#6 of 8 hotels in Castle Donington
Set in a tranquil and stunning location on the banks of the River Trent, The Priest House's history is a rich one that can be traced back almost 1,000 years. Built around a mill tower with its very own water wheels, this 42 bedroom hotel is perfectly placed for a romantic break, an exclusive conference venue or a picture perfect wedding. We've hand-picked a fine selection of food and drink to compliment the charm and romance of our English Countryside setting. New as of July 2019 - Our "Kings Mill" Al Fresco, freshly made to order Pizza riverside bar is now open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 6pm to 10pm, 12 noon to 10pm Saturday and Sunday Booking advisable

We were really excited to stay for Download Festival, we unfortunately had breakfast everyday practically still breathing, manager refused to even compensate some sort of refund as I had to extend my check out being so ill from the food which cost me £50 extra. There was no cleaning service so there was a build up of plates and food everywhere which wasn’t great. The receptionist is really nice , but we received calls 6am telling us we were incorrectly told about room service and had to come down to the restaurant. Generally a lot of miscommunication, no resolution or sympathy from the manager for things that weren’t our fault so I’m absolutely gutted & going home with food poisoning

We spent 2 nights here on a TravelZoo deal for my wife's birthday over a very hot and sunny weekend. Our room was on the ground floor at the side facing the car park and overall was very good but attention to detail was lacking. The bed was very comfortable, the decor reasonable and the bathroom looked newly tiled and painted. (Some masking tape still around the door frame. Excellent shower. Negatives were a very worn/stained carpet, only 4 coat hangers, although attachments for 6, no drawers in the bedside tables and no fitting in the light above the sink which made using the excellent mirror almost useless. We couldn't find a switch to make the extractor work. Although a very modern sink, there was no place to put soap, and as it was a bar, rather than liquid soap we had to use a cut up bag, to stop it sliding around. There were also no glasses or tumblers for water/toothbrushes. Silly niggles but avoidable! The restaurant was not used for dinner and the bar menu was limited with OK food but expensive for pub grub. Breakfast in the restaurant was good and plentiful but had to be ordered the night before. The grounds were very pleasant and plenty of outside seating. 10 minutes away in Castle Donnington is Orissa, the best Indian restaurant we have ever eaten in and superb for a Saturday night birthday meal.

Booked using a Buyagift Voucher - and received such exceptionally good service from the onset. The booking process and communication was excellent. On arriving we were shown to our table - and was promptly attended to by the lovely gentleman/server. We were served our drinks and this was soon followed by our delightful afternoon tea. The scones were still warm. The gentleman even came and found us with our carry out cake box. Lovely relaxing afternoon in wonderful surroundings We will be back Thanks to you all - particularly to the gentleman server

The hotel is in a lovely location , the room was nicely decorated and well equipped and spotless. The main restaurant was very nice and modern but sadly was only in use for breakfast , which was very good ,so the evening food was served in the bar area . The menu was very basic and I’m afraid so was the food . There is a patio and outside seating area off the bar which is a sun trap in the afternoon. The whole outside of the hotel could do with a good tidy up and a bit of TLC to be honest , as it’s such a beautiful setting , Just to mainly give it some kerb appeal . It all looked a bit neglected from the outside .The staff were friendly and helpful . Overall this was a very nice hotel and we would definitely stay here again.

Located on the river Trent a real find, excellent service the staff an absolute credit they really could not do enough to assist you, we had our little dogs and stayed in a ground floor cottage room which was immaculately clean with everything you need, we ate outside both evenings we did take outdoor citronella candles to use at dinner, as being on the river you do get some insects.
