We have just returned from a stay here and we had a brilliant time , we didn't want to come home! The hotel is beautiful, I've read lots of reviews about the exterior/interior looking old and tired so was expecting the worst but I didn't feel that way, it's a lovely old house with lots of charm and if it... A Travelzoo offer brought us here on our way home from dropping off the children for a holiday at granny's. We had looked at numerous vouchers in the general vicinity of northern England and this, for us, ticked all the right boxes at first glance. Dinner included was what we were initially looking for but when we saw there was... More

We had advised on booking that we would have a little dog with us, but were very disappointed at being told on arrival that the dog was not allowed in any public rooms. Had I been advised at the time of booking I would not have booked. So they obviously don't want to turn away your custom but dogs are... More

Dear Arumlily, Thank you for your kind comments about our restaurant. With regard we always tell guests that their dogs are welcome to be with them in the rooms. However we are a very small property and have to be aware of the needs of all our guests and there are some who are positively frightened of animals and there... More

Stayed 13th to 15th July 2016. A lovely secluded setting in stunning countryside. The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming, attentive without being intrusive. A beautiful period house comfortably and tastefully furnished. Whilst the outside of the house may need a lick of paint and our bedroom was a little tired it didnt detract one little bit from our... This beautiful old house is sadly, from the outside ,ready for improvement! Window frames are rotting..ivy grows over the outside of residents windows in abundance ..plaster is cracked..and there are many signs of decay. We entered expecting a musty damp smelling hallway..to be met by warm, inviting, characteristic charm. The outside clearly does not do it justice. Tastefully decorated with... More

We have just visited Lovelady for a 10th time and think we are addicted. We had the tasting menu with accompanying flight of wines on both nights. Utterly indulgent but we are given a completely different menu and wines each sitting. The menu on the first night was excellent and executed almost to perfection; the English Wines were mixed but... Dear Leeds2042, Thank you so much for the feedback. As you know you are becoming quite a challenge with regard to the wine flight but I still have a few tricks up my sleeve! It makes it all worthwhile when we get guest who understand what we are trying to do. With thanks More

Frist impression is't great. the smell from the septic tank, unable to sit out in the garden. The house is very tried in desperate need of a refurb & Garden in need of lots of TLC. Decided on a midweek break & wasn't disappointed. Room 6 had a lovely garden view, wasn't a huge room w double bed or ensuite but adequate. Kettle w teas/coffee in room. This is a country house hotel & quite delightful with a couple of lounges and a bar room. The bistro dinner was delicious & v satisfying. An excellent choice... More

After reading previous reviews (and thinking people sounded fussy) I have to agree that the first impression isn't that good. First of all it is difficult to find as the signage is tiny and not seen from the main road. On arriving at the hotel you notice it looks a bit unloved - window frames obviously need replacing and there... More
