Travelers' Choice
The Crown in Old Amersham, situated at the end of the Metropolitan Line and 40 minutes from London, is the second in a family of modern day coaching inns recently renovated by the designer Ilse Crawford (other works include Babington House). The old timber building is situated in the centre of the historic market town, attracting locals, restaurant guests and night time travelers. The inn’s interior is made up of rural materials – from Ercol chairs made in High Wycombe to traditional plaster made from lime and horsehair. The ‘back room’ with its inglenook fire and view of the cobbled courtyard is perfect for private gatherings and feasting of up to 40, while the bar and restaurant area is the communal heartbeat of the inn. The kitchen serves seasonally inspired, locally sourced food with in-between times satisfied with home baked cheese scones and fruit cake with Cashel Blue while the main menus changes daily.

Bailey Deluxe room was very nice. The air conditioning was especially welcome. Car park was a good size when you got in. Breakfast service great and good choice of options. Would stay here again. We didn’t eat in hotel but at Bistro Twelve Twenty a few minutes walk away.

We stayed with our newborn, hotel were accommodating and offered to provide us with a cot but we brought our own. Room was spacious and clean. We got room service from the restaurant on site which was incredible, would highly recommend the black dahl. Breakfast next morning was tasty and staff all very approachable.

An atmospheric environment in an attractive Chilterns village. The room, staff and general facilities were all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. Meals in the hotel were outstanding and complemented by other restaurants in the vicinity, for variety and choice.

We stay at the Crown on special occasions and always have dinner at at one of the great restaurants in Old Amersham. A great hotel in a perfect location for foodies. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast is good.

The room was great, I loved it! I appreciated the nice coffe/tea corner, and the complimentary water, wine and snacks. The breakfast was also nice! There’s a buffet and a menu to order some warm dishes, I loved the eggs Benedict and the avocado toast. The hotel is in a convenient location on the main street in Amersham. Tesco (27/7) and restaurants are few steps away.

My son and I booked the Bailey Suite which had two beds. We were very disappointed to be given a room with one bed. My son had to find alternative accommodation. It made fir a stressful visit rather than a relaxing stay. We also booked a table in the restaurant but we're shown to a huge table in an over flow area. We were given another table In the main restaurant after the member of staff showed her displeasure. I have to say the restaurant staff were excellent. Alison Smith Harrogate

Disappointing room. Chose the Baileys room out back, room more bijoux than expected. Small double bed, cramped room, cramped bathroom. Noisy air con. Noisy outside as patrons left late at night. Delivery vans parked outside our room early am. That being said, setting lovely and town picture perfect and breakfast top notch (apart from extremely badly behaved family of five). Would NOT choose again, would find alternative or upgrade room. Left unrested.

I ended up there because of a missed connection, so really only had 4 hours to sleep, but it was very comfortable for what I needed and the staff was very helpful. Was not easy to find a cab or Uber who was willing to go there late at night or early morning

Most aspects of the stay, hotel, facilities room are nice if not very nice, but the most important part of my stay was wrecked by noise all night as the building's equipment made deep vibrating noises throughout the night and morning. This was the start of a long holiday weekend and the first night's sleep being ruined harmed my whole holiday experience
