Considering the good reputation Sheene Mill has I was very disappointed. We stayed in the loft in room 7 it smelled of either damp or sewage, we left the window open all night to try ventilate the room but it didn’t really help. Our shower leaked and we had to put towels around the shower tray to stop the bathroom being flooded. Our room was a good size and the bed was comfy but the plug socket next to the bed was hanging off the wall and the room needed a good dusting! We were provided with tea and coffee but the sugar was rock hard and we couldn’t use it. Full marks to the staff though they were very kind and couldn’t do enough to help. We were provided with a free breakfast basket with our room which I have to say was very nice, we enjoyed the hot pastries. The hotel has pretty decor and grounds but clearly needs some TLC especially in regards to the smell in room 7!

Great setting out on the deck having late afternoon drinks. All down hill from there sadly. Ran out of wine at dinner. No cooked breakfast. Poor continental served with not even breads for the meat. I could go on and on. Oh socket hanging off the wall in our room Mattress knackered springs pocking me in the back etc etc. Don't Bother. They need to spent some serious cash and get their act together. The only positive for me was a young lad serving drinks was doing his best to accommodate. The receptionist was also quite pleasant but sadly everything else spoilt our stay.

Positives first - great location, good parking, easy to find. However, I paid over £100 for a compact double for which I expected some above average quality. Room floor had clearly not been hoovered as dead flies and paper on it, window sill also littered with general dirt. On check in no one gave me a Wi-fi password so had to go back down to get it. Bed was ok but needed replacing as ridge in middle made sleeping uncomfortable. When I went to bed I also had to go back to reception to ask for the sound system in the dining room below to be reduced in volume. On check out I was asked if everything was to my liking to which I replied no I didn’t feel it was that great. The reply was oh ok and then moved onto taking my credit card details! Clearly not even bothered. So, in summary this place should be great with some major plus points but getting tired now and needs some TLC. Given COVID I don’t expect the owners to throw cash at it but maybe a good deep clean would be useful. Finally the breakfast basket is a waste of plastic wrapped garbage. Tea but no sugar. Nothing hot and an awful 15p chocolate pastry.

We went as a special meal with my mother in law, this was one of her favourite restaurants. Not any more. We were in a conservatory that looked like a seaside ice cream stall, rickety glass tables over strong lighting and freezing cold on metal chairs, no atmosphere and cheerless. Staff not very knowledgeable but they tried. Meal was disappointing, my duck rillette was not well presented or very tasty and the sourdough toast tasted sweet and more like a piece of packaged french toast, steak was overpriced with my husbands having a big piece of gristle through it, the salad was bagged and covered in vinegar along with the roasted cherry tomatoes, our desert of sticky toffee pudding was really nice except for the addition of cherries and cherry compote drizzled on the plate with some sort of green lemony herb put on top, both ruined what would have been a lovely desert. Maybe there has been a change of chef but mother in law won’t be going back and neither will we.

me and my girlfriend booked this hotel for 4 rooms and was looking forward for a wedding close by. As we all got hit with covid and lockdown, we both on the same day got a phone call saying they are cancelling our reservation due to them no having a large wedding booked. wasnt really happy with this as we obviously booked first.. we was both told on the phone that there was no need to cancell with hotel.com as it would all be sorted. up until now we have been told that we now can not cancel our booking and they didnt call us. denied the whole thing and was forcing us to pay the 500 for the rooms that we can not stay in. luckily i asked for a conformation email when they mentioned that we could now not stay there due to a large wedding booking. as soon as we produced this, they soon changed there tune. and said our booking was cancelled. this hotel was willing to deny the fact that they reached out to us to cancel our booking and was still gonna charge us. WHAT A SCAM! we have all agreed when when the wedding takes place next year, they will not get any of our business from any of the wedding guests.
