We went on our honeymoon to the Four Seasons (FS) Punta Mita. This trip was one for the books and will be very difficult to top. The hotel property was breathtaking, and when combined with the outstanding service and hospitality of the FS you are bound to have a great experience. Covid info: On a scale of precautions taken for covid; 1 being no care in the world, 10 being never leave your house & take every precaution I fall around an 8. That being said I was very comfortable and felt the hotel was very clean. Every employee even gardeners wore masks 24/7. Staff cleaned everything, tables, pens, anything and everything before we touched them. The biggest peace of mind was everything at the hotel is open air with no windows, except for the rooms. The only thing that was slightly unsettling was not all the guests cared as much about wearing masks, although the hotel emphasized wearing them. Its a big enough property where you can spread out and feel safe though. Hotel: Like previously mentioned everything was open air except the rooms, but being on the ocean I never felt hot indoors. The property was large but walkable. There are golf carts that can pick you up and take you anywhere. The whole property was immaculate and it was obvious how much attention to detail was put into the property. We saw no signs of wear and tear, the artwork and landscaping was beautiful, even the walking paths had nice river stone patterns in them. We stayed for a week and felt like we were not able to take advantage of everything. There are several pools/hot tubs, two beach areas, several restaurants, lots of activities (see below), golf/tennis courts, and a beach town within walking distance. The service was outstanding, from the minute we were picked up at the airport. Anything we needed or wanted we got within 10 minutes of requesting. There is plenty of complimentary bottled water as well. Activities: We were very pleased with all the available activities. There were several complimentary activities including: snorkeling, kayaking, fishing equipment, bike riding, chocolate tasting, and morning walks/hikes. There were also lots of paid activities and excursions such as: tequila blending, fishing, whale watching (when in season), paddle boarding, snorkeling, and trips to an island off the coast. Our favorite activities were the panoramic hike which gave a beautiful view of the entire peninsula, and the tequila blending class which we learned about tequila and got to blend and take home our own bottle. Another favorite was the ice cream cart which came to the main pool everyday at 3pm, this was complimentary. There was a churo cart which made fresh churos in the evening, a must try. There was also a cigar stand in the evenings. One day by the pool, people from the spa came and we got a foot massage. I am sure there are many more things to indulge on and enjoy but these are some of the things we noticed or took advantage of. Food: Overall the food was great, and the service incredible. There are several restaurants to choose from, and you can order food at all the pools/beaches. Breakfast consisted of your typical spread with a few Mexican dishes, no buffet likely due to covid. Lunch consisted of sandwiches, tacos/quesadillas, and other small plates or salads. Dinner was the main attraction with the best food and most options in my opinion. There were a lot of great and fresh seafood dishes. We tried to eat as much Mexican and seafood as we could since we were in Mexico and on the coast. The restaurants were open air, but if you do not feel comfortable with that, it was pretty easy to order room service or eat by the pool away from others. Room: We were upgraded to an ocean view room. This was a great business move, it was so beautiful it will be hard to pass up upgrading from now on. Would highly recommend getting ocean view if the rate is not much different. The room was immaculate and what you would expect from the FS. There was plenty of lighting options, local artwork, and a table with chairs as well as a couch. There was a second couch and table on the outdoor balcony, overlooking the ocean. The room had a glass sliding door so we could see everything, and could open and sit outside or get fresh air. The bathroom was great and had a walk in shower and tub. The toiletries fit the resort and smelled coastal. There was a nice espresso machine and stocked bar in the room. There were the standard hotel amenities as well as bug spray, umbrellas, and a nice pool bag to use during the stay. Because of all this, its very easy to hand out a well deserved 5 star rating. No reservations or hesitations, you are bound to love a stay at the FS Punta Mita.…
We have visited many times over the last 15 years and every time just fall in love with it all over again. We were worried that Covid might affect the experience, but it was as great as ever. The staff is beyond exceptional and go above and beyond. The food is top notch and the accommodations and scenery are perfection. Simply can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. It is definitely our family’s happy place!
This is our next favorite Four Seasons property after our first favorite Bora Bora! Really, this is the best so far because nothing can compare to Bora Bora. The property is definitely in our top 10 around the world. Punta Mita is a very special place. The gated community is fantastic with it’s reciprocity between beach clubs, golf courses and 10+ mile walking path. Golf cart rentals make the experienced all that more worthwhile. First and foremost, the best thing about Four Seasons is the app and the chat messenger. You can get anything done. It has differentiated our experience enough where we now have more loyalty with Four Seasons than our previous Marriott luxury brands. To put things in perspective, I also have no problem crashing at a Fairfield Inn for a quick weekend hop to a concert or sporting event. We booked a plunge pool garden view 1 bedroom 2 bathroom and were pleasantly surprised when Andre provided a complimentary upgrade to an ocean view given the building we originally requested by the lazy river was under construction. Our room was 704. It’s the building farthest east before the villas and can be a bit of a walk for those who have mobility issues. There were endless “little, thoughtful touches”. We arrived to a complimentary bottle of champagne and some chocolate-covered strawberries to celebrate our 10-year anniversary and return trip. Our 6 & 8 year olds were greeted by foam letters of their name and kids craft packages. We received a similar champagne package the last night of our stay. All of this was their doing and not requested which made it extra special. I had visited 4 months earlier to spend time with friends and check the place out given COVID. In the summer, resorts could book at 30% occupancy. I have heard 50% today is the new limit. The resort has many safe practices and guests are respectful. No worries on the COVID front. Our room was perfect. Rooms all have been recently renovated along with many main areas on property. Bed is very comfortable. Living and master complete separation. Our 6 & 8 year olds slept on the pull out sofa. They brought a separate bed at no request so each kid could have their own bed. Plunge pool temperature was warm yet refreshing. There is a Bose portable speaker to bring poolside at your plunge pool. I suppose you could bring it to the main pool. Both bathrooms were in excellent shape with walk-in showers and rainfall shower heads. The master bath has a spray handle too. Toilet flusher would stick in master but that was our fault for not calling it in. Could have been an easy fix. Mini-bar was stocked. We had to call for ants to get sprayed first day, but I’m reasonable given we are in the outdoors. The property is well kept. The lazy river is a must for younger kids or older folks wanting to experience the traditional “float”. There were 6 other people there when we went. The main pool is balanced appropriately with chairs and staff. The pool water filtration is clean and in excellent working order. The temperature is more warm than cold meaning you’re not reminded of a cooler temperature. The adult pool was accepting all ages when the beaches were closed earlier in the year, but now it’s 16 or older which is great. It’s a place to visit once or twice. The restaurants are great. The value is fair and not overpriced. $15–$20 entrees. Dinner is as high as $40. Kids eat for $6 at breakfast and lunch. Dos Catrinas is the main stay for all three meals and closest to the pool. I’d recommend the mahi-mahi tacos grilled or the catch of the day grilled sandwich or entree. When you order guacamole and chips also ask for pico de gallo and smoky red salsa. The best thing about any of these restaurants is they will make just about anything for you. The Asian intercontinental restaurant (Aramana sp?) had a decent sushi selection. Our best meals were at Bahia which is their dinner restaurant. Get the grilled whole fish. They bring fixings with it to make your own tacos. It was excellent. Best time to go at this time of year is 6:15 PM to catch the last 30-45 minutes of sun. Get a golf cart for a couple days and visit the surrounding properties. $70 for 4 seater and $80 for 6 seater. Sufi Beach Club and then the Surf Club will take you for lunch or dinner. These clubs service residences within the gated community, but you can visit for meals. We did the turtle release which was $50 per person and lasted less than an hour. They literally give you 5-6 turtles in a box that were born that day to release into the ocean. You get a good education for the first 20 minutes. I think he said the Punta Mita area has released 985,000 turtles either this year or in the last 10 years. If you have young kids, there is no question to do this. My wife and I enjoyed it too. The Kids Club was closed due to COVID, but opened the last couple days of our stay (12/17 or so). You need to make reservations in advance. There is also a game room below Dos Catrinas that has a gazillion game consoles, air hockey, arcade games, etc. We would let our kids go there for an hour or so by themselves. There is an employee there that is very engaged and watches over the place. My 8 year old loved the old school arcade and found BurgerTime within the games. Anyone who remembers BurgerTime and loved it as a kid should go to this resort for that reason alone!!! …
This is truly a vacation of a lifetime. The resort is perfect from food, staff, beach, pool and the Villa we stayed in was incredible. I cannot think of a more perfect place to vacation with your family.
We made our second visit to FS Punta Mita in October after having an incredible trip last year. This was our first time traveling since COVID hit and we were a bit worried about how comfortable we would feel, particularly going to a different country. However, once we arrived we felt completely safe with the precautions that had been put in place. I don’t think I ever saw a single staff member without a mask on. The resort was at reduced capacity (I believe 30%) but even during our visit last year I never found it to be crowded. The most memorable part of our trip last year was the amazing staff and quality of service, and this year was certainly a repeat of that. While I am sure that part of this can be attributed to great training of staff, I’m also convinced that they are all genuine, caring people. No request was too big or too small and everyone we interacted with went out of their way to give us the best possible experience. Because of the pandemic, I was a bit worried that there would be limited staffing that would impact the experience. However, I never found this to be an issue. It was also great to hear from one of our waiters that the resort has made effort to continue to support those workers that have not been able to return by providing income for several months and supplying food for their families. The food & drinks were great and I found the prices to be very reasonable compared to other high end Mexican resorts. We ate several dinners at Dos Catrinas which never left us disappointed. Breakfast was included in our package and was a huge plus. Because of COVID they weren’t able to have the amazing breakfast buffet they had last year (sad!) but the a la carte options left us more than satisfied. Do not miss out on the Baja shrimp tacos on the beach. We did venture into town to eat at Tuna Blanca and Punta Mercedes, both of which we enjoyed as well. We enjoyed ourselves so much we couldn’t bear leaving this special place after just four days, so we decided to extend our stay an extra night. Already looking forward to our return visit next year!…
