Delightful day for my wife's 50th birthday. We were concerned that it would be too refined for our children (12 and 9) but they loved the occasion and theatre of somewhere like Cliveden House. My eldest daughter's compliments on the truffle butter and the tomato soup
We stayed here as a family of six ( 3 rooms) to celebrate a big birthday. The hotel could not have been better and must rank as the best hotel I have stayed in. From the start there is valet parking and a very welcome reception from the staff. The rooms are opulent and extremely tasteful furnished. A bottle of Laurent Perrier and some hand made chocolates waiting for us in the room, a lovely touch. The building itself is a stunning masterpiece complimented by the most amazing views and gardens. We were treated to a guided tour by one of the managers who was very knowledgeable about the history. One could not help thinking about the opulence of the Astors and of course the famous Profumo days. The spa and pool are excellent and not crowded by any means. I can recommend as one of life's experiences.…
We stayed for our 5th wedding anniversary. Everything was excellent. The food and service were great, especially the starter Beef Tomato Tartare. All of the staff make us feel so welcome and special. We try to return each year after getting married at Cliveden. Fantastic!
Absolutely fabulous in all respects. But, as ever, it is the friendly and amenable service of ALL the staff at Cliveden (matching the outstanding venue, food and ambiance) which made the day so special. Thanks so much to everyone, we will be back soon.”
Spent a magical afternoon walking the dogs around the fantastic grounds at Cliveden .. and then had a champagne afternoon tea, which was sensational! Endless amounts of cakes, scones, sandwiches, tea, coffee .. and several glasses of amazing champagne. Outstanding quality and wonderful service. Very dog friendly .. and world class people watching!! Who could ask for more!?
My husband and I stayed at the Cliveden as a special treat to ourselves. We were thoroughly spoilt by the staff, who were so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Our hotel room was fantastic, a real taste of upstairs downstairs. During the day we wandered around the national trust gardens, where we hired a boat and had a peaceful hour messing about on the river. The evening meal was superb, quite one of the best I have had in a hotel. I thoroughly recommend a stay at the Cliveden, the house is full of history, the gardens are well kept and pleasant to wander through, and sitting by the river is very relaxing.
Had Afternoon Tea with my Wife. The staff were most attentive and the range of food was well presented and of a high quality. The dining room and views created a very nice atmosphere. Had a lovely walk in the grpounds afterwards.
A wonderful experience! My husband and I visited with our two friends who were staying with us from Germany. They both said they will never forget the afternoon. The venue is so grand and impressive. The afternoon tea was delicious. The service was impeccable. The grounds are stunning. Absolutely 10/10!
Beautiful gardens and Riverside walk. You can charter a boat yourself or have a passenger ride. The woodland walk is stunning. The fountain is reminiscent of Versaille and the walk towards Cliveden hotel is stunning. The hotel itself is beautiful with rooms, cottages, restaurant and a spa. The spa includes the outdoor pool where Lord Astor hosted a pool party the guests of which included John Profumo and Christine Keeler. The history as you walk around is palpable.
We stayed two nights to have a rest and celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel and grounds are well maintained although the gardens were rather uninspiring. Our room was comfortable but poorly lit ,a lack of plugs and no minibar. We dined in the main restaurant where we found that the food was rather disappointing, tough pastry, ordinary lamb and the wine list exorbitant. Lunch in the Astor Grill the next day was more animated but once again the food lacked originality. The spa was lovely particularly the outdoor swimming pool. Throughout our stay we found the staff charming and helpful. Generally a mixed experience with definite room for improvement at the price. .
