This is a very welcoming pub, lovely garden to sit in, we only had drinks but the staff are so friendly and helpful, the food looked lovely. They have lovely coffee and a great selection of fruit teas as well, we will be back

First time we have stayed in this part of the Lake District but so glad we did. A beautiful, peaceful part of the area. Like 'chrisallie' we nearly didn't book this place for our two night stay as we read they were dog friendly and have had problems with this in the past where establishments have not been too fussy... Having never stayed in the area before we carefully researched our room for the night. We wanted somewhere with charm, good food and lovely bedrooms. We can be fussy with cleanliness and service to this was also important. Our expectations were surpassed the website's photos don't do it justice! It's friendly, welcoming, charming and right in the middle of a... More

Stayed in Boot early September with my husband, had three fantastic evening meals in the Boot inn! We would recomend the Boot in to anyone, the food drink and service was all spot on!! We had the same window table each night. They were very busy each evening, so the organisation must be great as service was always very quick... More

A few of us popped in for a quick lunch. Food was served promptly - soup and nice baguettes with bacon and brie served with coleslaw and side salad however we weren't impressed with a portion of chips we shared as chips were massive and didn't taste like chips we expected, sorry. Evening menu looked really good and we spotted... More

We visited this pub around 12 months ago and after our second visit we have come to a conclusion. We stayed at a really good local campsite and there are only two pubs in walking distance. The only reason the two pubs are busy is because of the above, it's certainly not because of the quality of food or service.... More

Visited for lunch after travelling up on the railway. Lovely ham and pickle sandwich and gorgeous home made chips while sitting out in sunshine. There was plenty of outside seating and also a conservatory. Busy with walkers, cyclists and dog walkers.

Just down the road from the narrow gauge railway to Ravenglass The room was clean and spacious easily fitted in the dog's crate. My fiancé and I, well only fiancé while staying in Boot, stayed in a nearby cottage, which was lovely but the Boot Inn being so close was brilliant for food and drink. We thought that since Boot was in the middle of nowhere that the food might be touch and go. But we were very pleasantly surprised the first evening... More

Traditional pub offering a warm dog friendly welcome. Pub grub menu at a good price. Outdoor seating area & a conservatory too. We had the curry, steaks & cheese pie washed down with a nice bottle of merlot - £100 for 4 of us inc drinks & puddings

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Boot Inn nestles in the tiny hamlet of Boot, deep in the heart of the Eskdale Valley. Within easy walking distance of The English Lake Districts largest and most majestic fells, yet only 7 miles from the sea. We provide first class food, drink and accommodation with nine letting bedrooms, bar, conservatory and snug areas, we also have ample car parking and a large beer garden. The inn itself has been catering for the hungry and thirsty travellers since the 17th century, offering a selection of traditionally kept cask ales, fine wines, sprits, continental beers, soft drinks and excellent food. At the Boot Inn we endeavour to source as many of our ingredients and most of our produce locally including the almost legendary cumberland sausages. Everybody is welcome included our four legged friends. With real log fires for those chilly autumn, winter or even summer days, a warm welcome is always guaranteed. The valley provides a wealth of opportunity for outdoor activity with Scafell, Great Gable, Harter Fell, Bowfelll, Crinkle Crags and many others all within walking distance without having to cross a single road! Cyclists can pitt themselves against the Hardknott and Wrynose passes, the steepest section of road in England leading to the Duddon Valley and Langdale. For those of a more spiritual and historical interest there is to be found the remains of a Roman Fort in the upper reaches of the valley and the beautiful 14th century church of St Catherines only a short stroll away. Slightly further afield attractions such as Muncaster Castle and Eskdale Golf Course are close by. ... more   less
