I had a wonderful time at this resort! During Covid, they do a great job making you feel safe while allowing you to enjoy your vacation. All staff wore masks. Guests could wear them if they wanted or not. We chose to keep ours on during check-in or when we were around a lot of people. Only 3 of the restaurants were open but since this was our first time visiting, we didn't feel like we missed out on anything. The food was AMAZING. Like you will wish you could order some of the items when you get back home. Service was top notch every where. The swim up bar was closed but honestly we didn't miss it. Pool service was on point as well as beach service. This is a quiet resort which I prefer so if you are looking for a party scene, this is not the hotel for you. The spa was also great. Arrive early like they suggest and do the hydrotherapy circuit just to experience it. I really do not have one negative thing to say about this place and I am very PICKY. I already have my next trip on the books!

This is the marvelous place we had our week long spa vacay. It’s an adult only and all inclusive. They bring big chefs in to cook at the amazing restaurants. They have a great shopping and an amazing spa. When you stay in the resort you only have to pay 25% of spa services or excursions. (That’s if you want anything extra) The whole stay is like a spa, not to crowded or loud party. Clean beaches and super safe. I book direct with the hotel. They are sister resorts with Hard Rock and you can get a day pass to the Hard Rock and enjoy their resort and Golf Club. It’s about 50 min from the airport and you can book a private car to bring you to and from resort at a great rate. We had the best time and this is my 3rd time to go to this wonderful place. You get a private concierge for you personally that makes sure all your needs how ever big or small are met. The men and woman pool side treat you like a King and Queen. They keep your drinks full and help you get into you room when you forget your key not once but a couple of times. The spa is luxurious the hydro bath is a shocker (hot rocks and ice showers are DRAMATIC) but a must! You even can dress super fancy for dinner or go casual dress. The staff is amazing! I recommend this place 100/100!

If you like an "all inclusive" resort, this is one of the best. That being said, there are pros and cons: Pros: 1. This place was only at 30% occupancy, which made everything very convenient. 2. The value was amazing. I have paid twice as much for less of an all inclusive experience. 3. The level of service is extraordinary. Staff were over the top accommodating and attentive. 4. They had very strict sanitation guidelines for the staff. 5. Everyone gets a "host" who serves as a personal concierge. While our was quasi-responsive, our travel partners hit the jackpot. 6. The gym is great and well equipped. 7. Mi Carissa was the finest dining by far, the other two were above average. Reservations are a must. 8. Pool side dining had a great selection and quality. Cons: 1. As with all "all inclusives", the drinks were a little watered down, food portions were smallish and less than stellar. 2. It is isolated, so if you if you are looking for excursions, you will have to travel 45-60 min to get anywhere. It's over an hour to the airport. 3. They try to wrangle you into a time share like presentation for free gifts. 4. The swim up room pools don't lead to anything other than the other swim up pool rooms.

I recently split 6 days between Cancun and Riviera Maya. I visited Unico 2087 from Sept 16-19,2020 expecting top-notch service as the hotel is an award winner of the AAA five Diamond Awards and this was my (disappointing) experience at Unico: The Good: The hotel is a beautiful beach-front property About 1 hr away from Cancun Airport and it contains 3 different pools with pool service. Although, the pool bars are closed there are a few waiters running around to service the peeps who ventured out for a vacation. I will say the service at pool “La escondida” was superb. Most rooms have either a tub in their balcony or swim out rooms (these lack privacy but look cool specially for groups). The bar of this hotel provides great cocktails and they have a DJ at night from 9-11pm in the area located by the lobby of the hotel. There are 4 restaurants to pick from: Italian, Mexican, fusion(Unico’s restaurant), and Japanese. The Japanese is often completely reserved so you can try to get reservations but we were told to just show up and hope we could snag a place (we did at 9:30pm and it was totally worth it). The Bad: Sadly, We reserved a King-Size, Ocean Front room and received a view of palm trees. The day we arrived was Mexican Independence day so maybe they were working with even fewer staff but Due to COVID, staff has already been reduced and a lack of communication between the staff is a problem. This shows as their employees are not typically smiling or completing room service requests which is typical of Riviera Maya. We ordered drinks to our room through our concierge but did not receive what was expected. I ordered a total of 4 welcome drinks for my husband and I to share because their mini bar only offers beers and they only brought one drink for both of us. Concierge left without telling us so we had no one to complain to. I didn’t receive a response about the incorrect number but we decided it was late anyway so we would get our drinks from dinner. The following day we ordered 4 beers to be waiting at the room by the time we got back from dinner thinking this was an easier request. We arrived back at 11pm, after room service ended and our beers were not there. When we finally reached someone at the front desk, we were told they logged our request at 8:30pm but since we were not there they took the drinks (although we had told them we wouldn’t be there and to please leave there for when we returned, they even told us to make sure we didn't leave the do not disturb sign on). They also said that room service was over but After pressuring them for their mistake, they agreed to bring our beers. At this point the beers we asked for had run out but we accepted different ones since we just wanted to keep the buzz from the lovely dinner we just had but after an 1h had passed we called them again to follow up and, of course, the response was that there were other people ahead of us—(but wait I thought service stopped at 11pm). We heard other people complain as well during breakfast, but I’m guessing their shortcomings are due to having few staff. Someone said they came 2 years ago and it was amazing but their experience this time did not meet their expectations at all. I tried ordering a cab for an hour after I had requested but my new concierge took 40 mnts to respond to us so at this time we had already arranged our transportation ourselves thinking he wouldn’t respond. He responded when I said “cancel if you haven’t ordered.” Concierge apologized as he was busy with other guests but He only responded after I had told him to cancel since we had not heard back from him. The Ugly: The only small part of the hotel that isn’t super nice is a part of the beach. It almost looks like half of their beach access is clean, free of seaweed and rocks, but the other half has seaweed and rocks. When we asked where the towels for this section where, the person standing there seemed confused and told us he wasn’t sure (I speak Spanish so I know I was being understood). In Summary, this is a very Nice hotel with awesome restaurants and the only reason why my score is average is due to the lack of attention and service during our stay. Compared to Secrets The Vine in Cancun, it fell short and I had a better time in Cancun. When I told the representative about our stay and complained about the lack of a view in our ocean front (pic below) he didn’t say anything just looked at the picture but regardless said he hoped I would give them a second chance. Seriously, there are so many beautiful hotels in this area that thanks but next time I’m trying a new one. I would recommend you only try this place after covid regulations go back to normal.

The resort is absolutely beautiful. The interior design and landscaping are immaculate. The food and drinks are amazing. But above all, the staff is the best part about this place. From the moment we checked in, our host, Adriano took care of everything we needed. He texted us daily activities, he sent surprises up to our room since we were celebrating our honeymoon and my husband's birthday. He made all of our dinner reservations and handled any requests we had. He ran baths for us, and scheduled spa appointments too. He also always made sure to find us each day to check in and catch up with us. He absolutely made our vacation. Every time he walked away we looked at each other and said "Oh my gosh, he's the best." We were really sad to leave because that meant not seeing Adriano everyday. On top of that, all of the staff was amazing. Housekeeping, waitstaff, room service, etc. Everyone was extremely friendly and kind. The room was so beautiful too. The bathrobes are the BEST. We wish we would have bought some. And they let you choose a signature scent when you check in that they fill the diffuser with each day. If you can, check out the spa! We did an 80-minute couples massage, and it was divine. Make sure to arrive an hour early for the free hydrotherapy. It's worth the time! We absolutely loved all three pools and the beach. You can’t swim all along the beach, but there is one area where you can, and the water is crystal clear and the sand is so soft on the ocean floor. The resort also handled COVID really well. They disinfected our shoes and bags when we arrived, and the entire staff wore masks the whole time. They also had someone going around spraying disinfectant on the pool furniture every day. The food was five-stars. I've stayed at all-inclusive resorts before that have terrible food, but that was NOT the case with Unico. We were sad we could only eat at each restaurant twice. We wish we could have tried everything on the menu! Pro tips: Get the Fried Duck Tacos and Mayan Coffee at the Mexican Restaurant. Get the Mushroom-Crusted Beef Fillet at the Italian Restaurant. And get the Beef Teriyaki and Beef Fillet Yakitori at the Japanese Restaurant. The Hibachi is also amazing, but you'll definitely need a reservation for that. Or better yet, just ask your host to schedule all of our reservations at the beginning! We also loved the pool-side chicken tenders and onion rings. You really can't go wrong here!
