So my bf surprised me on a trip to MX. Upon arrival our shuttle was not ready we had to wait at the airport for like a hour. Finally we get to the hotel to find out our room have been downgraded because of low capacity. We were moved to a Villa that had a musty smell and dusty. I honestly think the rooms have been sitting up due to COVID, however the maids should have cleaned our room upon arrival. Finally we make it to the buffet only to see a Python! Yes a big snake so please beware. Thank God it was real late when we arrived but I could only imagine what could have taken place in the daytime. So it was my birthday I did not get no Birthday set-up. My bf called several of times and they just kept saying they were short staffed. Like the last day i received some fruit and a bottle of wine I was not impressed at all. The staff was nice the hotel was beautiful but i think they could of done better. The food was not the best nothing tasted authentic. My experience was not the best but I made some good memories.…
Overall we had a lovely stay. Breakfast, lunch, kids club, gym, spa, beach and swimming pools all 5 star. Accommodation basic but clean. No baby club open despite website indicating it was. A babysitter was easily sourced for a few hours in the morning and the manager Pedro was very responsive to our compliant about this and the matter resolved excellently. Evening meals a bit hit and miss. Food quality also a bit hit and miss. We enjoyed la Lola and ribs and more the most.
Taking "pandemic" times - it was a good family stay. We will reconsider booking once again the resort. It was very good that hotel offered free round trip transfer from airport. White Sands beach was well maintained.
This was our second year staying here and we loved it! The staff is so friendly and everything was very clean with Covid. Our favorite bartenders were Venus and Jacinto at the white sands pool. Both of them were great and so much fun. If you’re there definitely look out for them
Pro: 1.Nice beach and not crowded about 1/4 mile private. Rocky bring shoes. 2. Free parking 3. If you love cats it’s your place. Cats everywhere very friendly for scraps. Actually cute and friendly 4. Specialty restaurant food good 5. Bed ok, room musty smelling but hey it’s the beach. 6. Nice maids good job. Cons: 1. Would hate at post Covid full capacity. Enjoying not busy resort 2. All ATM’s broken and no one cares 3. Served Mayo with stale chips at beach. Not salsa-, Mayo. 4. Buffet awful. Beyond awful. Inedible.maybe better at full capacity? Like pot roast at lunch bad. All saucy reheated leftover food. No lobster, shrimp, prime rib, cheap thin pork chops and steaks like 3 oz flat grizzly. 5. Cheap liquor. Not good. Bad cheap but tecate. They reuse cups so sometimes your beer tastes like Pina colada. 6 loud staff. Landscaping trucks with breaks squeaking. Maids dragging furniture around above you at 8 am 7. Today building alarm going off at 6:45 am. We are all up calling security. Guy on duty doesn’t speak English so took half hour to resolve. I don’t get up at 6:45 am on vacation. 8. I usually tip but service is bad. Everyone does not care and in no hurry. It’s bad. And of course EVERYONE says no English. Clearly way to avoid helping when it’s 50 times a day. 9. Pools not heated and freezing. Barely anyone swimming 10. Today out of towels at 11:30 am at 20% capacity. Again can’t imagine when full how bad service would be. 11. $10 charge on all room service Overall i paid $200 a night over New Years weekend. Secrets was $550 so it’s worth it for not busy during Covid. I will never come back again. Too many other great places. Depends on your goals.…
