My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our first (definitely not last) visit to ABBWR in January 2020, for 11 incredible days. The location is breathtaking, the Resort is wonderful, the vibe is fantastic, the entertainment is top notch, the food - oh my gosh the food! The flora and fauna are amazing, but the staff are extraordinary! They make this place rise above all others! I hope I remember everyone as it was all of you who made our trip to paradise so memorable. Carlos – butler extraordinaire, you helped make ABBWR feel like home to us. Dago & Lourdes (Patio Bar) – you two are a dream team and we cant wait to see you both again, (I’ll work on my Spanish 😉) Diana (Kooban) – you are a lovely hostess, it was always a pleasure to see you, Fabriola (Lobby Bar) thank you again for teaching me how to wish Dago Happy Birthday (feliz cumpleanos) in Spanish, I am forever grateful 😊, Auorara – you are an absolute light, your morning greetings made our day and you have some wicked grill skills; magical! Wilbert, Lillianna, Marabella…. you’re all fantastic. I know I’ve missed so many others! We’re already planning our next trip back, honestly, there is no need to go anywhere else; ABBWR has it all and then some <3

We were so fortunate to have had our 4th visit to this truly wonderful hotel just before lockdown due to the coronavirus. As usual everything about ABBWR is absolutely perfect and every member of staff cannot do enough for you to ensure that all your needs are met and that you have the most perfect holiday. We would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return for our 5th visit next year.

Lorenzo (aka Lencho) Will Return! (Sorry, this is a long review but I just can’t help it). Just returned from a wonderful week (Feb 19 to 26, 2020) at ABB&W resort. In preparation for our trip I’m sure I read every review and now realize why it was so difficulty to find a bad review. From start to finish everything (except room bathroom privacy...more on that later) was amazing. ABB&W could write a book about customer service, just stand looking puzzled anywhere on the resort and you will be approached and offered help by a staff member within seconds. Check in (c/w welcome drink) was fast and painless. Rooms (all with Ocean views) were clean and cleaning staff pleasant and hard working. Which of the 4 buildings would you choose! Here is my take: Building #1 (to the left / North - this where we stayed) sort of faces the ocean and snack bar/Rodizio Brazilian restaurant. It’s close to the dive shop & 24 Snack-bar with a small infinity pool in front. Building #2 (next to the south) is located right at the main pool. With the main buffet and entertainment area just beside this building is the nosiest with loud (but great) live band music playing from 8:00 to 10:00 every evening. If you want sleep or have young children don’t choose this building. It is also located directly beside the main checkin area, shops and restaurants. Buildings 3&4 and located to the south of the main buffet. They face the ocean directly. There is a small pool in front of each building and a small beach bar. These two buildings are the quietest. Building 4 is the farthest from the main pool and buffet however compared to other resorts (that are narrow and run perpendicular to the ocean) everything is pretty close. Note: All rooms (I said ALL) have a view of the ocean. A la Carte Restaurants: Try them all (Really!) as they are all good. I experienced all of them and can’t tell you which I liked best. Some standouts: K’ooben gourmet restaurant: the Filet Mignon (tenderloin) was “to die for”...cooked to perfection and melt in your mouth. One tip: dine early (before 7:00) or you might encounter a little bit of a line up. The main buffet is quite good. Never really busy: food quality and variety is pretty good. Desserts were a little blah but then again I’m not a huge dessert guy. The 24 hour snack bar is such a great option. You can pick and choose from the small buffet there (breakfast, lunch and dinner) or ask the team to prepare something for you- they will happily oblige. At lunch make yourself a plate of nachos, load it up with their excellent home made Chili, hot cheese, pick de Gallo and guacamole and don’t forget to top it with some hot salsa (be careful, it’s really hot). Ask Luiz to prepare a bowl of ice cream for you. Delicious! Snorkeling (this is what really made the trip worth it for me). Wrass, Four-eye and Reef Butterfly-fish, Bluetangs, Parrot-fish (Spot-light, Queen, Midnight and Rainbow), stingrays and countless Green Turtles and many more. One afternoon 6 18” Barjacks drifted with me for 5 minutes. The best snorkelling is right out in front of building #1. The ocean floor there is sandy but to the right (south - in front of buildings 3 & 4) the ocean floor is rocky. There are groups of coral only 30’ off of shore and a huge reef out near the first line of buoys.(there is a large area some 150’ out that is buoyed off - a protected area for Turtles. This part of the Bay (from the Hotel down to the left (North) to the beach town of Akumal is a National Park...and protected religiously. Bathroom Privacy: my wife is quite sure that a woman was not consulted during the hotel room design process. The bathroom is open to the rest of the room with only a glass partition separating the shower and another separating the W/C (toilet) from the bedroom space. Very little privacy if any. After 37 years of marriage it really was not deal breaker for us but maybe for some. The bed should be located on the same wall as the entry door: as it is currently located the bed (and occupants) are completely visible when the entry door is opened. Not very private at all as the neighbors entry door is completely opposite. Other than this the rooms were quite comfortable. Each room has a hot tub-spa located on the balcony (lanai). The Staff: I was so impressed with the staff that I simply must name names (sorry, I know I will miss a few). Tigre: you will meet this hard working gentle older man upon arrival. Don’t be surprised by his age; he will jump in, grab your bags and respectfully usher you to the front desk like no other. Tigrito: this son of Carlos is eager and learning under the watchful and helpful guise of Tigre. Carlos: Guess Services. Extremely personable and helpful. Beach Bartender Clemente and Beach Wait Staff Monica and Patricia. They worked tirelessly in the sun to serve drinks and friendly smiles. Next time you visit order my favourite (named after me) a Lorenzo Bomba” Hermes Patron R. (night server at the Snack Bar). Several nights when I couldn’t sleep Hermes served me drinks, made nachos for me and we talked about our families. What a great hard working guy. And there were so many other of the staff that recognized me around the resort and always greeted me with a smile and a Hola Lorenzo! Thank you to all...You know who you are. This was our first visit yet I met several other guests that have been coming back for years including the nice lady from Michigan I met the morning we left; they were just arriving for the 20’th visit. All the best to everyone at ABB&WR. Last of all and highest up the ladder (other than GM José Maria whom I did not meet) Guest Services Manager Emanuele Bisolli (aka Lele)...what a fine and personable man. I started communicating with him long before our visit; he checked in on me several times during the week just to see how things were going. One thing to note: so many of the staff were proud to say they have worked at ABB&W resort for many years: 14, 16, 20 and El Tigre at 40 years. In an area where there are so many resorts that provide so many employment opportunities this is really impressive. It really shows how great the management is and what a great place to work it is. PS. Pre-order a private shuttle from Canada Transfers instead of using the transfer provided by the airline. Yes it costs more but it is much faster as it doesn’t have to drop people at other resorts. We ordered an SUV c/w Cervesas...a much more pleasant experience. Note: this is not a party resort so if you are looking for a younger lively crowd this is not your resort. The only problem we had during our stay was that a member of our party unfortunately got sick the morning we left. Not sure but presume it was food related.

First off, we're not really all inclusive type travellers, but, we do like a bit of luxury at the end of one of our road trips. This fitted the bill rather well. You can't fault the staff and level of service you get here. Our room was lovely with everything you could want. We sat on the roof terrace a few times in our three days here but only bothered with the jacuzzi the once....but it was rather nice. The food was good, but avoid the smoked salmon at breakfast ( I probably wouldn't even use it in cooking) and we particularly liked the Mexican restaurant. Stick to the house wine as its perfectly ok (nothing exceptional) as they will bring you a wine list which is way overpriced for whats on offer. A particular mention should go for the beach/sushi bar. The sushi is very good and made to order by the lovely lady there, it very much bears comparison to the sushi we had in Japan and the guys serving the drinks are really cheerful and on the ball with the ice cold beers. We are not normally fans of hotel cabarets, but there were some really good musicians at work here. OK, theres a guy who churns out the standards every night (and he really knows what hes doing, its just not our scene) but then they have a guest act on each night and they were all VERY good and we enjoyed ourselves every night. The snorkelling is pretty stunning,it can get a little choppy which reduces visibility, but I still saw turtles every time as well as Ray, massive Grouper and so many highly coloured fish that I can't possibly name. The negatives for us then(apart from the smoked salmon) were the crowded beach (but thats to be expected at this kind of place), the organised fun at the swimming pool and the worst Tequila Sunrises we've ever had, but if your just looking for a place to relax for a week or so out of your hectic lives you could do an awful lot worse than this. Once again, I want to praise all the people who work here, that combination of friendliness and professionalism is a skill. Well done.
