The Hotel is surrounded by a wealth of history, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, such as Leighton Moss, and a wide range of visitor attractions Milnthorpe has a long history - its busy Friday street market in the Square dates from 1334. The village's heyday was from the middle of the eighteenth to the middle of the nineteenth centuries when many of the buildings in the centre of the village (now a conservation area) were completed including the present Cross Keys Hotel. When the turnpike road between Kendal and Lancaster was constructed through the village nearly two hundred years ago Milnthorpe became an important staging post and the Cross Keys gained a fine reputation as a coaching inn with stabling for 36 horses

Stayed here enroute to Glasgow and were happy with our stay. Room was clean if a little tired but the bed was super comfy. Spent the evening in the bar and had a very nice meal served by lovely staff. Breakfast was also very good. Overall good value for a short stay.

Staff were friendly and efficient. Excellent breakfast. Basic room but clean and well presented. Excellent value for money. Only negative was lack of pressure from electric shower. Excellent location, very small quiet village with friendly locals.

Hi Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Your feedback is important to us as it highlights gaps in our staff knowledge. Paying cash upon check in shouldn't have happened and breakfast service shouldn't have run how it did. Your comments have been taken on board and fed back to the team to resolve. Thanks Mat Country Village Inns

This was a one night stay. Unfortunately, our en-suite double room was at the front of the hotel, on the corner of a very busy road junction. The windows were equipped with secondary glazing, however the road traffic noise was still very audible. The room itself was clean, but
