Traditional pub food & part of the English inn group. Great location, on the river ouse, lovely staff who were really helpful, food was great, Malbec went down easily enough & the chocolate brownie for dessert looked great... I say looked as my wife scoffed the lot! Definitely will be going back! We had a lovely winters day with winter... More

We stayed here for just one night to celebrate my Wife's birthday. We had never been to Holywell before and were pleasantly surprised by the picturesque village as we drove through. The Inn is situated on the river bank and looks quite stunning from the outside. Inside , it has all the charm of a genuine Old English Inn and... More

We stayed at this 'Old English hotel' for two nights in October. We have stayed at many of the Old English Inns and they all offer a similar service. What was different about the Ferry Boat Inn was the quality of the the food, which was excellent. The breakfast was faultless, the coffee always hot, if only all their hotels... More

Another good meal and great service. I have eaten here a few times, trying different menu options each time. Each time the food has been if a good standard and service was prompt and always with a smile.

I so wanted to like the Sunday roast. I'm looking to move into the area in December and this local pub has a great history and atmosphere, I so wanted Sunday lunch to be good as it could have been a regular haunt for us. It was, unfortunately, distinctly below average: barely any veg (almost nouveau cuisine, which is so... More

I loved this place as a pub when I lived in nearby St Ives. Any visitors I had would be taken there, and they'd appreciate its charm without fail. On a recent visit, then, there was no question of where I'd stay for a couple of nights. Externally, it's a very attractive building in an idyllic riverside setting. Internally, the... More

Stayed one night to break a journey. The village has some lovely houses and the pub claims to be the oldest in England, and overlooks the Ouse. Good points were plenty of parking, nice setting, pub food well cooked and good size portions. Minor drawbacks were the rather noisy kitchen ventilator on the floor below, and, bizarrely, the extremely high... More

I had a very bad experience a while back. They still allow dogs inside, which is no good. But the food was very good last time. The ham in ham, eggs and chips was generous and excellent, and the baskets of chips were perfect. Clearly they now have a good chef!

We arrived on a Friday after literally coming to a standstill on the A14 due to a couple of accidents. We were ready for something to eat and drink ( past our lunchtime) so decided to eat before checking in. I had a really good pulled pork and apple sauce sandwich and my partner a jacket potato with cheese and... More

Lovely location at the end of a small road on the river. However my room was small with dirty windows, bathroom tiny and had to have door open use basin and get dried! Only 7 bedrooms and I gather most are small. Food below par, both dinner and breakfast. The vegetables, carrots and broccoli, were utterly tasteless. Mine seemed to... More
