We arrived at the hotel at 10am on day of arrival to be told that rooms weren't ready and check in wasn't until 4, although had rung to check if we could check in early as wouldn't be back till late as was going to Alton towers. When we arrived back at 10pm, it was like a ghost house with...

Room had not been cleaned - bin full of rubbish, dirty toilet, cobwebs, dead insects, crumbs everywhere. There is no food available except breakfast which is limited continental or (provided you book it before 9pm the preceding evening) English breakfast of very poor quality: don't bother. The bar closes at 9pm so you can't even have a quiet drink after...

This is a clubhouse for a golf club masquerading as a hotel. Whilst the golf course looks very nice with fantastic views, the general feeling is that it is the usual soulless golf club dominated by men. The lounge and bar area is very cold and unwelcoming. The room we had was very tired with the previous occupants dirty towel...

We stayed as part of a wedding party. I'll star by saying the room was clean and provided the usual toiletries/tea making facilities. Oh, and the barmaid was pleasant and chatty. That covers the positives. Now, I've worked in hotels and customer service is usually their top priority. Not here. I'll list a few examples: One cot for in the...

I wish I had read the feedback on this site. The hotel as many said is really a b&b with some charm but remote with little accessible facilities. The rooms are clean but sparse and lack items like tissues or biscuits that seem standard at majority of cheaper b&b's. The "double" bed was in fact 2 singles pushed together -...

arrived for a wedding and a pre booked room only to be told that the previous guest had not checked out yet and it was against the law to make them leave so we would have to stay elsewhere. As we were related to the groom we refused to leave having had the room booked for months. We were told...

Comfortable and spotless rooms. Very welcoming staff, nothing was too much trouble. The included continental breakfast was really good. This was our overnight stay for our visit to Alton Towers ( only 11 minutes away) so if you're going for a ride or two at Alton Towers why not give this place a look in and, as it is a...

My boyfriend booked this as part of my birthday weekend away as we had two day park tickets to Alton towers and we wanted somewhere nice to stay in between. When booking the lady on the phone offered him a 10% discount as we had the two day park tickets and my boyfriend asked if we could have dinner at...

What an amazing little hotel. Great hospitality and so friendly. The room we had was beautiful. My 11 week old baby loved his first holiday here and got upset when we left today. We wished we could have stayed longer. The lady who works there is absolutely amazing. Can't speak any more highly of Whiston Hall. We definitely plan on...
