The steak was absolutely wonderful and the sticky toffee pudding to die for. Well worth a visit. We were staying locally and had googled for dog friendly pubs and were so happy with the welcome and the food. It was so good we went back for the second night of our stay.

We stumbled across The Black Cock Inn on the last night of our five day stay in the lakes...and desperately wished we'd come across it sooner...The bar tender greeted us in a manor that made us feel instantly welcome & comfortable. The menu was varied and interesting & the 'specials' board even more so....we both ordered from the specials board...

Stopped unexpectedly for lunch & were treated with excellent food and service. The teenage boys said, "this is the best food we've had in a restaurant", which is high praise indeed. The desserts were excellent. Little sun trap of garden was a treat on autumn sunny day. The beer was very good from Cumbrian breweries.

Great pub, great ale and great food. Staff and the locals very friendly, always give a great welcome. Stayed for two nights b&b. Reasonably priced, breakfast included. The full monty breakfast was delicious. Ideal for walkers. The room had everything you needed with the little extras thrown in, like the tea/coffee box, the alarm clock, soaps and shower gels. Well...

Stayed for a couple of night while walking in The Lake District. Good location for some of the southern fells and located in a pleasant village with other amenities such as a bakery. The Inn does good evening meals. Helpful staff.

We (a couple) dropped in hoping to get an evening meal. I asked at the bar whether it was possible to eat and the response was an unwelcoming "where you sitting ?". I indicated the empty table where we had sat down and was told (unpleasantly) that it was reserved (there was no sign on it). Although there was a...

Broughton-in-Furness isn't a big place, but the Black Cock Inn is centrally located so you can walk anywhere in town easily. The beds were firm, clean, and comfortable, and the room was clean. There was no in-room WiFi, at least in room 3, but it was available in the bar/restaurant section. The WiFi is provided by The Cloud, which if...

We have eaten here quite regularly, and the food has always been good, but lately the chef seems to have decided to add chilli flakes to dishes without mentioning it. As a couple, neither of us can tolerate chillies, and therefore this is a plea to the management to please indicate on all recipes if any type of chilli is...
