Here are the good things. We stayed here for 6 days and had a marvelous time!! The staff were all very courteous and Marcelo spoke enough English to clearly explain everything. It’s not a high end resort feel but instead, there are only 4 little duplex casitas each one containing 2 fairly roomy efficiency style rooms. The room was clean when we arrived, and surprisingly, did not have that “tropical mildew” smell. The air con worked great and the room was cleaned every day by a lovely, friendly lady. They even refilled the coffee every day (we bought our bag of coffee, not realizing they were providing it). They even did all the dishes in the morning. The pool area was quite lovely and my 10 yr old spent hours playing there quite contentedly. The surrounding gardens have little paths, fruit trees, walled in pond, and many native animals and birds were seen every day. There were many hammocks in various places around the property and by each casita and we all spent many peaceful, quiet hours, either sitting on our front porch, laying in the hammock or lazing by the pool. Very multi-cultural as far as guests. English, French, German, Italian and Polish were there in the 6 days we stayed. And the place is centrally located so within an hour of any direction there is SO much to do and see. Here are the “not quite as good things”. From location it is impossible to walk all the way to the ocean. It would even be a very hot sweaty walk to the highway to catch the Collectivo. But we rented a car in Playa Del Carmen from a wonderful (French, English, Spanish) lady named Elie. We drove to Tulum and Akumal and Playa Del Carmen many times and found the highways to be very easy to navigate. So you need a car! The beds in our room were very old and hard and uncomfortable. Even my 10 yr old complained about how hard the mattress was. I think next time I would go to the Mega in PDC to pick up my groceries and grab an “eggshell foam” for each bed before I get there. That being said....we would TOTALLY rent here again!! We LOVED it and would recommend it! Looking forward to coming back here.

Villa las Tortugas is a beautiful property tucked away in the jungle near Akumal. I rented a car so it wasn't a problem to be further away from the beach. There was a couple staying there on their honeymoon who walked to the beach and took colectivo buses everywhere without a problem. The villas are gorgeous, lots of flora y fauna, a really nice pool, and there is a security guard 24/7 at the entrance to the "neighborhood." We got our laundry done for half the price of the local place in Tulum! Each day we had the fridge stocked with juice, toast, jam, and cookies. The room had salt, sugar, and tea provided. We cooked lots of our meals there. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxing stay in the jungle near Akumal beach.

Fun place, good people work there, nice pool, comfortable and clean. Highly recommended. Wifi worked most of the time, rain seemed to kill it. No TV (which was nice) and it is in a secured location. Check it out, it's worth the small price to stay there-

I came to Villa Las Tortugas in an emergency situation. They accommodated me very late at night, without a reservation, and they even offered to pick me up from where I was stranded. Marcelo was the kind man who helped me out, he was very accommodating and understood the situation that I was in. After we arrived, he took me to the little Cabana. I got the one themed after the State of Chihuahua. It was clean, spacious, with a kitchenette, the bathroom had hot & cold water, the AC in the room worked just fine and the ceiling fan was quiet. The property has a nice small pool to cool off and relax if you want to stay in the property. I loved the privacy that the cabanas have and how conveniently located they are between Tulum and Playa del Carmen. Less than 2KM away there is the town of Akumal. If you head towards the beach side of Akumal you will find great restaurants. I was there for breakfast and loved it. Villa Las Tortugas, offers a working stove, a fridge and a coffee maker that if you buy some provision you can be there comfortably. I am deeply thankful to the staff they were all so helpful and specially Marcelo for accommodating me so late and impromptu. the price cannot be beat for what you get. What a nice little place in the middle of the jungle.

We were staying in villas tortugas for two nights and absolutely loved it! The hotel with the cabañas is very clean and sourrounded by a lot of palm trees and flowers. The cabaña itself is decorated with many nice details. For breakfast you are getting toast and marmelade etc. which is just awesome because the small kitchen is perfectly equiped with a toaster and also everything you need have to prepare lunch or dinner. Furthermore the hotel area has a nice and clean pool and a barbecue area with a grill. What made this place so special for us was the mix of the unique spot and the best service offered from the two hosts. They were supernice and helped us with everything. For example they took us to the supermercado with their car, when we were laying at the pool the brought us free snacks and were just helping whenever they could. Even when we were only staying for two nights, due to their hospitality we immediately felt at home. We can truly recommend this place to everyone who needs a break from the loud places like playa del carmen or tulum.
