From the beginning of our 2 week stay at Secrets Akumal everything was perfect. The check in process, room attendant (Diego in B 9c), the Restaurants are all amazing, complements to all the chefs especially Chef Diego in Portofino and servers Daniel and Sambino in Bordeaux.

I had a great time at this resort. The resort was clean, the staff extremely friendly and happy to help. We were on a trip with 6 other couples. The rooms were beautiful. We had a partial ocean view (not really much of a view of the ocean. Next time would either get full ocean

Overall an outstanding resort. The service from staff was always amazing and they seemed to really enjoy their jobs. Any issues we had were little more than 'hiccups' and would not be worthwhile mentioning as there were just too many highlights to this location. Even something

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our birthdays and we were not disappointed. While we didn’t inform the staff what we were celebrating during our stay, the service we received was exceptional. From our building concierge to security on the beach, everyone was friendly and

We've been to a handful of Secrets before and a number of other all inclusive properties. We went to eat, relax, walk and sleep. Simple as that. We hit all of the restaurants except the French and were delighted at each. Plenty of options to choose from, great portions and

chilly in my opinion, the classic "once you get in it's fine" . went in Jan. I am also a "water wimp" reading lots of travel sites would need to go south of Puerto rico for warm.

Every morning there is a crew that rakes in any and all seaweed that happens to be on the beach. The resort pays special attention, keeping the beach clean.

. We never used them but they did seem quite full and we were there for 8 days. The covered “huts “ that have two lounge chairs under each were quite easy to find. There is always a person on the beach helping each day to find you a place to lay so you do not have to be in the sand. If you want a cabana I would think it would be a good idea to do this and reserve. You cannot do it through your personal concierge , you will have to do beach reservations for most things with the person that is always on the beach daily .

I am not 100% certain, but I believe any room facing the ocean is considered an "ocean front" room. Perhaps a more accurate term would be "ocean view." Buildings 1 and 2 are the closest to the beach. Those rooms are my definition of "ocean front." We had a wonderful room in Building 1 facing the ocean. An added bonus is that they have a fantastic concierge right in that building, and she is readily available to help. I don't know if that service is also provided in other buildings or not. There is always excellent concierge service provided in the main lobby as well, but having one in our building was really convenient.

"don't pay for partial ocean view. either go for full ocean view or don't bother. "
"Building 3, second floor "Tropical Room"! We loved having the two jacuzzis in our suite. One inside and one on our balcony!"
"We had a room on the fourth floor of building 3...nice view of the beach and property."
"Get a top floor for best view. "
"Rooms on the top floor of building three provided the best ocean views."
