We were only able to stay on Sunday night 4 September, but what a good find. The pub is a quaint oak beamed village pub with great atmosphere and friendly obliging staff giving excellent service. We were in Room 4 which is a spacious well appointed family room with a double and two single beds. The beds were very comfortable... More

Popped in tonight on way home from a drive out for the day. Last time I'd been here was around 30 or so years ago! The games room is long gone and is now an area for eating but I have to say the food was excellent, as were the surroundings and general atmosphere. The only thing that marred our... More

Great service, good food well priced and a lovely setting. Rooms a little dated but very old in and lovely beams in the rooms. Outside area lovely views. Brakfast was delicious and very efficient. All in all great value.

We only stayed one night because we were visiting friends in the area. It was a delightful stay - everyone was so friendly and welcoming, the bed was very comfortable, shower was good and the room very clean. I can't comment on the food because we went to our friends' home but breakfast was delicious; made to order and not... More

We stayed one night here with our dog. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Room was clean and modern with spectacular views of surrounding countryside. We had our Saturday evening meal in the bar where our dog was also welcome. Great quality food and huge portions. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection of items which were served quickly. The village... More

Lovely old Inn with very accommodating staff. Food was fantastic, hearty and plenty, just what was needed after a day on Coniston old man. Lots of hot water and a lovely comfortable room. Would recommend a stay here and most defiantly a meal.

spent 2 nights here after a week on narrowboat Falkirk to Edinburgh (so much fun, by the way). This is an excellent old traditional pub with a few rooms to let out. Don't go expecting modern, Mercure standard facilities. Instead, look out for ancient beams, crooked floors, real fires and so on. Just perfect. Breakfast is really excellent and to... More

Excellent "proper" country pub. We were struggling to decide what to eat until we saw the steak and Guinness pie brought out. Problem solved ! It really was excellent although the other food looked equally good. The real ales were very god and the Royal Reserve Ale from Ulveston was excellent. Staff were very friendly. One minor comment more than... More

Had a great couple of days at the White Hart. Room three has loads of character with signs of the age of the building, fabulous. Fully recommend the Cumbrian breakfast ahead of your day out. Notice the old saws and farming tools. At the end of your day relax in the bar with a quality meal and a pint or... More
