This resort is absolutely beautiful. The restaurants were great, excellent drinks. The staff couldn’t have been better. Turndown service was such a treat. Our room had a swim up pool which was super nice. We would totally stay here again. Access to so many great excursions. Fun activities at the resort many nights while we were there. Poolside staff were fast and friendly.
Secrets Akumal was incredible. Every day we had great weather, great surroundings, amazing staff, incredible views and delicious food. The excursions taken away from the resort were equally amazing! Thank you for making our trip perfect!
I had the pleasure of spending 5 days at this beautiful resort! Went for a quick girls trip with my longtime friend and we had a wonderful time. The staff was amazing and very attentive. They remember your name! Speaking of Staff, I wanted to give a special shout-out to our bartender Isaac! He was so awesome and we spent a lot of time chatting with him! There were so many staff, I wish I could remember everyone’s names! They were all wonderful! I have been to several resorts and several Secrets resorts and this is one of my favorites of all time! Loved the dinner shows every night, that is one of my favorite parts of this resort! You must check out AkumArt! I believe it’s every Wednesday! We met sooo many people here! Some that we spent a lot of time with the and will be friends with for life. Loved that there is something for everyone. If you want to relax, you can. If you want to have some fun and go to the club, you can! Food was good for an all inclusive and lots of options! I wasn’t a fan of the hibatchi but I’m pretty picky about hibatchi as I am spoiled with great options at home. Italian was wonderful! Loved it! Did the outdoor shows a couple nights so didn’t have the chance to check out all the restaurants. Unfortunately the water was a bit cloudy while we were there due to wind so the snorkeling wasn’t ideal but still super fun! I took a fall on my first night. The tile was wet on the walkout to my swimout and I slipped pretty good. The resort was awesome! Someone came to my room right away to clean out and bandage my toe. Then every day after, I was able to go to the lobby and have the medic clean it out and re-wrap it. I walked down the beach in hopes to go eat at one of the local restaurants in town for lunch but it was closed so we didn’t walk all the way there. Next time for sure! I am already planning a second trip here with my husband and a few other couples for this summer! I am typically not the type of person to go back to the same resort twice, but I want to experience it in a different way and venture off to the cenotes as well! Happy to answer any questions!…
Absolutely disgraceful customer service. We booked to go to secrets Akumal for a friend's wedding in May. The day before we were supposed to leave, our daughter tested positive for covid. Due to CDC guidelines and laws, we were unable to travel to the hotel. Our travel agency has been reaching out to them to try to request a refund, change of dates, or just hotel credit and they denied everything, despite having documentation emailed to them proving that my daughter had covid and I would not be allowed to fly. I tried calling the hotel directly to ask them to reconsider their decision, and Viviana was extremely rude and unprofessional. She would not speak to me, just insisted if I booked through a third party, I am not allowed to call the hotel directly, I needed to go through the travel agency. We are still in a pandemic; how can a huge chain hotel not have policies in place for covid?? Other large chain hotels such as Sandals have great covid policies in place, such as free change of dates or credit for a year after cancelation. I will never book a secrets hotel ever again and I will be telling everyone I meet to never book one either.…
Another great trip to Secrets Akumal! WE upgraded to the master suite which was beautiful! Had not traveled to Mexico in May before and it was very hot..35 or 36 degrees. The beach offered a nice breeze which combined with the colds drinks allowed us to stay cool. We dined in all restaurants except the Mexican and the Japanese and the quality of food was great but the presentation was fantastic! Angel provided us with exceptional service at the Portifino restaurant. We spent a couple of days at the Tranquil pool and then a couple at the middle pool and the last few days at the beach. Manuel who is a pool concierge was outstanding and provided exceptional service...what a great guy! The Sargasum was a problem the first few days but the team worked extremely hard to get rid of it all. Would be nice if they had more Stand up paddle boards but Miguel who was running the paddle board trips did a great job! He had some difficult guests and he kept his cool and handled the situation as a true professional! Our third trip here and we will return for a fourth!!…
Margarito made our trip amazing the service over all was 5 star Food quality for all inclusive was good lots of option and choices The 3 different pools also was a nice touch to satisfy everyone’s needs
Just arrived home yesterday after a wonderful mother daughter trip to celebrate my birthday. I was originally disappointed because I didn’t get the building I requested a number of times via email starting 8 months ago when I made the reservation all the way up to 2 weeks out as I know they begin room assignments around that time. I mainly wanted it because it was my daughter’s first visit to this particular Secrets while my husband and I go as often as possible. He and I will be back in August. But I decided nothing that simple could rob me of joy so happily took the room assigned which was lovely as always. I must thank Ivan at the Bali beds for solving my Bali bed debacle. I had requested and had front row reserved but when I went the day before to check to be sure, that’s not what I was assigned. I have email confirmations and Ivan very professionally and pleasantly stepped in and handled it beautifully. He and concierge Jonas (Luna’s) dad took great care of us. Alejandro at the Rendevous bar makes a mean spicy Margarita and we enjoyed his company as well. Abraham was our server at the pool and our drink was never empty and he happily moved that dang umbrella every which way for us. Ivan at the pool assisted me quickly when I stepped on a bee. Loved the pizza but the best lunch poolside this week was hands down that taco bar!!!! It was 🔥 fire!! Oscar and Miguel and Metz kept us laughing on the entertainment team from morning til night. The hotel grounds are still as lovely as ever and the beach was ridiculously clear of seaweed except for the first two days, but as always, the hard working crew keeps up with it beautifully. The wildlife was in full swing and we always enjoy watching them. Swam with the turtles almost every day with my guide Sergio from Akumal Dive Center who is a complete turtle whisperer. Then we would do the tropical fish later in the day at the other end of the resort. All of the restaurants are excellent, but if you get me there twice, they are my favorite. This restaurant has never “ won” but boy it took home the gold this time. Best fish was grilled seabass at Seaside. I mean to tell you I have never had a better piece of fish in my life. I always find the steak usually killed in these resorts but the cut my daughter had ( it was a filet but they called it a Baseball cut) was also cooked beautifully. Antonio is the chef and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to him. But the standout of all the Secret’s family this time was Antonio from Seaside. The next night after that delicious meal my daughter was exhausted from judging the bartending contest ( lol) and decided to order room service. I went back to Seaside again and asked to be seated with Antonio. Fish of the day was mahi mahi which was fine . Lo and behold, he goes to another restaurant and gets a piece of seabass for me and the second Antonio once again made it melt in my mouth. His niceness was definitely the peak of my trip. Oceana was good but it took almost three hours to eat and I was just cranky by the time it got there. We got up to leave but were convinced to stay. If you are not going to feed me then at least keep my wine glass filled. They did have someone new as a server so since it was my favorite on previous visits, I overlooked it. Himitsu we visited twice. Leonel is a great showman and the food is cooked perfectly. Don’t forget the yum yum sauce. Portofino was fine but not my favorite but that could be because I have an Italian husband and know the food well. Didn’t try Bordeaux this time because I was on a seafood roll! The only second of rudeness that we encountered was on departure when a bellman ( and Ronnie is a fabulous one) whose name I won’t mention literally snatched my bags out of my hand and said soooo rudely ‘get in the van!’ We were down there thirty minutes early so I don’t know what his problem was. I still tipped and my daughter was livid that I did but I figured anyone can have a bad day so I’m not calling him out. But I will see you again in August my friend and we might have a sit down. Oh, and we didn’t lay eyes on our concierge once while there which I have never experienced. My daughter kept trying to get something for my birthday but the front desk kept saying talk to our building concierge but she was never at the desk. So she did her own thing which was nicer anyway. All in all, another fabulous trip and we can’t wait to return. They must have stopped doing banners on the door or champagne because we didn’t get either but that was fine as well. This is still my favorite Secrets despite a couple of hiccups. See you soon friends. I have tons of pics and will post a few but feel free to ask if anyone wants to see more. Sorry for the length. We Southern gals are wordy!…
We spent the first week of April at Secrets Akumal. This is the 7th Secrets property we have been to and is most certainly the best Secrets we have stayed at. It is now are favourite. We had a Prefered Club partial ocean view room. The room was was big, beautiful and kept exceptional clean whole week that we stayed there. Beautifull views from our balcony. We received turn down service every night which was a nice touch. Quality control is strong. Most of our time was spent at the beach. We received exceptionally service from both Darcy and Ismael are beach staff servers. On a couple of occassions we ordered Club sandwhiches and fries and they delivered to us on the beach. The sandwhich and fries arrived quickly and were hot! The two of them always came by and made sure we were well taken care of and had everything we needed. Clearly exceptional service. The resort is stunnlingly beautiful and gives one a feeling of being in the middle jungle or lush forest. Lots of walking paths that are surrounded by trees, shrubs, ponds and lagoons. It took us a day or two to get our bearings straight. Restaurant food and service was outstanding. Otoniel served us each morning at the Market Cafe and he was fantastic. After the first day he new exactly what we wanted and made sure it arrived promply after we sat down. Very friendly and professional. All restaurants for dinner were incrediable but Patio and Oceana were our favourites and both exceeded our expectations. Both evenings the food and service was 100% perfect. Hats off to the manager of Patio and I believe our waiter was Alphonso and strong kudos go to Eddie our waiter at Oceana. The wood fired pizza is a must try for lunch. The nightly entertainment was fantastic. The Beatles show, Pirate show, Fire show and Elemets show were all Fantastic and highly entertaining. Prefered Club staff were all patient, professional and pleasant to deal with. They promptly took care of any requests that we had and always followed up to ensure we were satisfied. Outstanding!! Overall, the resort was breathtakingly beautiful, the quality control of the service and maintenance of our room was exceptional high, Exceptional service, excellent food and fantastic shows. Easily the best Secrets resort we been to and we have been strongly recommending it to all our friends and collegues.…
This is the first "All inclusive" resort I have visited, and the experience was amazing. The primary reason for this was the staff. Without exception, each and every member of your extraordinary staff was delightful. It has made me want to learn Spanish so I could better communicate.
Service, staff and food was great. Room was clean and comfortable. And snorkeling was awesome. The bonus was getting the bali bed for the whole day on our last day of the vacation. The preferred lounge had great selection of beverages and the snack was great.
