The beach immediately in front of ABBWR is about 2/3 miles of sand. However, if you get beyond the rocky point to the south, you can walk another 600 yards further to the south on sandy Jade Bay. If you are adventurous, and don't mind walking rocky terrain, you can go much further up and down the coast. ABBWR is on the Akumal trail, i have gone all the way to Bahia Principe. Beyond that the terrain gets a little rough. A shame because Xcacel is also a beautiful beach.
