This historic coaching inn on the High Street of the charming Tarpoley village ticks all the boxes in terms of comfort, country charm and excellent food. It costs a bit more than average for a room, but the bay windowed suites overlooking the High Street are worth the price in our book; and the breakfast included in the price (both...

It suddenly occurred to me that we use this place on a regular basis. It is on our door step. But I never thought to review it! If you are coming from further afield, I heartily recommend it. Food is great, atmosphere is great, beer is great- what more can you want? We quite often take overseas visitors there for...

We stopped off for lunch at The Swan as we liked the choice on the menu. Ham, egg and chips is my husband's favourite, and I love spiced parsnip soup. We were delighted too with our fruit crumble and custard. The prices were reasonable and the service friendly and efficient. We liked the relaxed traditional atmosphere and spacious dining areas....

Lovely New Years Day getaway after the madness of Christmas. Served lovely food even on New Years Day until 8.00pm with having to book. Rooms were lovely with Fresh ground coffee available. Staff are lovely and friendly too. Highly recommend

Our room was in the stable buildings. Clean room with good quality bedding. We experienced noisy banging when using the hot tap, as there was an air lock in the pipes. Nearby church bells rang out every 15 minutes throughout the night. Good location for visiting Chester, travelled on nearby bus 84 right to the centre of Chester. Busy bar...

Recently visited for lunch. Soup was excellent and a large bowl full so good value for money. Served with slices of crusty bread and good quality butter My friend had a "Swan" burger with chips and coleslaw. The burger was dry and some of the chips were not cooked properly. To make matters worse it was served on an oblong...

Checked in and bought a few overpriced drinks for colleagues.. Nice welcome and showed to the attic bedrooms Accommodation was OK, dated and the next door room showering felt like was in my room. After the bar closed the hotel spent the early hours setting up the rooms for the morning dragging furniture around keeping us awake. Breakfast was OK,...

Decided to have a night away to celebrate my husbands birthday, we didn't want anywhere to far from home. We intended a day out in Chester so looked to see what we could find near. The Swan sounded interesting and we also had never visited Tarporley. It was an excellent choice. We were welcomed warmly, checked in & given all...

We had booked a one night stay as a birthday treat and also booked a Christmas meal. The room and location was excellent but the service for the Christmas meal was disappointing. The food was fine but after the main course the waiting staff had disappeared and we had to chase up our desserts and also our coffees. This rather spoiled...

Really enjoyed our stay here... the hotel has lots of character...the staff were cheerful and helpful... the room was spacious and immaculately clean.......and we had a nice evening meal & breakfast.. The only downside was the drinks were expensive and car parking is limited.......Tarporley village is quite nice
