All the reviews are absolutely correct. John and Martin are kind, attentive hosts who go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Our room was very comfortable with a splendid new bathroom. Breakfasts were beautifully cooked and very tasty. The house is in a good location near to the centre of Ulverston which is a most pleasant small... More

We arrived quite early on a Saturday where there was Carnival in Ulverston and got our room immediately. There was everything we needed for a good night and the fantastic decoration in the bathroom was a lovely addition which we enjoyed. Brekkie the next morning was typical English and good and as it was our first for this vacation we... More

Only one night but I wished it was more. Perfect host, room, breakfast. So if you are ever in Ulverston or anywhere near this is the place to stay. Ulverston of course is the birth place of Stan Laurel and there are lots of pubs and restaurants too and with Ulverston on the edge of the Lake District National park... More

Stayed in CWH for 3 non-consecutive weeks last year when I was over for work. The townhouse looks great from the outside and the inside didn't disappoint either! The rooms were spacious and comfortable with a real touch of class while the breakfast was as good as you'll get with the poached eggs particularly outstanding. Martin was a fantastic host... More

We stayed here prior to commencing the Cumbrian way. We were instantly welcomed into the house and given many great recommendations for evening food. The accommodation itself was neat and well presented. We also had the most delicious breakfast of beautifully poached eggs and "secret recipe" mushrooms that prepared us well for our Cumbrian way walk. Thanks again for your... More

We stayed here for one night after completing the Keswick to Barrow walk. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and friendly. Breakfast was also fantastic. This particular B&B stood out to us because it didn't insist on a two night minimum stay, particularly as we only needed one night to recover from the walk before heading out of Cumbria. This... We had not booked our stay here so had no idea what to expect, but were extremely lucky.the accommodation is a lovely old building which is very homely and welcoming inside.it is also very clean.we couldn't have asked for nicer hosts, and nothing was too much trouble. We were fortunate to get the room with the amazing lights in the bathroom,... More

We stayed here for one night only, we wish it could have been more! John and Martin are so welcoming and friendly (they even delayed their holiday so as not to have to cancel our booking); the house itself is full of character and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious and my Mum and Dad had a lovely stay in particular,... More

I stay here often when I visit the manjushri Buddhist centre for courses as Martin and John always add to the special experience with their kindness and attentiveness The bed for our beautiful ensuite was super comfortable and if you are lucky you may be able to persuade Martin to share his breakfast mushrooms recipie - delicious 😀

This was our second stay at the Church Walk House and was even better then our previous visit as we had a family room on the upper floor which had the benefit of rear aspects so away from the noise from the pub opposite. Our hosts John and Martin treat their visitors as long lost friends which might be the... More
