Some B&Bs just get everything right and The Old Vicarage is one of them. It helps that it is in a stunning location in the beautiful; Lorton Valley in Cumbria and the Old Vicarage itself is a simply beautiful building. Jane and Peter have put so much thought into the tiniest of details - nothing is overlooked. Lovely rooms, stunning...

We stayed only one night before a wedding in the locality. It is lovely. The host was most accommodating the rooms and facilities were first class and the breakfast was superbly cooked with good choice and with the added bonus of home made bread and marmalade.... brilliant just like home would not hesitate to stay here again

My 14 year son and I had booked The Old Vicarage as our first night's stop on our C2C cycle trip. Having travelled up to Cumbria during the day, we ended up cycling the 20+ miles to The Old Vicarage mid afternoon on the hottest day of the year. We were hot and bothered when we arrived! What we found...

This is an excellent B & B in every respect. It is set in substantial grounds good parking. The breakfasts and packed lunches are very high standard. Jane, the proprieter is very charming and the food is very high quality and very well presented. The Wheatsheaf public house is a short walk away for very good evening meals and liquid...

If you're looking for a base in the North Lakes, look no further! The Old Vicarage is perfect. We stayed in the standard double room and loved it. The attention to detail is quite astounding and makes you feel really well looked after. Everywhere was immaculate and you felt as though nothing was too much trouble. Situated in a tranqil...

The Old Vicarage at Lorton is the place to be if you want top service and attention to detail, and a tranquil atmosphere. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with facilities for tea, coffee........but with a difference... Jane makes her own biscuits and provides fresh milk and ground coffee, with chocolates!! The breakfasts are superb with plenty of choice.........

In some ways, this is a pointless review, because all I can do is reinforce what 71 people before me have said about this beautiful Guest House. Because, in truth, that's how you are made to feel - a very welcome guest in someone's house. if you're planning a trip to the Northern Lakes, and you're looking for a place...

This is a fabulous guest house. We were lucky enough to arrive in afternoon sunshine and my first impression was of sheer space: large house, beautifully-kept large gardens with lawns, benches, terrace area, gravel drive . . . in drenching sunshine. The impression of elegance and attention to detail was repeated throughout the entire house. Spacious and comfortable guest lounge...

The Old Vicarage is possibly the best b&b in the lakes. We are a couple who are both in our early 60s and for us this establishment does everything so well. Not a lot to add to the other reviews, as they say the food is very well cooked and nicely presented and the rooms are spotless. There is a...

We stayed at the Old Vicarage for my brother's wedding in Cockermouth. Jane and Peter were very accommodating and went out of their way to help us with last minute printing and polishing jobs. The rooms were gorgeous, very well equipped and very clean. The breakfast was amazing. Highly recommended.
