Main bit I want to say is The treatment Center is the best bit and the quality matches the price... Also everyone seemed to give different answers or send you in different directions and prices seem to vary in different places so it seems there’s not a lot of knowledge sharing... We booked our stay when classes were inclusive and have since been made a chargeable extra... Reception didn’t help and expected us to just pay anyway...

...Apart from that me and my partner were very disappointed in our stay. We, very luckily, didn’t pay full price due to my vitality discount awarding us 50% off the stay... If I had paid the original price of £900+ for 2 nights I would have demanded a refund... Firstly, when asked for some ice and a bucket to be delivered to our room, the receptionist explained this service would be an additional £7.50… I have never in my whole life been charged for this service... I have stayed in 5* hotels in central London and not been charged for this service... We also added on a lunch that was said to be £24 for the both of us, only to be invoiced £38 after multiple add ons such as a charity donation?... Considering Champneys sell themselves on being a healthy get away, the food was embarrassing... Breakfast was laughable with a limited selection of (disgusting and cheap) chicken sausages and poached eggs with some cereal (not healthy) and a few pots of yoghurt... But good luck trying to eat any of those as there was 1 plate to be shared with 30 other customers... The salads were literally a couple of leaves thrown on an ugly small plate you’d expect to be served at a high street chain... The only booze available was expensive wine (which wasn’t even nice)... Overall it was a rip off and at every opportunity they tried to scam another £10-20 out of you when we could have already potentially paid £900+ for 2 nights??... I’d highly recommend going and not paying for a microwaved lunch!...

...The Bad: In the restaurant they charge you a gratuity fee every time you order something. They don't tell you about this in person so you are charged the fee and you don't know anything about it until they give you your receipt... They also charge you £7 per person when checking out, £5 gratuity fee and £2 charity fee... We phoned the reception desk following our stay and the woman advised that this is explained in the welcome booklet and if you'd rather not pay the fee then you need to let reception know before you check out... Gratuity should be a choice made by the customer!... This is a shame considering it's the main part of it... Be aware that there are certain options which you will have to pay a supplement for... The Price: As to be expected, the prices are extortionate... A small bottle of Peroni was £5 and glass of juice was nearly £4... We also bought a small slice of Victoria sponge cake from the coffee lounge the following day and this was nearly £4 and no better than one from Tesco... We had a two for one voucher and paid £300 for a one night stay which included a three course evening meal and breakfast...

...The entrance is impressive and the beautiful rooms downstairs and conservatory... Def in need of some paint and TLC... £120 for a 50 min treatment is crazy and no other option other than 20 mins for over £50 ... Please consider some other options that are slightly more realistic time and price wise... I would have been more than happy to pay £80 for 60 mins or slightly less for 45 mins but the prices were unacceptable... I’m not sure that the loyalty voucher would entice us back and it’s a long drive from Sussex ...

Unfortunately, our overnight stay at Champneys Henlow was absolutely awful from start to finish... Steak is charged at an extra surcharge, and I strongly advise you do not make the same mistake as me, it was like eating rubber... We then order a bottle of wine to be told thats also unavailable, and the next cheapest bottle of your ordinary wine was £43 (taste like vinegar)... So in theory you have to pay whatever it is without seeing evidence of the charges... Strangely, when I received the receipt of our charges i.e... dinner etc, we had been charged twice for dinner and also charged an extra 6 glasses of prosecco which they said they did not have!!...

...Downsides: Champneys are adding several extras to an already pricey stay. The price of treatments has rocketed so wasn't able to try any... The cost of the yoga classes has increased from £5 to £8 and it costs an extra £3 for each class booked via their app... Drinks are expensive - "cheapest" bottle of house red or white is £36, although some guests happy to splash out for prosecco (over £40)... Several dishes (scallops, steaks) on the menu as well as side dishes have an extra cost and the dinner menu is the same each night which may limit choice for those staying longer... It's still a lovely place, in a lovely setting but each time, due to rising costs,, I wonder if it will be my last stay...

My friend and I booked with our Vitality discount, if we had paid full price for this stay we would have been very upset and annoyed... We also had a treatment each and thought they were very good, although pretty pricey... Most of the other guests were complaining about the absolute sham of a dinner service it was... I had arancini balls to start, don’t even bother, uncooked rice, no flavour almost cracked a tooth... On the second night they were quicker but I saw at least 3 other guests complain about the food... Breakfast is pretty crap too, have to pay extra if you want anything cooked which should be included given the price of the rooms... Only wine is served with dinner, you can’t really get any other drinks... We had fun because we made the most of it and had a good laugh at the sheer madness of the stay, but seriously, there are tons of way better spas out there, even my gym has better facilities...

...The lady at the coffee bar did not charge us. Her words were 'it's unfair, those 2 coffee's would actually cost you £10' there were lots of thing un mentioned... But there was an additional costly menu which included food that you could quite easily go and get yourself from the inclusive buffet - this seemed really wrong... If you want a good firm massage I think you should ask for the sports one, I put myself off this and then regretted paying over £100 for a gentle wipe up and down my body... This is also the second time this month I have visited somewhere very costly which adds an charity donation to the invoice without checking it is okay...

I was left feeling distinctly underwhelmed by Champneys Henlow... We had to pay extra if we wanted to check-in before 3pm... There were far too many things on the evening menu that included a supplementary payment... But that didn't stop them trying to charge us for them when we checked out... The well-worn health spa robe, which had seen many better days, even had a security tab!...

...The resort has just undergone a refurbishment in the communist areas which is fabulous but unfortunately I think it’s at the expense of the food on offer... The risotto was like eating a stodgy rice pudding, the pasta so over cooked it was stuck together... We did not enjoy or eat one meal there and in fact I lost 3 pounds in 3 days and I did not go for that reason... So in theory we pay more money to eat awful food get ignored if you complain - but we would get an upgrade...

My daughter and I had a wonderful 2 night stay at Champneys Henlow... Everyone was so friendly and motivated to help us with whatever we required... Particular mention must go to Hendrik the chef, who went over and beyond, in accommodating our complex dietary requirements... I had the most wonderful facial from Rosie, who is an apprentice, though you would never know it... She was so skilled and professional and when I return to Champneys, she will be my go to beauty therapist... Lastly a big thank-you to Sophie in the House of Hair, who gave me an amazing blow-dry, which lasted for days...

I had booked a spa day for my wife and her friend. On arrival she was greeted by the receptionist Kayleigh, this was my wife's first spa and first time visiting Champneys in Henlow... Kayleigh explained how everything was set up and how to access all the facilities my wife says this totally put her at ease... She was taken through for a light breakfast with plenty of choices... Overall she enjoyed the spa day and the facilities and lunch were great... The therapist Kim was excellent, she talked my wife through the treatments and the options, she totally put her at ease and she fully enjoyed the massage and facial... For me I liked the fact that they set up a charge system so she didn't need to worry about carrying cards and cash and everything was just charged to my credit card... Not knowing what was for lunch I had booked them both in for an afternoon tea, overall she enjoyed the food and cakes on the afternoon tea... Then she asked for a G&T and was told they only do wine, It is hard to believe that they don't have a bar and couldn't make a G&T... When the food arrived the butter had obviously come straight from the fridge and was un-spreadable, when she mentioned this to the waiter he took the butter away and returned at least 5 minutes later, it was obvious the butter had been microwaved and was now a runny mess... Also via the website or ringing them, there was no way of booking a custom package, if I had known the provided lunch was basically a 3-course menu I wouldn't have booked the afternoon tea but the website provides very limited info on what actually included in the spa day... Once I had booked all this there was no e-mail confirmation of the treatments or afternoon tea and no linking it to my initial booking... Overall great spa day, disappointing afternoon tea, and a complex and difficult booking system...

...The staff organised an Easter egg hunt and I was lucky enough to find one and have a 25 minute massage in the hands free chair! I had a great mani and pedicure with Rosie, an apprentice who was lovely and did a great job!... Michelle in the cafe/bar makes a great cappuccino and is always smiling and happy!... Fred in the restaurant was very helpful and arranged a decorated Happy Birthday plate for me at dinner and then made us a Bucks Fizz for my birthday breakfast!... I had a really lovely birthday weekend and felt very spoilt...

My friend and I booked with our Vitality discount, if we had paid full price for this stay we would have been very upset and annoyed. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, some of them seem disinterested and unfriendly... They tried to serve us our desserts before we’d even had our mains!... Not really any apologies for this, didn’t offer us another drink, had to ask twice for a drinks menu, had to take water off another table as we were fed up of waiting for them to bring it over... Most of the other guests were complaining about the absolute sham of a dinner service it was... On the second night they were quicker but I saw at least 3 other guests complain about the food... Breakfast is pretty crap too, have to pay extra if you want anything cooked which should be included given the price of the rooms... Only wine is served with dinner, you can’t really get any other drinks... We tried to get a Diet Coke from the cafe but were told ‘this is a health resort we don’t have it’ yeah fair enough but it’s a Diet Coke, we aren’t asking for a bag of sugar, plus you have huge cakes on the counter, so that really didn’t make sense and made us feel pretty silly!... Careful on check out they add a £5 per day charity donation without asking you or even telling you what the charity is… I would love to know the cause, which I expect is the champneys bank account...

...The experience was top notch and the service was incredible from start to finish. No detail was too small to address from a delicious coffee and breakfast spread on arrival to additional towels and lockers provided instantly when needed... The management team went above and beyond to ensure we all knew where various wet rooms and relaxation areas were located and even helped us in organising a time schedule and selecting meals in advance so that we were not rushed in arriving for or enjoying our lunch... Our group departed from the spa feeling relaxed and recharged for the rest of our weekend... Huge complements to the staff as it would not have been as amazing without their professional, organised manner thoughout our stay...

...This is a great resort, however the restaurant and service in the restaurant massively lets it down. Pros Treatment rooms, spa and pool are amazing Amazing treatment from Lina who has worked there 16 years, she was fantastic, I wish I lived nearer to book treatments with her The building is lovely, lovely roaring fires, lovely grounds changing rooms are really nice, appreciate the GHD hairdryers and straighters Cons The Restaurant!... What a let down, had to ask twice to order, each time the server said I will send someone else... Waited ages for a drink paid £15 for glass of LP champagne think it was about a 50ml serving Food: Scallops- supplement £5.99 not worth it 3 tiny scallops, fish cake dry, seabass was rubber and not fresh served with mushy peas... Breakfast- awful, asked for a fresh coffee and the guy at the bar said I would be better to go to the main coffee shop?... He was making other people juice and when I asked he seemed annoyed then I got one for £8... I think I read someone else say they need some customer service training - I agree... Also having to queue and wait at ever meal is annoying Lunch was ok...

...The lady at the coffee bar did not charge us... Loved the communal areas and games available ,without these the stay would not have been so enjoyable... They don't pick up the phone, don't reply to emails and you're on hold forever- not a luxury experience at all... It's a beautiful house but the business needs to take ownership of the customer service experience of all the hotels as it's simply not good enough to not reply to paying customers...

...After a  friendly, efficient check in by Caitlin, we headed off for breakfast. I have a gluten allergy and thanks to prior organisation by Matt, a gluten-free breakfast awaited me... In our experience, contrary to the experience upon which some guests seem to have encountered; we found all staff ...from Lucy (the Manager) herself, Matt (who heads Reception) to all staff throughout the Resort to be smiley and helpful... The ever helpful Rosina was on hand to assist me with gf  safe choices and all staff were fun and efficient... Lovely Brendon was on hand to provide coffee and we just HAD to have a piece of gf cake to accompany  coffee!...

Also I have never had to get my own water after a massage anywhere previously... The towels laid on for a massage were very rough and waffle material... I have just returned from an overnight stay at Champneys Henlow Grange and I really can't recommend it highly enough!... From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we were well looked after by the exceptional staff who were not only friendly but also highly efficient and well trained... ...Having visited other Champneys I’ve concluded what really sets Henlow apart is the staff... It really feels like coming home when you come here regularly with such a warm welcome from staff... Standout members were Craig on reception and Matt who was so helpful and professional at checkout... And we had never met Jackie in the restaurant until this visit but she was an absolute customer services master, what a warm welcoming personality, amazing 🤩 The food was better than ever with bigger portions than before, although I do wish the buffet would come back for lunch...

...The refurbished areas are good it’s lovely and clean but sadly the staff really let it down very abrupt, not clear or particularly friendly and don’t even get me going on the reservations line! I lost count with hours I ve spent waiting in line for someone to answer the phone and not being able to book a return voucher online this is un clear (not mentioned!)... I then Sent email replied to say received (automated!)... Enjoy your visit if you have a booking sadly don’t expect the lovely buffet they used lay out at lunch time you are now sat on top of other visitors and it’s table service with people working who look like they would rather be somewhere else ... Maybe the staff are treated like the customers?...

We were greeted with a warm welcome by the friendly reception team and we got taken on a guided tour of the resort to refresh our memories... The facilities are fabulous and kept clean, theres always someone collecting towels and mopping the floors in the wet areas... On the evening of our anniversary, whilst we were having dinner the team had setup our bedroom candle lit and with amazing decorations, one of which being swans made from towels in a heart shape!... The staff who work at Henlow are fantastic they are all an asset to the company with smiles on their faces!... We purchased return vouchers again so we will see you again... I was there 5 nights and im a fussy eater so every single meal time one or other of them went to great trouble to make sure I ate well... Tina, Becky, Elle brilliant masseuses... The air and company's own water are fresher here... Front desk staff and especially Lindsay, who has the exuberant personality and skill to match the scale of the architecture, are excellent and welcoming... Rosina made my first visit after some time away... Her caring, thoughtful efficiency and dedication made any hurdles dietary restrictions could have caused vanish and allowed me to feel included and able to enjoy everything else without having medical issues interfere... Vibrant Sophia, on my next visit, was also innovative, intuitive in her immediate solutions (to aid helping to ward off my hypoglycemia, for eg.)... and like Rosina, enhanced a guest's experience with a genuine warmth and friendliness... Jane, in the shop, is absolutely a gem and from helping me charge my phone over the weekend so I could call home when I forgot my converter to helping me hunt down an elusive Champneys teddy bear for my "vintage" mum to editing my choice of bathing suits from her boutique collection, she proved a priceless asset... Juliet also so friendly and helpful with all the intriguing items in the boutique...

...The standard of the spa area was disappointing. The men's steam and sauna rooms are tiny and also dated... The main pool area could also do with some TLC... This was the main reason for our stay so I'm glad she enjoyed it... Be aware that there are certain options which you will have to pay a supplement for... A small bottle of Peroni was £5 and glass of juice was nearly £4... We had a two for one voucher and paid £300 for a one night stay which included a three course evening meal and breakfast...

I want to start by saying the staff were lovely and the facilities were nice and clean... Firstly, when asked for some ice and a bucket to be delivered to our room, the receptionist explained this service would be an additional £7.50… I have never in my whole life been charged for this service... I have stayed in 5* hotels in central London and not been charged for this service... Really disappointing and such easy things to get right seeing they are a healthy retreat... Put in some amazing salads that are presented beautifully and try a healthy alternative for a fry up??... We ended up going to the local pub ‘The Crown’ which was AMAZING!!... I’d highly recommend going and not paying for a microwaved lunch!...

...What a sweet and cosy place to stay and relax . Right from entry with Craig On the front desk whose warm and professional welcome extended throughout our two night stay... So helpful and easy to approach ..to the lovely dark haired young guy behind the cafe bar ( sorry I didnt get his name) All the young staff were smily helpful and respectful making the stay so nice... note … the food at lunch needs to cater for people who are light eaters- a salad or two should always be an option on the menu especially as its a Health Spa but the food on the whole was good and more attention to the facilities in the rooms...

Before lunch time, we decided that as we were already so relaxed that we would stay for dinner if they had the availability, which they did, and speedily confirmed a dinner reservation for 6.30pm - perfect - as was the meal and service from Kirsty in the restaurant!... Just returned home from the most wonderful weekend away at Champney’s Henlow. From the moment we arrived until we left, the staff were so warm, friendly and attentive; they really couldn’t have done any more for us... The spa facilities were enjoyable and very clean, with a huge pool area which was great for lounging around during the day... The restaurant was one of the highlights, with lots of healthy yet tasty options on the menu and a selection of lovely puddings if you wanted a sweet treat... I also had an Elemis facial which was one of the most relaxing experiences I’ve ever had - the therapist almost sent me to sleep!...

...Staff are helpful, friendly, rooms and facilities are very clean... Food was nice but there are some supplements so you need to be aware of £ sigbs which indicate a supplement The pool area was lovely and I managed to get a lounger... However, they do water sports in the pool so can be loud with music and activities... The breakout relaxation rooms in my view were limited and usually full up... I have been to Tring Champneys in the past they have waterbeds... I was hoping Henlow would too but they do not which was slightly disappointing Overall it was very good but the fee things mentioned made it a 4/5...

I had a wonderful, special day today at Henlow Champneys. Tegan, the young lady who booked our stay was very informative and knowledgeable. Charlie in the coffee bar bought us the most amazing mocha and we kept bumping into her in the day which made us laugh. Angelika and Toby were very pleasant and friendly in the restaurant. My massage from Abi was the best and she put me at my ease. Gary, the maintenance man cleaned the hydrotherapy pool for us just before we got in. A great day!

The Good: Oh my goodness, the food was divine! Soup for starters & Roasted peppers & crème brûlée. Each dish as amazing as the other. The therapist, I had a massage with Becky. Listened to exactly what I wanted, and did a great job. The gym, used the treadmill this morning. Good apparatus. The pool and surrounds are very grand. Steam room, mini sauna and jacuzzis excellent. I’m sure during the warmer months the grounds would be amazing. Rooms nicely decorated. The could be improved: my radiator was off in my room. I was frozen until I realised. The showers in the pool area could do with a wipe down during the day. Lots of hair. Yuck. Intro could have been better, I didn’t know when the classes were on etc. the lovely lemon water by the poolside would be a nice touch. They used to have a coin operated sunbed here which I always used. That’s gone now. The Poor: Single supplement charge. I like to spa alone. Charging extra doesn’t make sense given you are one person less eating anyway! Also don’t be fooled. Cooked breakfast is chargeable as is latte or any fancy coffees.

We went to the twilight spa session on a Friday evening. We arrived at 4pm expecting an easy check in, however we had to queue up and wait at reception for at least 30 minutes. Once we were checked in we were then told to wait in the room next door for our robes and slippers, which added on more waiting around time and less spa time. They also said help yourself to refreshments, but there were no glasses! Once we finally got into the spa, it felt messy (towels everywhere) and chaotic with few options to sit down. We definitely did not feel relaxed. Thankfully we had a nice massage and dinner was well organised and sufficient. I felt they were understaffed and had more guests using the facilities than it could cope with. Definitely won’t be rushing back!

I am reviewing both Erin and Amber who are spa therapists. Erin was an amazing masseuse - warm and kind, she was very sweet and knowledgeable. Amber did a wonderful facial and had a lovely personality. I recommend them both. We are staying at Champneys overnight and I’ll be very happy if the rest of the stay is as good as our trip to the spa.

Very good facilities, good size pool and good fitness timetable. Food was of good quality and I enjoyed my spa treatments, a big thank you to Clare as she was able to assess what I needed and alleviate my back pain. Whilst we were staying we went to the Christmas market which was being hosted on site. We enjoyed mulled wine & Prosecco served by Thomas he was very friendly and professional and shared lots of information about the hotel. Thank you to Toby also, for a beautifully made coffee and for his biscoff cake which my friend and i tried.. it was delicious! Additionally, I had a few requests which the staff were happy to accommodate. Overall, good service and will be returning again!

Another great Champneys's stay. You just can't beat Champneys for time out and stress relief. I treat myself to a Champneys's stay once a year and, once again, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Meals were excellent - such great flavours and variety. They have worked hard to eliminate queues at check out time, which is a really good change. My Elemis treatment by Karen was possibly the BEST treatment I've ever had. Outstanding, thank you Karen. My room was gorgeous, overlooking the weir and I slept really well. The grounds are beautiful. Steph on the head desk was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble, she was efficient, professional and welcoming, thank you. So many hotels lack a team leader / manager like Steph and it makes all the difference - to be greeted in such a lovely way and to have someone like Steph make sure everything was ok as you leave - fantastic, really fantastic. Thank you.

Just back from our bi-annual pilgrimage to this wonderful spa. We always enjoy our breaks here and thought it was time for a review and some words of appreciation for some standout staff. The situation is so peaceful, it’s a real getaway. You can be as active or as slovenly as you wish. Our passion is treatments and the lovely Melanie on spa reception helped us plan a timetable that left us walking on air. All the therapists are fantastic but special acknowledgement this time to Tatjiana who gave up her time to work through a regimen with me, Kim who is one of our regulars, Abbie who gave the best deep tissue massage and Claire M for her reflexology. If you think a spa will leave you hungry, you couldn’t be more wrong. The food is excellent, nutritious and plentiful. The breakfast buffet is stand out in my opinion, made better by the lovely lady with a blonde bob and glasses whose name we forget, yet we are always thrilled to see and chat with at every visit. Also, compliments to the chef who cooks fillet steak to perfection for evening meals. You pay a supplement for the steak, but it’s totally worth it! Thanks also to Thomas at the restaurant/pool bar. He serves drinks with a smile and always happy to have a chat or give recommendations. All in all, a fabulous reset ahead of the Christmas madness and with the great value return vouchers, we will most definitely be back!

The facilities were fabulous and the breakfast and lunch delicious. Staff were nice with a particular shout out to Mason on reception and Kelsey the therapist. Loungers and seating around the pool were nice but need to be policed a bit more as some people hogged them leaving towels draped over them for long periods.

We went to the restaurant this evening just for a drink, after a swim, and Lisa went out of her way to get us everything we needed quickly and efficiently despite being in the midst of a busy service.
