an excellent base from which to discover the area .

Thanks for the lovely review - definitely needed the log burners on a wet weekend like this. See you again soon I hope.

Took three generations of our family for a few days of fresh air. The location is ideal for walking with plenty of scenery. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean with hot showers and plenty of room. The kids loved it just having the run of the place and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A fiver for a...
