The White Lion have got B and B for walkers particularly C2C ers. sorted. From the initial phone call to paying up and leaving they were friendly efficient and organised. The pub is a very narrow building right on the road in Patterdale . The B and B rooms named after Lakeland Fells are all compact but clean and comfortable.... More

We stayed at the patterdale hotel and just around the corner is a beautiful little pub. From outside it's painted white and well kept. Inside it's lovely and cosy. You can sit in a booth with stunning views of the fields and fells. Food looks good although we didn't eat here. Just a word of warning when leaving ...make sure... More

It was a relief to find this hotel directly in the trail for the Coast to Coast...I wasn't going to walk a moment longer that day...Genuinely packed to the rafters with tourists and locals it must be doing something right. Food was good - average but it all hit the spot...beer was cold like it should be. Be quick to... More

Stayed for one night on the Coast to Coast walk. Room small but comfortable and we slept well. Kept awake for a while by the noise from a neighbouring field of sheep but not from the bar beneath us! Food really good pub grub. Staff happily put frozen peas in a freezer for injured knee. Bar manager (Paddy?) really fun,... More

We came in for a meal after a very long walk, amazing quick service in a very busy pub! Cecil was very friendly and welcoming. Friendly atmosphere and a added bonus of a football on ;) Definitely recommend! Come in and try. We've been very happy

I walked in out of the rain to buy a drink after a day of walking around; upon being served I was ID'd which is fair enough, but then was questioned whether my girlfriend had ID, I said no, as she does not carry her ID to be informed that if she "even sniffed" my drink we would both be... More

Had fish chips and mushy peas and was delicious especially after a long walk but don't need a starter! You can book a table which we did and best to do so at busy times as was packed. Good choice of real ale too. Located at the end of the village not far from the Oldwater Inn

Had a really good visit for 6 ex-Durham Uni mates doing Coast-to-Coast hike on 11th June. They looked after us with two tables for the England v Russia match right in front of big screen, and served us dinner there. Great beer at the bar, and pub was heaving. Brekky was a bit slow but good - nice stay thank... More

The nacho starters were lovely, but the fish and chips was a let down. The fish looked huge, but was in fact a thin fillet covered in lots of batter on a very large plate of chips. Tasty, but not enough fish inside the batter so was a bit over cooked.
