Last minute break with a great weather forecast to a place that has been one of our favourites for many years. What I really like is the cosy feel, which is just what you need after a day on the fells. Plenty of ale and malts, mulled wine and good unpretentious food to put back on the calories that you've... We had two nights at the Three Shires to mark my wife's birthday. We've stayed there before and chose to return because of its remote location and proximity to some excellent walks. The staff are really great, very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We wanted some decaf for our room - no problem. We had wet boots -... More

We have had another fantastic stay at this lovely pub, hidden away in Little Langdale. There is walking from the doorstep, no need for a car and great local beer with very generous helpings of tasty food when you return. Surrounded by the Lakeland hills, this is a hidden gem. It's not fancy and pretentious, just welcoming, quiet and in... More

We booked this hotel at the last minute for a weekend break. The hotel was lovely, our room was small but very comfortable with good views. The staff were friendly and helpful and made out stay enjoyable and relaxing. I can recommend the venison steak and the pack Lunch. It was great to be able to go on walks straight... More

We have visited this pub many times, when walking in the area, either for lunch, or a drink towards the end of a long day. This time we were doing a round walk from Ambleside via Elterwater, so stopped here for lunch. There is a lovely fire and a good choice of beers and soft drinks. The soup and sandwiches... More

We stopped off here yesterday for a spot of lunch following a walk in the area. The pub was cosy and welcoming and the staff were friendly. We placed our order from the menu and sat outside as we had the dog with us. On the down side we brought our tea and had it outside while waiting for our... More

Called in for a refreshing pint when on a walk form Hodge close. Not far from Cathedral Cave and Slaters bridge. Pints were excellent, didn't eat but plenty of other people sat outside eating and food looked good.

Really love Little Langdale and the Three Shires Inn stands in an enviable position with good staff and atmosphere in the heart of the valley. However, twice in a row now we have visited to eat and the prices are high and the portion sizes really are remarkably small. This time we had a starter of Cumbrian Charcuterie for £9.50... More

We booked late, and so the only room left was the Deluxe Suite, which was a little more costly than the other rooms, but I think worth the extra. The room was newly decorated in tasteful William Morris decor, and new furniture. The bathroom, with a roll top bath, was spotlessly clean and the well appointed. The room was quiet... More
