We had our honeymoon here 25 years ago to the day. This was just a romantic lunch as part of the day's celebration. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal in the bar. The box selections, one fish based, the other meat based. We mixed and matched. Everything was relaxed, and absolutely wonderful. The staff could not have been kinder. When I suggested returning for our 30th celebration, 'She who must be obeyed' stated it should be at least annual, if not any celebratory reason. I have to say - I agree.

Overall an excellent choice for our wedding venue(we have been many times for meals before so knew we were going to get an exceptional experience) from the initial planning to the actual day, all staff were really excellent and ensured we had a memorable experience, the planning and organising of our guests on the day for the wedding breakfast was excellent and food outstanding

My husband and I got married at Rookery on 25th September last year so we stayed last night to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Firstly, our wedding was prefect. Faultless ! All the hotel staff could not do enough for my husband & I, plus all of our guests. Nothing was too much trouble and all the team at Rookery remained professional, attentive and friendly throughout the whole weekend. The food was excellent. We had many fussy eaters that were easily pleased. The hotel and grounds are just beautiful. We were looking forward to going back and expected another good experience but maybe not as amazing as our wedding . We were pleasantly surprised how wonderful all the team were again. They looked after us so well, as they had done during our wedding. It made our anniversary so special. We had a beautiful room (26) and the little thoughtful gestures were much appreciated. We were greeted with a lovely warm welcome and then looked after so well , great attention to detail. We can’t wait to return.

My family and I stayed at rookery for just a night, we could not fault a thing. We were welcomed at the door by a lovely receptionist, checked in and shown to our room which was immaculate, we then went Down for dinner in the restaurant, the food was amazing, we where served by Dan and Eva who were lovely and accommodating.Throughout our stay we got given complimentary drinks and happy birthday dessert plates as we came to celebrate my dads birthday. On the day of our departure we went over to The spa and had treatments everyone was so lovely and made us feel so welcome. We can’t thank you all enough.

What can I say…! This hotel far exceeded our expectations. From the moment I booked it, to them contacting me a few days before, just to make sure everything was accurate… to the actual stay, was simply perfect. The receptionists, Elle, Holly and Katrina were extremely helpful… Dan, one of the waiting staff was fantastic during our stay and couldn’t do enough for us. My friend is gluten free and they accommodated however they could. The food - absolutely beautiful- fine dining levels. We had lunch, dinner, breakfast and afternoon tea during our weekend - all were fabulous and dining staff were attentive at every single meal. The room - gorgeous and fab views - we stayed in the old part and did not regret it. The room was extremely clean and I really do look out for the little things but nope, didn’t spot anything to be dirty or dusty. The spa- We didn’t get to book a treatment but used the spa facilities and that too, was lovely. My friend and I have visited many hotels with spa facilities around this area and this one has so far been our favourite stay… we had the most relaxing time at this hotel, the staff were all extremely professional and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. If you get a chance to go, do! You won’t regret it and we will definitely be going back. Thank you Rookery Hall Hotel and Spa - you were amazing.

Very helpful and friendly staff through the hotel. We had a nice room, comfortable. Spa and facilities modern and spotless. Restaurant was very good - very tasty dishes and good service. Would recommend - about 15 mins from the M6 so a great stopping off point for journeys.

My wife and I took our two dogs for a mini-break last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel pulled out all the stops, offering us a great room with patio / garden access, kitted out with dog beds, bowls and treats and were so welcoming to the hounds. One of them is 52kg and looks big and scary, even though he's the daftest wuss around, so it was nice that any staff who met him was so calm with him! We enjoyed long walks around the grounds and met with a load of other families with dogs and they all played together in the main field away from the hotel. In the evening, we had a great tasting menu with wine pairing - although we only managed 5 out of 7 courses (a mix of being full and having five glasses of wine in quick succession), but the food was excellent, as was the service. We had a great break and will definitely be back soon. Massive thank you to Ruben Pita, the Assistant General Manager for organising it, and thank you to Tim and the team for making us feel so welcome.

This is a good hotel. Not one of Handpicked hotels best, but good. A little dated in places & is probably quite a good hotel for a conference or a wedding. But the food let it down. A very expensive meal that wasn't quite worth it. Most of the staff were very good, apart from once again the odd one in the restaurant who you felt didn't want to serve you to the standard it should be when you are paying those prices & that we have come to expect from staying at other Handpicked hotels. The Spa is very nice, although the changing rooms were dirty when we went in & still dirty when we came out. Even though their were 3 people on reception chatting. We won't be back, & that's a shame as we make repeat visits to other Handpciked hotels.

As a previous visitor, for a few other family celebrations, I returned to Rookery Hall, having had a number of previous good experiences - once again I was not disappointed. I chose handpicked hotels for my leisure breaks as a number of things set the collection out from the crowd, the most important one for me being they welcome my 13 year old aging Labrador, who can stay in a specifically allocated dog friendly bedroom with me and also join me in the bar area for food and drink, she is treated by the team with the same high levels of courtesy afforded to the human guest. Of course dogs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea which is why she cannot go in the restaurants or spa facilities, which is totally understandable and I feel the hotel has got the balance just right to cater for the customer segments. Our last visit was in March and it was really good, however something was noticeably different with the food on this visit, it was previous very good, but this visit it was absolutely outstanding, the breath of choice, the level of quality, attention to detail in the presentation it has to be said our evening meal on Saturday was the best A la Carte meal I have experienced in all of the Handpicked hotels and Poppy Labrador has stayed in all the UK mainland hotels in the last 18 months. Of course we couldn’t eat in the restaurant with Poppy but there was no hesitation in allowing the fine dining menu to be served to us in the bar, again nothing is too much trouble. We had a very engaging chat with a new member of the bar team called Ollie, it’s really nice that the team take the time out to chat to the guests and get to know them. Another excellent touch is the addition of polycarbonate champagne glasses so that you can enjoy a glass of champagne by the pool side, we were celebrating my mother’s 78th birthday so it was really nice of Vicky in the Spa cafe to provide us with table service by the pool side, again nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast set us up for the day each morning with an excellent choice of continental and freshly cooked items, again attention to detail by Helen who ran the breakfast shift, a dog friendly table was ready and waiting for us every morning along with extra sausages specifically brought for the dog! So another extremely good visit - thanks for a lovely weekend. 🐾 Poppy Labrador aged 13 🐾
