We called in for tea and cake on a Wednesday afternoon and struggled to find someone to serve us. We sat in the lounge for a while where there were other people eating but no one appeared to serve. We then went to the bar where there were 3 young women clearing up from lunch. When asked if we could... More

We stayed here for a friends wedding and were really impressed that we were allowed to check in early due to the time of the wedding. All staff, including the night porter Mario, were very very helpful and I couldn't fault them. The stairs are a bit wonky but it's a 400 year old listed building so would be silly... More

We stayed for one night on Saturday 30th July in room 316, I would firstly like to say that the gentleman on the reception desk when we checked in was very helpful as was the night porter, both the room and the en-suite were very clean. The TV would only work on one channel, but that was not a problem... More

Let's start with positive news, very comfortable bed in one of the hotel's larger rooms. Now for the bad news......where to start? We were visiting family nearby and this seemed an option for a Saturday one night stay, not exactly spoilt for choice in this area. Room as OK, large bathroom and small fan to move the air, good job... More

The hotel is a beautiful period structure, with memorabilia all over including some excavated Viking items. The rooms are big however really need an update as the bedding looked as if its years old. What disappointed us the most, and I never write bad reviews unless really disappointed, was the service or the lack of it. No one manned the... More

This hotel is nicely located and has a nice ambiance, since it is very old. The food however is mediocre at best and the service is not interested in the customers. The rooms are spacious, but old and a bit smelly (sewer). Get the food and service up and this is nice place

Along with members of my family (6 in all) we dropped into the Rose & Crown just for a quick drink whilst in Wisbech. Fawlty Towers comes to mind !! Six drinks ordered - one was delivered to our table - then a long delay with nothing happening for over 10 minutes.. Our group "elder" went in to see that... More

A beautiful building built in 1601. The bed sagged in the middle, the toilet seat was broken, the light over the sink did not work and there was no hand soap, wo we had to use shower gel to wash our hands. This Grade 1 listed property is charming but it is let down by its up-to-date features not being... More

Stayed in Room 201 - The bed was enormous and very comfortable. Lovely and quiet due to the very thick walls from such an old building (400 years of history in there). Free parking and WiFi. The bathroom was huge with a free standing bath and a massive shower. The staff were lovely and attentive at reception and in the... More
