Just went in for a drink and maybe something to eat so don't know about the rooms etc. From the outside it looks very promising, nice traditional pub. All the more disappointing then when you go in. I ordered a pint of orange and soda. "Sorry, no orange." Oh, I said, I didn't mean fresh orange just orange cordial. No... More

My self and a mate were invited to another mates surprise 50th birthday party and decided to stay over. The Red Lion was suggested. We walked in and yes the bar is as you walk in but we were met with friendliness. The place was warm a cosy and we were shown up to our room (suite) which was excellent... More

Nice little pub in a lovely area. Just stopped in for a quick half before going for something to eat and was greeted by who I would assume is the landlady who was very nice and chatty. A bit of a "locals" pub was the feel of the place. I wish I had of known it was there and did... More

Spent a week in the UK the last week in November 2014. Had a great time at the Red Lion, Hartford. Been before and will go again as we are made to feel like family. Very clean and comfortable and excellent breakfasts.

This is not the sort of establishment at which I would normally stay, and was booked by friends who was unable to accommodate us at their home. I therefore have no idea what it cost, I certainly hope that it was not more than £40 night. Pros, very few; breakfast was good, but brought to you on a plate, you... More

This is pub needs new life, the locals stare at you when you walk in and you feel as welcome as a trump in a spacesuit! The bar is directly in front of the door so you have to ask people to let you through- that is if anybody is actually in there. This could be a lovely pub but... More

Had the opportunity to stay here whilst catching up with friends at a local restaurant and not wanting to have to drive. Accommodation was clean, bright and more contemporary than I expected. Breakfast was excellent, and the order agreed the night before so it was ready straight away upon making it down for breakfast. The pub itself is a 'proper'... More

What can I say,we have just moved in to Hartford and thought a quick look at the 'local' was in hand. We ordered our drinks and waited whilst the landlord chatted away on the phone without so much as a please thank you or nothing from him only a demand for money which was way over the top of other... If your time in sleepy Hartford, coincides with your life hitting rock bottom, then the Red Lion is the pub for you. The red lion was at one point the best pub in Hartford (a choice of 2) however since the renovation of The Coachman it pales into a distant second. The land lord and the locals combine to suck...
