Booked for a weekend break with my wife, given what could only be described as a box room over the kitchens. Constant banging from which we were told was a faulty kitchen door. Noise stopped for thirty minutes after complaint on first afternoon then forced us out of room early evening . Asked on second evening if anything was going...

First the good points the food we received was very nice, there was 7 of us and we ordered separately in sets of 3. The gentleman on the bar was very nice and put it to come out at the same time for us. We thought we had paid for 2 lots of chips, and when the rest of the...

My 80 year old dad had a meal today 25th Jan lunchtime. The sausage tasted very odd, seemed off. My daughter tasted it and said immediately the same. Clearly not right. The chef and staff were most unpleasant, disagreed, refused to refund and made my old dad really upset, he's still upset this evening. What an awful experience at a...

Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Food was great. Ordered fish and pie and kids food. Was great value for money. Very busy place. Lots of walkers. Friendly staff. Looks like there might be a hotel upstairs

Came here for a light lunch, and was impressed with the service, value & food quality. We ordered the Derbyshire Beef with Stilton ciabatta. The beef was lovely. All in all a nice friendly pub, excellent value for money 🖒.

Sadly a pretty poor experience. Another Peak District pub trading off the location rather than quality of cooking. It wasn't disastrous, just depressingly average. The inside of the pub is perfectly acceptable and we found a decent table for 4 of us. Criticism as follows: - very average food. 2 of us ordered a fairly tasteless and chewy school dinner...

This is a pub / restaurant / hotel in the lovely village of Castleton. We visited here one lunchtime. The pub is well situated in the middle of the village, and once inside is comfortable and well decorated. The beers were good but we didn't feel inspired to stay for lunch - nothing I can pinpoint but it lacks a...

This is the first time we have visited this lovely pub and it won't be the last. We enjoyed the food very much and it was very reasonable. The staff were very pleasant and the pub was spotlessly clean. It was lovely to sit by an open fire on a very chilly day. Recommended.

We stopped off here after a day out and it looked really nice. Unfortunately when we went in we were spoken to abruptly and told we were standing in the wrong place and should be at the bar. We obediently moved to the bar only to be told we should be standing at the restaurant entrance (where we'd previously been)....

Stayed here for two nights re-living a visit to Castleton 30 odd years ago. The town hasn't changed and is stunning. This accommodation is very tastefully decorated, great views, great hot drink making options, fabulous shower, comfortable bed and great breakfast menu (you won't go hungry!). The meal that we had for dinner one evening (open fish pie) was also...
