After a long drive it was nice to go into the hotel to two real fires and a warm room (bathroom got a bit too warm). Room was a good size and bed comfy. Decent cooked breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. For a price they provide a packed lunch which would be ideal for walkers or in my case a... More

We stayed at the hotel for 1 night, and were greeted with a warm welcome. The hotel is in a beautiful location, the views are amazing as you sit by the log fire with drink in hand. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. Breakfast was nice, cereals, full montys or they would accommodate your other breakfast needs.... More

Our room (6) has a separate kids sleeping area away from the main room which was a great feature. .hotel is really nice but not really near any pubs or anything of interest so you have to drive a couple of miles to the nearby Ambleside which is amazing with loads of bars and cafes. ..lovely place. Gym is excellent.... More

Visited in August with my girlfriend. Room in the new wing, nice.? NO.!! Could hear everyone, and everything, couldn't sleep a wink. Would have been quieter living with a noisy poltergeist. Lackluster and uninspiring breakfast. Glad we only stopped the 1 night. Went out of the way to go here, what was i thinking. I'll stick with the Mill Inn... More

Very friendly, accommodating and helpful staff. Very nice, well furnished, well heated and comfortable bedroom with very nice clean bathroom. The main hotel building has some nice period features. Situated in a fantastic part of the lakes. All round very good and no complaints.

A group of 19 friends took over the whole hotel for a weekend walking trip. We climbed Scafell Pike on the Saturday (in the rain) and Harter Fell on the Sunday (in the sunshine). The warm welcome, delicious food, hot showers and well stocked bar were all much appreciated. The rooms were all very comfortable and the whole hotel was... More

Lovely room, good food, excellent friendly service. It’s a great location near Wastwater in Nether Wasdale, a tiny village with 2 pubs. There’s a fantastic view of the fells from the dining room - one evening, in the last 15 minutes before the sun set, we watched the colours of the fells gradually change from almost black to a bright... Pleasant hotel in the Lakes , friendly staff although young girl on reception could probably do with a course in Customer Relations!! ,the room itself was clean and decor was ok, The shower wasn't great trying to turn the shower on you don't expect the handle to come off in your hand !! When it was finally running it wasn't... More

Whilst at the top of Whin Rigg last year,my husband took plenty of photographs and having looked through them once we were back home we noticed a small white speck on a couple of them looking very much like a hotel. For ten months we tried to find the name of this hotel but failed. Two weeks ago we were... More
