We were visiting Amersham, where she lives, to celebrate our daughters birthday and we stayed in a courtyard room and had the celebratory birthday meal in their restaurant. Room was vast, warm, well appointed and excellent quality with a HUGE shower and bath. The meal was excellent, well cooked, very tasty and very reasonable value for money and they presented...

Have just returned from an outstanding weekend stay at The Crown and I cannot wait to return. From the moment we arrived until our departure the staff were courteous and pleasant always ready to help. The spotless rooms had a unique decor and were extremely well appointed.. indeed our bathroom was the size of our bedroom with a lovely rolltop...

Thoroughly enjoyed my weekend. Very cool rooms each unique and original with complementary drink and snacks which were a fantastic touch, great character, very friendly staff and a good selection of beers.

A fantastic family weekend away at the Crown. The rooms were spotlessly clean and we were greeted with a bottle of red wine which we enjoyed before our evening meal. The bed was huge and very comfortable, we had a beautiful view of the picturesque Old Amersham town from our room. During the weekend we ate in both the Kings...

We stayed for one night with our two children in a family room, as we were attending a wedding at the Kings Arms next door. The hotel building was very attractive and the children loved the higgledy-piggledy old corridors. The room itself was comfortable, clean and a pleasure to be in. The breakfast was fantastic! I had the eggs benedict...

Having listened to the hype and bearing the name behind it I was very disappointed in the new Hawkins restaurant, part of the Crown Hotel. I understood the intension was to give a twist on the British Sunday roast. My starter of onion tart was less than ordinary, could have been improved by adding at least something to lift it...

We stayed for 3 nights with our two young children (5 yrs and 3 yrs). On the first night we stayed in the Family Room, which is a really good option. Two connecting rooms (note that they are connected by an open archway) with a sofa bed in one and a large double bed in the other. Rather plain but...

This place is perfection. Cosy, comfortable, fantastic period charm, very friendly staff, gorgeous huge shower, lots of lovely extra things like chocolate raisins, White Company products, champagne on arrival as we booked through mr and Mrs smith. Very welcoming of our little dog well. Restaurant also stunning. New head chef Ross and menu both fabulously subversive and different. His take...

My husband and I booked in for the Gala New Year's Eve dinner, the food was excellent, though there wasn't enough of it (very small portions) and I did have a few problems with my main meal and pudding, which were fixed very quickly and didn't spoil the overall superb quality of the food. The rooms were smart, modern and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Crown in Old Amersham, situated at the end of the Metropolitan Line and 40 minutes from London, is the second in a family of modern day coaching inns recently renovated by the designer Ilse Crawford (other works include Babington House). The old timber building is situated in the centre of the historic market town, attracting locals, restaurant guests and night time travelers. The inn’s interior is made up of rural materials – from Ercol chairs made in High Wycombe to traditional plaster made from lime and horsehair. The ‘back room’ with its inglenook fire and view of the cobbled courtyard is perfect for private gatherings and feasting of up to 40, while the bar and restaurant area is the communal heartbeat of the inn. The kitchen serves seasonally inspired, locally sourced food with in-between times satisfied with home baked cheese scones and fruit cake with Cashel Blue while the main menus changes daily. ... more   less
