For the second time this month we have hired a meeting room for important interviews. The refreshments and lunch have been lovely. On the first visit Megan looked after us very well. Thank you to Chrissie for sorting our bookings and accommodating our requests. We will be booking again for May. Reasonably priced. The only issue we had on one visit was the laptop connection to screen but we were given a discount.
This is a review for the Spa only. My husband booked an Elemis hot stone massage for me on Mothers Day and it was the best massage I’ve ever had. Rebecca was absolutely fantastic, she used the right level of pressure and I was instantly relaxed. The atmosphere was very zen and the products smelled amazing. I’ll definitely be booking another treatment with Rebecca.
Food was lovely, service good for both our evening meal & breakfast. Room was lovely & spacious but then we did upgrade to a deluxe double double (two double beds in the room) Pool area is massively lacking enough loungers or chairs, paint flaking off the ceiling & no jacuzzi? Pool is very shallow, this area is the main reason I gave a lower score, as it really needs some work/updating. Staff at the hotel are all friendly. Spa area could do with a few more rooms to relax in, as get quite busy at times & find it very unusual that there’s no water available in the relaxation room? Other spas I’ve been, they give you a glass of water & tell you to drink plenty but not here & no water available in the room you are to relax in? Overall good for the package price but little things let it down…
It has been a couple of years since I last visited when I frequented the excellent selection of golf courses. However, I was visiting for a wedding this weekend and on Friday evening my wife and I enjoyed an evening of drinks in the bar. The service from a young girl named Annabel was simply brilliant. She was working so hard all night and singlehandedly ran the bar, and for someone so young, I thought she coped exceptionally well - this made our evening very pleasant. At one point she had an issue with the Peroni pump and explained to us there would be a short delay on our drinks and took swift action to get things back up and running. Great communication and such a friendly and welcoming host. As we live somewhat close, we shall definitely be returning in the near future and cannot wait for my golfing season to commence. Thank you.…
What a fabulous day with family and friends. For the past several months the team led by our Wedding Coordinator (Chrissie) have supported us amazingly, culminating in a perfect day. The whole event was delivered with professionalism alongside a respect of our wishes. The team worked tirelessly to ensure our day went without a hitch, we will be forever grateful for ensuring that the day will be etched in our memories forever.
What a fabulous weekend we are currently having at this beautiful hotel. Rooms and staff are just fabulous. I need to nominate one of your bartenders Annabelle who is just amazing. She is so kind attentive and nothing is too much trouble. Made THE most amazing strawberry daquiri ive ever had. She is a fabulous asset to your team.
This has the potential of being such a lovely hotel due to its surroundings and scenery however it is let down massively. I wasn’t going to post a review as I emailed feedback to head office following our stay to give them the opportunity to respond however they didn’t even acknowledge the issues so here goes This hotel is located close to the village of Tarporley which has a few bars and restaurants. You can walk to it but the road when dark is not for everyone. When we arrived at 3:00 to check in, there wasn’t anybody on reception at all which I thought was poor given 3:00pm is check in time. After waiting 3-4 minutes, someone finally arrived. The staff were pleasant enough. We asked about a taxi to Tarporley and were given a list of 6 numbers which was great. When we got to our room, at 5:00pm we couldn’t get a phone signal so I rang reception and asked if they could book a taxi for 6:45 as we had booked a table at a pub for 7. We were told no problem. At 6:30, we went down to get a drink at a bar. Again, no staff on the bar so we had to wait a few minutes. Staff member flippantly commented we didn’t have to wait long. Once we had drinks, I checked with reception that the taxi was booked to which I was told he hadn’t even bothered to to ring one. He said he was going to do it now. After another 5 minutes I asked if he had any luck and he just replied no. So, we had to drive down and leave the car in the village. The following morning, we went down for breakfast at about 9:30. The restaurant was quite quiet and again, no staff member greeting. When someone arrived, she apologised and said they’d been extremely busy. Breakfast was a shambles overall. Every single table in the whole restaurant was dirty with not one single table being cleared after use. It was awful. I assumed they didn’t have enough staff however more and more were arriving but the organisation and lack of understanding to their roles and responsibilities was plain to see. Staff were going to one table, clearing a mug and leaving everything else. They’d then go to another table and do the same. The breakfast items were slow to be restocked. The whole experience was really poor. On top of this, the price of drinks at the bar was extortionate. We had a beer and a gin and tonic and paid £25! We had stayed at the Lowry in Manchester the previous week and paid £17. The swimming pool also looks nothing like the images, it has the feel of leisure centre vibes and is not relaxing in the slightest. All in all I would never stay here again which is a shame given the picturesque setting. On a positive, the room was nice, we had a suite with a balcony. Macdonald head office ring you before you arrive to try and upsell rooms and experiences, what they need to focus and concentrate on is service.…
Had an amazing weekend away for my Uncle’s wedding, we were served by Annabelle at the bar and she was so friendly and attentive went above and beyond for us ❤️ such qn amazing hotel and staff are amazing, beautiful atmosphere and you feel right at home x
The pool and the spa facilities were good but everything else was horrible. My massage started out good -good pressure but the masseuse didn't listen to me when I asked her to focus on shoulders and neck instead spent more time on lower back, which is now bruised. Then she got softer and softer so my firm massage ended up more like a soft caress and she felt knots in the shoulders but didn't work them so it wasn't very good at all. Especially not for a deep tissue massage. Then we move on to a vegetarian afternoon tea, booked way in advance. Moved without telling us!! Then we had to wait for half hour for it to come. It only had one cup of coffee with it. Tiny terrible sandwiches on stale bread with ROTTEN cucumbers. Tiny portions of cake one with a finger hole in it and stale éclair. Overall a terrible experience, would not recommend and will definitely be putting a review. …
We had a spa break here and had a lovely time. Our massages were both very nice, but slightly limited leisure facilities - no jacuzzi. Room was very clean but quite dated. Staff friendly. Nice breakfast. Location and setting are brilliant. Only real complaint is that the drinks at the bar are very expensive. We paid over £14 for 2 pints.
