Stayed over a wet weekend in June. Located about 15 min walk from Alderley Edge, and about 15 mins drive from Jodrell Bank. The checkin was friendly, but a bit slow - pay on arrival. Room and bathroom were reasonable size and very clean. There was a kettle, decent flatscreen TV, and a small wardrobe which had room for clothes... More

This is part of a chain owned by brewers Mitchell and Butler. Can't decide if it's a pub or a hotel. Concepts like adding price of meal to your room bill are met with a blank stare and refusal. Lots about the room just misses the target. It's a largish room but the double bed is 2 single mattresses made... More

Great place to stay when visiting friends. Friendly staff, spacious rooms and good food. The only downfall if you are staying in a room at the rear of the property the extraction fans/generators are all there. We had to have the window open as the room was very hot. Disturbed sleep. So if staying ask for a room on the... More

A great place to stay as we were meeting friends in Alderly Edge for dinner, we'd visited Chester Zoo during the day and it was only a half hour drive away. The welcome & check in were friendly and easy. The bar area was clean and atmospheric. A pleasant surprise as we weren't sure what to expect? Our family room... More

Just fancied a short break away for my birthday and Alderley Edge is only 30 mins away from where we live, but we could have been on the other side of the country for how we felt! Our room was quite big and lovely - much better than I expected and check in was so quick. Its only a ten... More

Stayed here for 2 nights. The room is the biggest I have ever stayed in. The hotel and location were brilliant. Will defo stay here again and recommend. Had a meal which was good quality and a few drinks in the bar in the evening and it was extremely relaxing. Only slight downside was the creak of the floor boards... More

We visited for an evening stay as we were going to a family party up the road so this was a good location. Lady checking us in was very helpful and friendly. Room was surprisingly nice and more than expected. The downside was the noise. Check out was 12 so had hoped for a lazy morning with no rush. From... More

Wonderful hotel, lovely decor throughout, very friendly staff, rooms are well catered for as a family room had large double bed aswell as a double sofa bed both of which were very comfortable, nice bathroom with shower and the usual tea/coffee etc Only downside was that at £79 per night I thought it would of included a full English breakfast... We were very impressed, not only with the general standards of the hotel, not only with the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff, but also with the high quality of the food and good service both in the evening and at breakfast. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay!

Had a one night stay at this lovely hotel. Check in was very quick and pleasant. Room was a great size and very clean, shower facilities great. Staff were absolutely lovely and very friendly and efficient. Had a full English breakfast which was presented very well and very tasty. Cannot fault anything about our stay. Will definitely visit again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled between Wilmslow and picturesque Alderley Edge, this elegant lodge gives you all the charm of a country hotel only 12 miles from Manchester.Dating back to the 1880s and dripping with original features and luxurious touches, it's amongst some of the most characterful accommodation in Cheshire. In fact, it was once one of the grandest private residences in wealthy Alderley Edge. Today it offers 10 comfy, modern rooms and a cosy pub and restaurant, where you can savour fresh, seasonal food in the warmth of a crackling open fire.Alderley Edge may boast the highest number of millionaires per square mile in the country, but there's much more to this pretty village than star watching. It's built upon a sandstone escarpment that overlooks the Cheshire Plain, where walkers will find many picturesque routes criss-crossing its beautiful scenery. The National Trust's Quarry Bank Mill and stylish Knutsford are also well worth a visit. ... more   less
