Stayed at the self-catering cottage rather than the B&B itself. Cottage was lovely and quaint and had everything we needed for the week we stayed there. The surrounding area is so beautiful and this was the perfect base not only for the (very tiring!) trek up Scafell Pike, but also a short walk from Wasdale Head Inn for a well...

I was really impressed. I was travelling alone so needed somewhere that was easy to find and close to where I'd be walking. It couldn't be much closer! Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent cooked breakfast. Amazing value.

I used thus as a base for a photography trip for a few days. The surrounding location is absolutely stunning and there is no need to venture away from the farm in order to find stunning scenery; indeed one of the beautiful landscape images on my living room wall was taken from the yard. The accommodation was warm, friendly and...

Burnthwaite Farm was our first stopover on the Coast 2 Coast. Walked up from Seascale on the Atlantic Ocean and the Wasdale valley is a great first day's introduction to walking 20 miles a day through the Lake District. The farming family are very friendly and helpful, the room was perfectly decent with an en suite bathroom. The location is...

Very comfortable and clean accommodation in a magnificent setting. Warm friendly welcome - our second visit since Andrew Grace took over this B&B and working farm. Excellent full English breakfast. Comfortable sitting room with TV, books etc and a log burning stove. Recommend highly. Just a short walk from Wasdale Head Inn where you will find a great bar serving...

Lovely old farmhouse from the 1600s, in the most ideal situation for a walking holiday, the most stunning scenery but people must realise you dont get the tv /wifi / phone signal etc we all crave today. If you want to get away from it all and meet lovely fellow walkers, get fed well at breakfast and Andrews porridge is...

Stayed one night on walking trip round Lakes. My mate had stayed before and loves it. Andrew is a top bloke - really enthusiastic welcome. Best porridge of the trip without a doubt. No frills but excellent place to stay. Recommend the packed lunch.

We have just returned from a truly wonderful stay at Burnthwaite Farm. It really is such a beautiful, heart-warming place. Andrew was an incredible host and he went out of his way to help my friend and I as we prepared (a little nervously) for our trek up Scafel Pike. The breakfast was delicious, there's a lovely communal living room...

This is the second time I've stayed here whilst motor cycling. Its a lovely place to stay. You couldn't be made more welcome by the owners. Room was spotless and plenty of tea and coffee. Theres a great sitting room with a lovely fire. Breakfast was great. If you're a walker then this really is the place to stay. Couldn't...

There is not another property that I've stayed at in the Lake District that can outmatch the Burnthwaite Farm. Everything is fantastic here. The initial contact, the welcome, the staff, the rooms, the beds, the coal fire, the lounge area, the food and the packed lunches. And it is the best value property that we know of. £31 per person...
