Was booked in here for one night many months in advance by Packhorse as part of a Coast to Coast walk. We arrived at the tail end of a wedding reception were handed our keys, were not shown to the room neither was the location of the room explained to us. The room was disgraceful. No view - 2 small... Recently stayed for two nights for a family wedding. My only negatives are the rooms could do with slight upgrade and drinks prices are slightly expensive. However the venue is beautiful for weddings, the grounds are lovely and large which the kids enjoyed, food for the wedding and breakfast excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and we received excellent customer... More

had an overnight stay whilst on business in Cleator Moor. On arrival received a warm welcome and everything was explained to me. Breakfast was excellent, the room very comfortable. The hotel itself was quite quirky. All the staff were friendly, courteous and efficient a credit to the management with a special mention for Beth on reception for her smiling pleasant... More

This is a beautiful hotel with classic interior and exterior and most pleasant staff. We stayed with a dog so were on the ground floor in the room also meant for people with disabilities. Furnishings are fine, but quite a cold clammy feel to the room and the bathroom could be cleaner (dust everywhere). However, it was a nice and... More

Stayed here for five nights. Great hotel definitely recommend. Good food. Staff very friendly. Families with young children I would highly recommend the miniature railway running from Ravensglass to Eskdale for a piece of heaven.

I am loathe to write this review because the hotel staff was amazing. Very helpful, polite and professional. Also, the grounds are beautiful with a stunning garden in the back. But unfortunately the hotel needs a good clean up and modernizing. As we went in there was an overwhelming smell of some sort of cleaning up product, but unfortunately I... More

Attended a wedding recently and the staff were welcoming, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them and the food was delicious. A lovely setting with beautiful gardens. I would like to return to spend a night here. Certainly a place I would recommend based on the food alone
