If you are not an American middle class don't go there. Everything is ok but that's all. It's a big complex with a lot of room for different size of wallet. I don't understand why people go there, it's useless. Nothing is interesting. The only good point is the alcohol and the food which are free and in quantity (not quality). Even the tennis court or the football pitch are ok but not nice. Everything is average, really nothing more. If you have a choice, don't go there. Last point, you American guys who eat and drink as it's your last day on earth please calm down, life is not a food competition.

We have been to Bahia Principe resorts a number of times now and have stayed at Coba more than once. The room was clean and sparkly on arrival and it was cleaned daily. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The food in the restaurants and buffet was delicious. They have the cutest little animals called coatis. We are already planning trip 15! Thank you LBP Akumal for another wonderful week!!

I genuinely can't comprehend how this hotel gets any decent reviews ? From arriving to leaving was a horrible experience never mind a holiday. Check in manic, unorganised, cases left all over the lobby, steps and road, golf buggies flying about, people pushing to get on them first, staff driving them very rude and abrupt. We were 'dumped' in the dark & rain on roadside and told our room is over there in that block. Struggled to find room then keys didn't work. Got soaked walking back to reception as so far away. Room was disgusting, it absolutely stunk of mould, fittings hanging off walls, lights hanging off, mould in most places, furniture cracked and trims split, thick black mould all over the bathroom, cracked floor tiles, plaster off ceiling/walls and far too many other things to mention !! We rang reception who said they wouldn't move us. Breakfast was by far the worst we've had in 4 - 5 star hotel, lukewarm and looked like 'leftovers' ? Couldn't walk through reception without being hounded by timeshare salesman who were so pushy it was very scary. Had a phone call in room demanding we go to reception for a gift, when we insisted the 'so called gift' should be brought to us they hung up. After speaking to another guest they told us it was a timeshare trick to get you to listen for hours then given a very hard sell. Couldn't get bookings for A La Carte restaurants. Weekends were unbearable as hotel overrun with locals who get 'cheap rates'and they all behaved appallingly and bullying people for sunbeds and pool bar stools. Pool bar areas stunk of hot bins, tiles missing everywhere with sharp edges on stools and bar edges, mould around pool cleaned and swept back into pool. Entertainment was very poor but we couldn't go anywhere else. Beach was unsightly with plastic barriers in sea. At checkout we were asked to pay approx $380 for extras in a restaurant which we hadn't been in. They couldn't tell me what this was for and we had a heated argument for about 30 minutes until a manager said we couldn't get on the bus unless we pay. I demanded to see what we had signed for and they couldn't show me as we hadn't signed anything. Eventually a TUI rep sorted it as we didn't owe anything. Spoke to people on the bus who said their room bills had loads of extras on which they hadn't incurred. Some were asked for money at check out without being shown what it was for. Other than the very poor standards, I've never felt so scared and intimidated on holiday before, it was disgusting how we were treated. I could go on and on about numerous more things but won't as I've wasted 2 weeks of my life with this place. I can honestly say this Hotel and it's staff have put us off ever returning to Mexico or using Bahia hotels ever again. It is BY FAR the worst holiday and hotel we have ever experienced.

We stayed here late last year and it was the worst holiday I have ever Had. Our original booking was with Thomas Cook for a fabulous resort, but we decided to book a holiday here rather than lose out on a holiday at that time completely. We wished we'd saved the money! Dated and dangerous falling apart room; the light fitting was held on by silicone and was falling off, my partner leaned lightly on the balcony railing and it came away from the wall. When we looked at it, it was held together with only inch long wooden dowling rods. Terrible, leftover, luke warm food. There were some very lovely servers though, they were the only staff that made us feel welcome the entire stay apart from the girl who checked us in. Couldn't get any restaurant reservations so can't comment. Beach has unsightly water breaks, no tropical paradise view there. Couldn't find much to do, the entertainment was awful, repetitive and budget. Rude concierge who was snappy at me when I asked if he could please print an email for me, even accused me of pulling a face at him when I leaned over to look at his screen as he complained he 'couldn't do it'. Was I the first to ever request an email printed? Honestly. At the end of our stay another couple told us about how they were getting miniature spirits in their room, but the whole time we felt like we were begging for enough coffee every day. Multiple days we got back to the room and nothing had been topped up despite leaving great tips. The tipping obviously stopped at that point. The pool actually had thick lines of scum around the edges which we witnessed just being scrubbed off back into the water with a stiff brush. There were cracked tiles around the pool bar and the pool bar bins smelt atrocious. I understand that it's hot but change them and clean them more regularly if you expect guests to have to sit next to them. I was bruised by the masseuse, told by the TUI rep it would be sorted, and yet still charged 200USD on checkout. Rude manager said he had had no complaint and accused me of making it up to get a free massage! We documented all these issues with the TUI rep in resort and yet absolutely nothing was done about any of them. They just didn't care. We left not even wanting to ever return to a Mexico. It's a shame because away from the resort we had a lovely time, but in the resort we couldn't find anything to warrant even 3 stars.

I have visited Bahia Principe Grand Coba twice and both times my expectations have been exceeded, The staff are attentive and very welcoming and they made our stay very memorable. There was a good variety of food on offer which was all of a high quality, the swim up bar was a favourite experience of mine. The pools were large and there was plenty of space to lounge around if you don’t fancy getting wet. The entertainment was very enjoyable and there were shows throughout the evenings to attend. The location of the hotel was extremely convenient as it was a very short drive to the beach and it is close to many shops. For a reasonable extra cost you have the chance to swim with dolphins which I chose to do and very much enjoyed it as it was an experience I shall never forget. To conclude I highly recommend visiting Bahia Principe Grand Coba as it is an amazing experience for any traveler wether you are an adventure seeker or simply just looking for some rest and relaxation. This hotel is great for all ages and is definitely worth a visit.
