Just finished a trip on the ravensglass railway. A mulled wine and open fire warmed us up before a beautiful Sunday roast of sirloin beef and Yorkshire pudding with great selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. We followed it with sticky toffee pudding and waffles to share as we were all so full. Delicious food served up by a lovely team...

We drove from Ulpha to here. It was pitch black but easy to find. We had Prawns Pil Pil and Deep fried Brie to start. And then Fish pie and Chicken leek ham pie too. No complaints about the food whatsoever. The beer/ale on tap was lovely. Dogs allowed too. And very friendly, welcoming staff. Who may I add made...

From the welcoming bar staff to the speedy service, the fantastic food to the unhurried nature of the place, every aspect of my meal here was without fault. I am a solo traveling vegetarian and the menu...

I booked a couple of nights for my wife's birthday and asked for a bottle of Prosecco to be on ice in the room which was there when we arrived and were met by a lovely lady who was working the bar. Our room was fine and the bathroom was generous with a powerful hot shower and spotlessly clean. However,...

We had a fantastic time at The Boot Inn. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. It really took the edge of camping in October! Restaurant 5 minutes from Eksdale campsite so not far to stagger home! X Highly recommend The Boot Inn for a restaurant and pub x

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Boot Inn nestles in the tiny hamlet of Boot, deep in the heart of the Eskdale Valley. Within easy walking distance of The English Lake Districts largest and most majestic fells, yet only 7 miles from the sea. We provide first class food, drink and accommodation with nine letting bedrooms, bar, conservatory and snug areas, we also have ample car parking and a large beer garden. The inn itself has been catering for the hungry and thirsty travellers since the 17th century, offering a selection of traditionally kept cask ales, fine wines, sprits, continental beers, soft drinks and excellent food. At the Boot Inn we endeavour to source as many of our ingredients and most of our produce locally including the almost legendary cumberland sausages. Everybody is welcome included our four legged friends. With real log fires for those chilly autumn, winter or even summer days, a warm welcome is always guaranteed. The valley provides a wealth of opportunity for outdoor activity with Scafell, Great Gable, Harter Fell, Bowfelll, Crinkle Crags and many others all within walking distance without having to cross a single road! Cyclists can pitt themselves against the Hardknott and Wrynose passes, the steepest section of road in England leading to the Duddon Valley and Langdale. For those of a more spiritual and historical interest there is to be found the remains of a Roman Fort in the upper reaches of the valley and the beautiful 14th century church of St Catherines only a short stroll away. Slightly further afield attractions such as Muncaster Castle and Eskdale Golf Course are close by. ... more   less
