We stopped at the woolpack inn half way through a 7 day hike - very much in need of a rest. This was a casual place ideal for hanging out and planning the rest of our trip. Service excellent ( thanks Ferguson), food good, beer plentiful. Good local feel In a remote corner of the lakes. Some might say the... More

The Woolpack is in an idyllic setting not far from the Hardknott Pass in Eskdale. Facilities are basic but adequate but the staff are fantastic which elevates it to a lovely place to stay. There is a little room full of information just past reception which we only discovered by accident on the day we left - brochures, maps of... More

I ordered pizza here whilst having a few drinks. The pizza was just standard and lacked flavour however meals were being served, all of which looked lovely. Despite this however staff are very friendly, only other thing I would say is that the price of drink is extortionate.

We stopped off here after a drive over the Hard Knott pass and we weren't disappointed. The weather was great so we sat outside with the dog and ordered some of their pizza oven bakes pizza's and a burger and all were very good. Prices seemed really good too and all staff were very welcoming. The dog which I assume... More

We found this after a trip over Hardknock Pass, the food was lovely, huge portions and really tasty. We went back three times, it was so good. Wonderful selection of Gins I just had to try. My daughter loved the pizza from the pizza oven, and for me the ribs were amazing.

Very helpful manager, showed us both rooms available. Both good - we chose the one that had just been refurbished, and it was ideal for a short stay. Had the most comfortable pillows I've ever come across! Bar meals were available in the adjacent Hardknott Bar The menu was a little strange, offering pizzas (very authentic baked in a wood... More

Great pub in a lovely setting, great food and very accommodating with our large group with children and dog, we didn't book bit they managed to fit us in, they even changed the TV from footie to the Olympics. They were so friendly with the good food we came back the next day to eat as a couple.

We came across this place by accident after a walk up Hollinghead Bank and Blea Tarn Hill. What a find !! The food was really good and reasonable in price . We managed to feed three of us ( two adults and one child ) with drinks ( non alcoholic) for £25. The staff were really friendly and the Inn... More
