Called in lunchtime today with a couple of friends after a good walk in the lovely countryside surrounding the pub. I ordered a hot beef and onion sandwich at a cost of £5.95. All our sandwiches arrived within 5 minutes of ordering, and it soon became obvious why. I had two pieces of dried up beef (obviously left over from...

Visited here on Boxing Day, very busy with families and walkers, good that dogs are allowed. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food however wasn't up to scratch, my partners steak and ale pie had a crust that was overbaked and hard and my gnocchi was pretty tasteless, also one of our party had to ask 3 times for...

I stayed in the b & b part of the pub over new year and all I can say is it's brilliant and can't wait to go back. The rooms are basic but are very clean and have everything you need including free wifi. The pub itself is a real find, old style with open fires, lovely food and a...

Really enjoyed our treat of a night here with our son who was home for Christmas. Very nice evening meal, excellent food, presented well. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great and good quality again. Ideal position for a walk round Ladybower Dam the next morning to ease the guilt. Will book again .:-)

The food here is absolutely brilliant. I'm never disappointed and can't recommend it enough. I think it's family run which really shows - the staff are always pleasant and welcoming. Bonus points for being dog friendly! 10 out of 10.

We that is my wife and I decided to go back as we enjoyed the first visit so much we decided to stay over. We booked a meal for 4 o'clock and boy what a meal I had Italian style ribs for starters and my wife had scotch egg. Ribs were super soft in a rich herby spicy sauce and...

We booked two rooms for Saturday night one for myself and wife and one for my son and daughter in law with their dog. On arrival we were advised if eating that night to reserve a table which was good advice. We walked around the reservoir taking in the views and arrived back to a nice clean and warm room,...

I requested to go here for my birthday lunch with my husband as we'd been before and enjoyed it. It didn't disappoint this time either. We both had fish and chips, which was well presented and cooked. The plates are bigger or the portions are smaller either way there was sufficient. Service has improved massively. ..(we waited an hour last...

This place can only be popular by dint of its location rather than its customer service. The young barman never cracked a smile for anyone he served and the person who brought us our sandwiches all but threw them onto the table before disappearing swiftly with barely a word exchanged. The food was fine and the beer good. It's over...

Dear JS I am very disappointed our staff were not up to scratch on Saturday and apologise if your experience was not as good as we would want it to be. I will ensure that the staff involved will be given some extra coaching on customer service. Thank you for your feedback and if you ever do decide to visit...

Superb place to start and finish walks with the warm atmosphere to return to from the top of the hills/moor/reservoir walk or up to the big dam wall. This venue was chosen as I had visited Lady Bower Reservoir one year with my parents many years ago when you could actually see the buildings in the bottom - not so...
