Went to this place for a business trip, as the top reps from our company were treated to a getaway. Absolutely outstanding service, courtesy and beautiful beaches. No doubt this was paradise! I had never been to Puerto Vallarta but I am going to go back!

WOWZA! I’ll try to make this brief. After an eight year respite from Mexico, we decided to try again. I had my eyes on this property for years; reading the exemplary reviews in major travel publications. Plus, we are loyal to the Four Seasons brand for it’s consistency. We have been privileged enough to stay in many five star hotels all over the world; Ritz-Carlton, Four Season, St. Regis, Langham, Wynn, Peninsula and more. In my opinion this resort ranks in my top five of all vacation destinations. Truly world-class. Why? The authenticity of the people. They really do care about the guest experience and are beyond polite. Kudos to the training they have. No request is too big. Service is not a job, it's a way of life. I simply have never experienced this level before. The culture is high and is quite obvious. The topography. Stunning beyond explanation. The rugged mountainside, the crashing waves, the infinity pool, the adult pool, the beach. All exceeded our expectations. It was expansive but if you wanted they would take to you by golf cart anywhere on the property. We kept saying everyday “it keeps getting better”. Our room was oceanfront. We spent much time on our patio overlooking the ocean and enjoyed watching the tide rise and lower over the day until that gorgeous sunset - right in front of our eyes. The food. We’ve eaten at Michelin restaurants all over and the quality and presentation were nothing less than amazing. Four restaurants, all different, great variety. We never had a less than stellar dish, from sushi on the beach, to classic Mexican dishes for breakfast, to fresh fish prepared in ways I never dreamed on the oceanfront, to exceptional desserts (oh the souffle trio paired with three different ice creams at Aramara - OMG!) What this property is not is a party hotel; it is refined, sophisticated, classy, quiet, exclusive and chill. This property is enclosed in a gated community in Punta de Mita. You access it through a private entrance. The short drive in to the property has meticulous landscaping with private homes (big ones) that are set back and discreet. Then another gate to the Four Seasons. For those worried about COVID. The staff all wore masks 100% of the time. There was plenty of sanitizer, signage, cleanliness and social distancing was very common. Actually the hotel was at a very low occupancy rate. We felt very safe on all levels. For those wondering about the new federal mandate to have a negative COVID test before returning to the USA - it couldn’t be easier. We made an appointment with the concierge for our test a day before our flight and the doctor showed up at our room and had our test results in 15 minute. Super easy. To Annie Monnier the Resort Manager: your kindness and leadership are all part of the culture on your property. You lead well and you should be proud. Everyone of the staff we came in contact with were beyond gracious. Thank you for the Casa Madero - Chardonnay, we really enjoyed it and have changed our perspective on Mexican wine. If you are even thinking about going to this property I urge you to book it now. It seriously will be unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. We will definitely be back - soon.

Four Seasons Punta Mita serves up a stunning first impression. Once we passed through the gated entrance to the Punta Mita enclave and an exquisite palm-tree forest, it was a short drive to the Four Seasons front door. There, in the open-air lobby that offers a jaw-dropping beach and ocean view, we were treated to a welcome hibiscus margarita. After a long dry spell from “let’s-spoil-ourselves” travel, it was a magical moment. Though the property is quite large, with some visitors relying on golf carts to get anywhere, we were glad to have an oceanfront room, beautifully appointed, within walking distance of the heart of the place. When we visited in August, everything was green and lush. At night, the chirping birds, croaking frogs and whatnot put on a glorious concert; I also loved the thunder rumbles in the distance and the lightning shows on the ocean… most nights, it would disappear as quickly as it arrived. I liked how in the restaurants and near the rooms, there were baskets of umbrellas in case of a downpour... a very thoughtful and on-brand touch. I came to some other conclusions during our week-long stay, the vast majority of them good: Especially since some US high-end resorts are having trouble hiring back staff, I was thankful that we chose Punta Mita. It was uncrowded (especially because the Four Seasons kept the capacity low due to local Covid restrictions, though everything at the resort was up and running), we didn’t have long waits for anything, and everyone was friendly and attentive. Unlike other Four Seasons we’ve been to where the infinity pool is reserved for adults, the (massive) main pool here, with beach/ocean views, is what delivers the infinity illusion. I liked how in its many spaces, including some covered areas, there were loungers… not just on the deck immediately surrounding the pool. We also spent some time on the lazy river, which is a wonderful feature. The adult pool -- it’s actually three separate pools -- is in an area of the property that maybe doesn’t deliver the same visual punch that it would if it overlooked the ocean, but it was still quite lovely with lots of space. We thought the food was good! But here’s the thing: though the cuisine is different enough at the three venues, the atmosphere is not… so after day 5, things started to feel a little one-note. That’s why, for those who are staying there for a bit, we highly recommend going off property, to the stylish Carolina Restaurant at the St. Regis, for a completely different -- and elevated -- experience. No one loves to get Covid tested while on vacation, but the setup here was painless. The doctor gave us our (negative) results while we were still sitting there, which definitely put us at ease for the remainder of our stay. It takes a lot of hard (and noisy) work to keep the property looking beautiful, and it’s likely you’ll hear the sounds of weedwackers more than once each day. Speaking of noise, there was construction going on in the building next to ours, resulting in nearly constant drilling, hammering, etc. during the day. It wasn’t so noticeable while we were in our room, but it did reduce the amount of time we spent on the lanai. Had we been even one room closer to it, I’m sure we would have asked to move. All in all, though, we had a great vacation... we've barely been back and as if the photos we posted on Insta weren't persuasive enough, I've already recommended it to friends.

It’s a beautiful property. They did a beautiful job landscaping the property and making each of the rooms have a view - whether it’s of the beautiful grounds or the ocean. This is a rather expansive property. You can always call the front desk for a ride in a golf cart. You can also rent a car for 80 dollars a day. One issue a traveler may have is the 14 day cancelation policy. Normally I wouldn’t find this an issue but with Covid and the Delta variant running around, the property is very strict about the 14 day cancellation policy. I strongly suggest travel insurance. Covid restrictions are taken seriously here. Wear a mask indoors, temperature taken at every restaurant, and we were told all staff have received the vaccine. Hotel makes it easy to get your Covid test before you travel home if your country/state/company requires it. We were told that they kept the hotel at 40% capacity (I also don’t think August is high travel season for this area but I could be wrong). This gave the resort a very relaxed atmosphere. There was no jockeying of seats by the pool or beach and I don’t think there were issues getting reservations for meals (to be fair, I’ve never had an issue with anyone hogging a chair all day at a 4S property - unlike other hotels where I’ve seen people drop stuff off at a chair and disappear for more than half a day, 4S tends to have restrictions on how long you can leave stuff unattended). By far the best value is a cabana rental - 150 (for two) at the time of this posting for two cocktails per person, one entree from the menu per person and a hat (read below for issues we had). I think the cabana pays for itself, especially since they provide better shade than the standard umbrellas. If you burn easily or think you want to break up your weak from being over exposed to the sun but don’t want to spend it in town or in your room, I suggest getting a rental. Throughout the week there were little amenities. One day was margaritas, chips, and salsa, another day was a delicious Greek yogurt, a third day was a cheese plate, and a fourth day had a basket of Mexican candies. That’s always a nice addition to your stay! Our room overlooked the beach. You walk out your back patio and you’re right in the sand. A nice touch is a faucet to rinse off your sandy feet before coming back into the room. It was a wonderful feeling after a long day of travel that you could check in, change and then jump in the ocean. Room is comfortable and housekeeping is excellent. They do spend quite a bit of time in your room setting things straight which gives me greater comfort in that my room is clean rather than looks clean. Love the concierge service. Nelly was wonderful - chock full of information and so friendly and full of tips, willing to meet your expectations on your stay. Always so bubbly and fun to talk to. Meals were quite good. However, I do highly recommend going to the St Regis for a meal at Carolinas. Some issues: The sink in our room had a major leak. It took a few visits from engineering to get it sorted out. On the plus side, response is quick. The pizza is not good. I think that’s the only real food complaint I had. There was construction going on in a villa next to our room every day (right by one of the beaches) You block it out after a while but it is annoying. Avoid 1400-1404. Room is fairly noise proof but you will hear it on the beach. Cabana policies were confusing. Minor issues mostly - in our initial contact with the hotel, we were told that we would get welcome mimosas. We got them at the beach but the pool attendants told us it was a premium drink but we would get two cocktails each (fine by me, I don’t care for mimosas). We asked for our complimentary sombreros/hats but one attendant at the pool didn’t think we got them as part of a package but another attendant bought them over later. We didn’t get them at the beach cabana until the very end of the stay. Not a huge issue but it just seemed a bit off.
