Food and menu are exceptional. Friendly and welcoming staff. We will definitely come again for our 3rd visit. IT IS A MUST TRY VENUE. Really good value for money with a good wine selection. The accommodation is just as good. The riverside setting is next to the Dove with pleasant walk nearby.

Rooms are desperately in need of refurbishment. Space is very cramped in the bedroom and bathroom. Fittings have been changed without proper re decoration. Beds are so small that it is difficult to lie flat if there are 2 of you in the bed. Decor is old fashioned, twee and tasteless. TVs are set so high up they are impossible...

I would like to reply to your review: You came to us through an online booking agency and so when you get down to the bottom line for £50 on a premium weekend night, you were provided with a very clean double room with full en-suite bathroom facilities and full English breakfast for 2. You are quite correct, we have...

Stayed overnight in a delightful clean room. Very comfortable bed. Good heating on a cold night. Very helpful and friendly staff. The whole place is very smart, clean and well maintained with a good bar and comfortable seating. For any further stays in Ashbourne we would certainly choose this pub for overnight accomodation.

I visited recently with my family for my 21st birthday. We had lunch, dinner and then stayed overnight and had breakfast. All of the food was wonderful. Everybody was impressed with what they ordered! I am severely allergic to hazelnuts and one of the deserts contained it but didn't say. Luckily a cousin of mine tasted that the doughnuts contained...

Bank Holiday Monday. Sunshine! Dovedale called .. and was glorious in the sunshine. Off to Tissington for lunch - crowded out! Remembered we'd stayed at The Royal Oak in 2015 for my wife's birthday and food had been terrific ... so off we set! Just fabulous! Very welcoming; unfussy, attentive professional service. First class food. Generous helping of mouth-watering chicken...

Stayed 2 nights. Just great. Would return. We had a room at the back of the pub, which had, as you would expect, creaky floorboard noise. No problem to us, although there are rooms in a new bedroom building just across the car park which would probably be quieter. The pub could not be heard.

Have just had 2 nights here & found it to be a very good choice. We have visited Ashbourne many times in the last 15 years but have never stayed here before. Lovely room (5) over the yard from main building. Very big, very clean & lovely big, fluffy white towels, which I have to say you don't get in...

Stayed here for one night B&B and evening meal. Accommodation was comfortable, WiFi good and loads of parking. Food was good, posh pub grub. Prices for accommodation and food were very reasonable. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. We will stay here again.
