The hotel is a beautiful period structure, with memorabilia all over including some excavated Viking items. The rooms are big however really need an update as the bedding looked as if its years old. What disappointed us the most, and I never write bad reviews unless really disappointed, was the service or the lack of it. No one manned the... More

This hotel is nicely located and has a nice ambiance, since it is very old. The food however is mediocre at best and the service is not interested in the customers. The rooms are spacious, but old and a bit smelly (sewer). Get the food and service up and this is nice place

Along with members of my family (6 in all) we dropped into the Rose & Crown just for a quick drink whilst in Wisbech. Fawlty Towers comes to mind !! Six drinks ordered - one was delivered to our table - then a long delay with nothing happening for over 10 minutes.. Our group "elder" went in to see that... More

A beautiful building built in 1601. The bed sagged in the middle, the toilet seat was broken, the light over the sink did not work and there was no hand soap, wo we had to use shower gel to wash our hands. This Grade 1 listed property is charming but it is let down by its up-to-date features not being... More

The cake not fresh but edible, pasty was totally inedible and definitely not fresh. A party of 6 sitting in the court yard had to enquiry after 30 minutes what had happened to their drinks order again just teas... More

Stayed in Room 201 - The bed was enormous and very comfortable. Lovely and quiet due to the very thick walls from such an old building (400 years of history in there). Free parking and WiFi. The bathroom was huge with a free standing bath and a massive shower. The staff were lovely and attentive at reception and in the... More

We had a smashing time. The food was excellent and service superb. The Mitre Room was perfect for our small party of 30 for music and entertainment after dinning in the Swan Restaurant adjacent to the Mitre Room. I would like to thank Anne Crossan the events coordinator. Anne organised everything and I was delighted with my stress free party.... More

Lovely old historic building with extremely quirky staircase! Room and bathroom lovely and clean and bed very comfortable. Only downside was that they were a bit short on staff at breakfast and we had to remind them a couple of times, but it didn't spoil our stay.

There is a limited selection of decent restaurants in this town, but the Rose and Crown was reasonably impressive. Courteous and attentive staff, with food at sensible prices. Not a huge menu, but enough to make a reasoned choice.

On arrival the parking is at the back of the hotel. You have to traipse through a couple of covered court yards, one had flyers on the tables for some live music scattered about. The other one had a old bunch of balloons hanging around that gave it a strange smell. Check in was fine, although I had to pay... More
