First class chef. Pleasant staff. Beautiful grounds. Peaceful location. Whilst the food produced for dinner is of a high standard - innovative menu but limited choices which did not change during our stay. There is an All day menu with options but this didn't appear until our last evening when we asked for different food. (stayed 3 nights). Breakfast was generous, undercooked toast, hard bacon, otherwise ok. ROOM. Our De Luxe room was small, a standard double bed and somewhat basic. However, there was a stain on the carpet which we initially thought was a tea/coffee spillage. On closer inspection, the stain was also on the valance. This prompted closer examination of the source of these stains. When we removed the freshly laundered bottom sheet and mattress cover, we were horrified to discover that 80% plus of the surface of the mattress was very severely soiled with what appeared to be bodily fluids and blood. A member of staff was summoned to inspect this who was equally horrified and took photographs to show senior management. Subsequently, the duty manager moved us to a better room! (we would have left if on our own but were with another couple). On our final day, the general manager was back on duty. We had a frank discussion with him. He agreed that housekeeping needed significant improvement. This very pleasant man had only been in post since January 2021 and indicated that he already has plans to raise standards of what could truly be a four star hotel. We wish him all good luck!

We stayed for two nights in June 2021. Great location for driving to Windsor and Kew Gardens. The staff are super helpful, receptionists are lovely. It was my husbands birthday on our second evening and they were so nice and gave us a lovely cake and Processo, so grateful! The food was amazing, we had the chicken and the chocolate fondant on both nights and they were amazing. Breakfast was amazing too. Beautiful setting on the terrace for drinks or afternoon tea. Would come back here if we needed to stay in the area again.

I have visited Taplow House many times for their excellent afternoon tea but they have really stepped it up! I can always rely on them for fantastic service but going in post pandemic it was even better. The staff are incredibly attentive and kind. It is a beautiful setting without being pretentious. It was my friends first ever afternoon tea and I had apologise for setting the bar that high. I shall be back with more friends and family soon.
