For a hamlet the size of Boot, three pubs are good going and the quality of food must be good to compete, and we weren't wrong, good specials and decent portion sizes with an excellent choice of beers. So good we ate there twice in the space of a week

Camping just down the lane and have eaten at the Brook House Inn many times over the past few years. Really nice food and wonderful service with a family touch to it all. We always eat in the bar area which is dog friendly and has the same menu as the resturant. Gooseberry pie and custard is to die for... More

My grandson and I went for a lunch in Brook House Inn in Boot. They had a very comprehensive menu and I felt the prices were fair. Service was good and lunch was tasty with good size portion. The Inn is in a gorgeous countryside location and it was a lovely sunny day which made it very enjoyable indeed. The... More

Having made the trip on the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway and then spent a few hours walking the glorious countryside Brook House seemed a welcoming oasis, friendly service and reasonable food and beers in a fantastic location. The only real problem they have is that the Boot Inn is so close.

Perfectly adequate twin room with compliments tray, tv and comfy beds. Decent sized room with dressing table, wardrobe and bedside tables, 2 chairs. The bathroom is suitable with decent bath and shower. More importantly there is a drying room and it is an excellent location to start walks up the valley from. Much better than the numerous campsites around, and... More

Sometimes, you just come across somewhere very special - and the Brook House Inn is definitely one of those establishments. This is a really authentic country inn, with friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfortable rooms with modern en-suite bathrooms, and excellent food served throughout the day/evening. I was visiting family staying at the nearby campsite, so they joined me (2... More

Wonderful place to stay. Large room with space on the floor to open suitcases. The bathroom is especially large and included a modern corner bath with shower over the bath. Breakfast is very good but is not served until 8.30am. Wi-Fi is free but reception is only fair. There is an excellent, secure drying room available for guests. Friendly and... More

We always make a bee-line for this pub whenever we are in Eskdale, which is quite frequent as we live in the NW lakes and love this delightful valley. This time we took three Australian friends to lunch there, and they were delighted with our choice. The food was as great as ever, the menu really extensive with something to... More

This place is just fantastic ! Great local ales & the food is just superb !! We ate here 3 times in the week we stayed in Boot. The moment we walked in the door to see if we could book a table for 6, the atmosphere was really welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and had a lovely (sneaky)... More

We were staying at eskdale campsite and went here a couple times for some dinner. Lovely food and dog friendly too. Downside is there menu is trying to be a bit upmarket when a lot of people just want pub grub. As it is a more pub environment than a posh restaurant. I was disappointed not to of seen gammon...
