We booked a table for lunch after a family funeral. The small lunchtime restaurant was perfect for us to have a quiet meal The food was very good and reasonably priced. The staff were professional and very helpful.

During a long road trip my husband and I were glad to come upon this clean comfortable hotel for a late afternoon lunch. The staff were friendly and the service was good, and it was reasonably priced. We only wanted a sandwich and coffee but that was delivered nicely. A welcome

I stayed here with colleagues on business over a period of two weeks. We were working locally on night shift. The grandeur of the publicity photos and the view of front of the main hotel building are impressive, but I’m afraid that the picture that creates is somewhat

Dear guest Thank you for taking the time to write a review. From feedback from your group we were under the impression that you were all generally happy with your stay here (with the exception of the issue with the meal - which I will address once I have responded to your other points). I do wonder how exactly are the photos on booking.com are "misleading"? Yes, the main building is a rather impressive, with it's Georgian style architecture, however it also clearly shows pictures of our lodge annex and rooms, and it does quite clearly state on websites that the rooms you booked were in the lodge. Even our lodge rooms (which are our standard rooms) are moderately furnished to an exacting standard, to provide guests with more than adequate facilities for any type of stay. We have had long term guests who have been resident in these rooms for up to 2 years who have been perfectly satisfied with these rooms. So I am sorry that a group of workmen working nights found them to be "bland" especially as they all looked so tired when they came in each morning I’m surprised this would be an issue. We do have executive and four poster suites available which you could have also booked online for your group. Of course, contractors such as yourselves are usually looking for a standard room with good value for money - which our lodge rooms are more than adequate for. Once again, I do apologize if you felt there was a delay with your meal service. Although there were only a few people sitting in our restaurant, being fully booked on that evening we were also preparing meals for diners sitting outside who were enjoying the exceptionally good weather and also guests who, like members of your group, had ordered meals and elected to wait in their rooms or had ordered room service (which is only available in the main hotel, not the lodge annex). Please also note that while our menu is not "a la carte" we did have to vary what was served with the dishes to accommodate some of your groups preferences. Upon returning from their room the two guests did amend parts of their order, requesting larger portions (despite ordering more than one main for each diner) - these amendments then also had to be cooked from fresh, meaning there was a further delay. Speaking to the Chef on duty that day, your groups order took over 30 minutes rather than the “over an hour” claimed, again if your guys had let us know they had to leave at 7pm, our staff would ensured their order took priority. With regards to our Breakfast, it is not "left under hot plates to go dry" but is replenished throughout the breakfast period to keep fresh. However, there were occasions when some of your group came over for Breakfast quite a while after we had stopped serving and had started clearing away. Other members of your group who took breakfast during serving time did comment to the staff on how good the breakfast was. Our breakfast although complimentary is very varied with a large range of high quality options – the bacon and sausages for instance come from a local butcher whose produce is rated amongst the best in the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk area I'm sorry you feel that the £22 pounds in question has made you look elsewhere. Yes, it was refused by a member of staff when you rather impolitely demanded it - they are not in a position to authorise refunds or other such matters. Had you politely raised your concerns by simply asking for the manager or even the owner (who lives on site) then we may have been able to come to some sort of understanding. We did do our utmost to accommodate you and your guys - modifying dishes on the menu, providing MUCH larger portions, bringing in extra housekeeping staff late in the evening to service your rooms so you could sleep during the daytime etc. all while keeping to the very reasonable value that you paid for our services. I do hope that the establishments you have mentioned nearby can go way above and beyond as you seem to expect and wish both them and you the best.

Stayed for 2 nights just as a little getaway. First time at this hotel but would definitely go again. Very impressive to look at. We stayed in the lodge. The room was clean, comfortable, and there were tea and coffee making facilities. Could have done with a sanitary disposal

The room I stayed was big, quiet and clean. The english breakfast was tasty and plenty. The bar provided a really light and relaxing atmosphere. Also receptionists and waiters were good professionals.
