great place to stay, part of a larger complex, that requires travelling by golfcart buggies to enjoy all faucets. Siaan Kaan is tucked away on the opposite side of the highway of the beach, and thus is in the hot beautiful jungle and away from the crowds and requires travel by buggy to get to the beach and the other restaurants/ resorts in the complex. the buggies come very often. The food here is awesome, the entertainment at Siaan Kaan alone is great, but you are able to visit any of the Bahia Principe resorts in the complex you wish, and to get the full experience I suggest you do. The beach suffers from an extreme amount of seaweed as does every other location here so if that is not your thing you might think twice about riviera maya in general. Siaan Kaan is by far the quitest of the four resorts, and is easy to find a place by atleast one of the pools. beach and bar service is relatively good, and relatively better if you tip generously. Reccomend for quiet getaways not big on swimming in a clean ocean( nothing beats cuba in that regard), and make sure you bring bug spray and arent terrified of nature. As an extra note there is a place called Hacienda Donna Bella that all four resorts share near the highway that has your late night drinking, small time casino, and souvenir marketplace during the day as well as a pharmacy, bar, and other amenities. Of the four resorts I would rate Sian Kaan a strong second behind Akumal, both adults only, Then Tulum but has almost no beach to speak of right now, and then Coba…
Already missing our three weeks we spent at SK in January/22. On arrival our room was as selected, superior garden with tub in Villa 9. There were a couple of issues with the room but they were addressed by management immediately and maintenance rectified everything within an acceptable 3 days. These issues did not interfere with the comfort of our room. Our room was clean on arrival. Bar fully stocked and bathroom with towels and toiletries. The only downside was that they had not improved the dull lighting in the ground floor rooms or bathroom. The “jungle” canopy has grown over the years. An upgrade to modern, brighter lighting would be a vast improvement and welcomed I am sure by all guests. Water was hot in shower, vanity faucet, and in the bar sink area. Room service we used twice and the chef was accommodating to dietary issues. The food arrived within half and hour, fresh and tasty. SK in the past was renowned for the quality of its food in all of the restaurants. Yal Ku Buffet - still excellent for breakfast, lunch and supper. Kudos to our server Antonio and of course Daniel Gauchard. (although we were allowed 20 a la cartes during our stay we only booked 6, choosing to spend leisurely suppers at the buffet) Cenote Snack Bar – initially we could serve ourselves but due to increased C19 rules towards the end of our stay it was by plate order only. This did not seem to deter guests and we saw many people enjoying a meal or drinking. Alux – Excellent. By far the best duck I have ever eaten. Maiko – Quality of food good. Our final visit was marred when the maitre’d felt it was acceptable to present my husband with the wine bill when we were still eating our main course. He was sent away and told to return after we had eaten!! Thali – Good Indian cuisine. The spice flavours are there but the heat is missing, so if you prefer really hot food ask the chef during ordering, he will kick it up a notch. The fried bread (Bhatura) was excellent and we asked for a double serving each time we went! They do not have a tandoor so the naan bread is your typical supermarket type. Italian – Just your regular pasta/pizza restaurant. Nothing special here. Too noisy for our liking, but food was OK. Cleanliness of the resort, especially during C19. SK went above and beyond cleaning surfaces, tables, chairs. Early in the morning we would see a worker spraying all of the sunbeds around the pools. Quite honestly with the cleaning regime visible I felt safer at the SK than anywhere in my home town! The buffet restaurant had a routine of taking temperatures of guests on entry at certain times of the day, with signs to use hand sanitizer plus gloves before entry to the buffet. Of course this only maintains a safer environment if all guests follow the rules!! Pools – an activity section and a quiet end. The area was kept clean and sanitized. We observed the water in the pool being tested. As well as loungers, comfortable pool chairs would be a good addition for those with disabilities. I used a chair from the Cenote Bar most days. There are books and towels at the activity pool. Our server Itzey was very friendly & attentive. Entertainment Team – SK should be very proud of the team they have, particularly our “three amigos” Adrian, Gustavo & Maleni, not forgetting Victor. When passing by the “geriatric section” of the SK pool they would stop to chat, with no pressure to participate in activities. However, who could resist playing corn-hole with Adrian, certainly not me! In the lobby, when we were leaving, our “three amigos” performed and sang the classic Bahia performance as a farewell gesture. Shows- A good excellent variety, apart from the ABBA show. This was a disappointment. The first time I saw this show I thought that maybe the singers were having a problem or a bad evening, so I chose to watch them a second time. The performance was agonizingly the same. Bad singing and harmonizing. Thankfully we were sitting in the bar as far away as possible. Bar – Thank you Litsel for making sure our glasses were full. There is a good variety of spirits but make sure you ask for a specific brand otherwise you will be given out of the well. Reception Desk – A huge thankyou to Lindo (?name). He helped us many times with questions and personal issues. All of the team at front of house were excellent. Lastly, a thank you to Juan Basaldu and Jordana Pellicer for taking the time out of their busy days to chat to us. We tend to notice the small things – such as Juan being visible and fist bumping the serving staff in the buffet. As return guests we knew the high standards of the SK in years past, and were not expecting it to be the same due to C19 on this visit. They exceeded our expectations. Would we return? Yes, in a heart beat.…
Another visit to SK (the only exception we make to our rule of never returning to the same place more than once). Check in and restaurant selection via the app is very easy and we completed ours 5 days before arrival without issue. This did make check in a breeze. Just as well, took us over 3 hours to exit Cancun airport, so we weren't in the best frame of mind! You can book your restaurants for the whole of your stay. Recommend you do this, heard several moaning they hadn't and were now struggling to get in the restaurant of choice (they seemed to think this was the hotel's fault rather than their own, but everyone is told the same and it's very easy). As soon as the taxi pulls up the service springs into action, your luggage is sorted for you, a welcome drink, cool towel is in your hand within minutes. The staff then whisk you and your luggage around to your room. Rooms are large, clean, comfortable and well maintained. The minibar was restocked daily. That said it's such a wonderful place, we were only in our room to sleep, shower and change for dinner. AC worked well. A pool day was around the 'entertainment' pool, not that we bother joining in, but there's always something going on. The Entertainment staff are wonderful people, always checking things are ok, not intrusive at all, genuinely friendly people. Drinks service around the pool is very good. Several other quieter pools, depends on your taste. The SK beach has moved since we were last there, very rocky, loads of weed. That said 50 yds to the left is the Akumal beach which is lovely. Nice to go for a dip there and walk back to the kid free zone afterwards! Again, drinks service was very good. Food - we've never had a bad meal in the times we have stayed there. It all comes down to preferences. We did book 'Don Pablo' this time, not sure why we have never happened on that before, the food and service were fantastic. Service in the Steak House was iffy the night we went, but food good when they got into gear. Do allow plenty of time for your trolley journey if you are off to one of the other resorts to eat. Large family turned away from one restaurant when they arrived late, which they claimed was down to the trolley bus not being able to accommodate such a large group, forcing them to wait. Evening drinks and entertainment in the bar were very good. We do like the trolley buses, very easy to navigate your way around the resorts. In 2 weeks, I would say we rarely waited more than 10 minutes for a trolley. We really love the service, people, drink and food here. Everything is good, but the people are all exceptional and make the stay very memorable and special. SK is very peaceful. One thing of note, with it being a bit of a journey from the airport you don't get the 'weekends' flying in, getting leathered and being loud which is common in other Caribbean resorts. There's a very active Facebook Group for this hotel, which is well worth joining.…
Bahia Principe Sian Kaan ridiculous place, outdated, under stuff, no sense of urgency when it comes the need of consumers or its guest. They were suppose to have the rooms ready we booked weeks in advanced,we pay for junior superior rooms 3 persons per room-- we checked in around 11:50 pm there was only one bed, a sofa bed in each room so nasty and dirty!! without pillows no sheets nor blankets and no bottles of water-we call them they said in a few minutes, waited call again fall sleep it took them 3 1/2 hours to bring the blankets they were knocking at our door around 3:20 but no water, one room have beetles and some type of small bees one AC box was not working, they came a make our bed but were not putting enough drinking water, soap or toilet paper- we ask after 3 day for toilet paper and they got the guts to ask how many people ere there in my room silly right? the room with the bugs-they did give give us another one almost to the end of our staying after we complain and complain we ask to speak to a general manager to report the matter there was never one on duty..It is bad on their part..Now what is frustrating for me is that 2 years ago i got drag into a Privilege Club member Ship by a whole group of professional Liars that tell you how well Bahia Principe will treat you.During this stay on July 2022 for me was very disappointed had to wait 20 to 30 minutes for a privilege car and had to share it sometimes with people that din not belong to the club, the drivers were rude.i definitely will no longer stay at Sian kaan nor i recommend it to others specially if you are paying top dollars...…
Second day in to visit transport cart crashed and they just left it , also woke up at 4.30 by workmen and lorry's also 3 days without a/c , then moved but overall most of staff was nice but to sack driver and refuse to give accident report , not good enough
This is our 4th time visiting this resort. It has become one of the places we visit at least every other year. This is a very nice resort with lots to do in the sister resorts as well- with lots of pools, bars, restaurants and entertainment. Please take into consideration that this is a wonderful solid resort, and is not for those looking for the newest, trendiest , super luxury resort. Some people we spoke with seemed to have that expectation, and appeared to be somewhat disappointed, therefore, I want to set a realistic expectation. What makes this resort one of our “go-to’s” is the people. Some of the employees remembered my husband and I, and it was just fantastic to see their smiling faces again. We want to give a very special shout outs to the following people who were so attentive, helpful and overall wonderful during our stay: At the Sian Ka’an lobby bar: Johvanny, Carlos, Randi- they joked around with my husband and I, they were always smiling and happy to her us whatever we wanted to drink. Main buffet- Anabel decorated the breakfast table with flowers, michas gracias Anabel. Faustino- smiling, attentive and always had a good attitude Alina- wonderful personality, always smiling and was eager to help in any way. She was so kind and genuine. And Carmen- the level of service her and her subordinates provided was just excellent!!! Roque at both Maiko and Alux- this guy deserves a raise!! He walked us thru the menus with such patience and made some amazing recommendations. The food was excellent but his service made it 100% even more enjoyable! Roque- mil gracias por tus atenciones! Eres el mejor! Nemesio at akumal pool bar and Misael at the akumal beach bar - super job thank you! Eric and pedro at the lobby taking care of the luggage. Eric would talk to us every day. Always asked if we were enjoying our stay, making small talk, and always smiling. Melissa from animation- just a wonderful and very energetic young lady. She was so sweet. Thank you everyone for making our 4th stay as memorable as the others.…
We were able to relax and enjoy every one of the things we look for in our holidays: outstanding food, friendly service, clean place, beach, pool. It’s a quiet place, no rowdy music. Shows end at 10PM. Shows are varied and descent. No soliciting with extra offers which we appreciated so much. If you wanted to check out something else, there were always friendly people to help you with ideas and offers as you wish. Take into account that it’s further away from the beach. But this didn’t bother us since we loved walking the 30 minutes in the morning and come back to the hotel with the train which runs every 15 minutes. If you decide to go to Sian Ka’an make sure you have a snack at the Cenotes Snack Bar and ask for Constantino! He will treat you as royal guests!
I just got back from my stay and I cannot wait to return. I went to BP-Sian Kaan with my best friend for 4 nights, but ended up extending for a total of 7 nights! The resort and staff were fantastic. I elected to stay in a penthouse - jacuzzi suite, which I loved. My room was immaculate and housekeeping were both prompt and thorough. The food at Sian Kaan is easily the best of all the Bahia Principe properties (which you have access to as an SK guest). My fav was the buffet which offered a delicious and changing selection. The staff there is very attentive; Igleyda and Aremi were the kindest and made every meal an absolute pleasure. There are many 4 and 5 star resorts in the Yucatan, but the people at Sian Ka'an made this resort stand out. If you stay at Bahia Principe property, go with Sian Ka'an! You will enjoy your stay and surely return!…
This was my second time here and just got back from this amazing resort a few days ago. Everything exceeded my expectations once again. I’ve also been to Coba twice, and Tulum. They are all great, but the service, rooms, grounds, and amenities at Sian Ka’an are the best! Thank you so much to the staff for making this resort vacation exactly what I needed and hoped for— it was truly a dream. I can’t wait for my next visit!
Having the worst experience. Booked based on reviews. Booked through their website on promise of early checking, pick my room, meals, transfer and excursions 5 days in advance. Website would only allow me to check in. App does not recognize my reservation. I've emailed customer service 5x. 1st time reservation wasn't showing on website. They fixed that, I could check in, but will not allow me to book restaurants as promised, my transfer as promised. I've called the #800 and the hotel directly both times I get cut off with getting to a live person. Person on website said they are having issues with phones? Did they pay their bills? Will I even have somewhere to stay when I get there? They say free cancelation. Is this how they get out of canceling your reservation (not that I even tried to do that). I just want one perk i.was promised in advance by booking through them. I'm soooooo stressed. My husband is gonna freak out. I haven't told him.…
