We just had a great stay at the W Punta Mita. The staff were incredibly friendly, customer service was off the charts, and the on site restaurants were honestly delicious. They provided clean drinking water bottles wherever you were at the property, so no need to go out and buy water bottles. The gym had modern, nice equipment and the bedding was quite comfortable. Honestly don't have anything negative to say about the place. We felt safe and well taken care of the entire trip. Thanks for the wonderful trip!
There is something so special and enchanting about this hotel - you feel it immediately when you step into the lobby for the first time to check in. A beautiful property that’s immaculately maintained, with thoughtful details scattered throughout. My girlfriend and I spent 4 1/2 nights at the W and it was one of our best stays ever. We strictly stay at Marriott hotels due to a family discount, so I’ve stayed at many Marriott/affiliated properties and this is one of the best ones yet. The staff here is so kind and go well above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of. The staff at the pool are friendly and attentive (big shout out to Jesus and Alex). The staff really went out of their way to make my girlfriends birthday feel special! The W really encapsulates the difference between what a 5 star hotel is versus others. You won’t go wrong booking here. Just note that the hotel is about an hour north of Puerto Vallarta on what seems like a private property, there are no real stores/grocery stores/restaurants near by and the surrounding town (15 mins either East or west) is quite rural so dining will be done on premises. Prices are not necessarily cheap, on par with pricing in the US. $15-$25 USD per entree. Be sure to take advantage of all the events taking place during the week - there’s everything from complimentary cocktail making classes, to spin classes on the beach, themed dinner nights and more. I wish I paid more attention to the programming! A piece of feedback to the hotel and a heads up for future travelers: It is very difficult to stay fully hydrated. They do a good job of giving out free 330ml bottles of water anytime you ask, and the rooms are stocked with them as well and replenished after housekeeping - however it is not nearly enough, especially after being in the sun and drinking all day. It also defeats the purpose of their commitment to being green as I had a graveyard of multiple tiny water bottles daily. Please think about investing in filtered water dispensers so guests can refill their own water bottles and save on using and recycling so much plastic. Otherwise an amazing stay - a big thank you to Hector, Ariely (sp), Paola, all the golf cart drivers, the pool staff, and the rest of the W staff! Can’t wait for my next stay…
Absolutely loved our stay. Brenda, Veronica and Jorge made our trip even more enjoyable. They represented The Marriott Brand standards very well. I have sent out many details to friends for them to visit soon. I cannot wait to come back. Extremely gorgeous property! From Yoga, breakfast, massages, everything was amazing!
From check in to check out all 6 days of our stay were punctuated from 9am to 6pm with jackhammers, power tools, regular hammering and lots of guys in orange and blue vests. There was NO advance notice that major construction would be occurring during our stay. Could even hear the construction noises over the thumping techno music playing poolside and beachside during the day. The construction noise and techno music were not conducive to relaxing by the pool or at the beach. We checked in at 2pm and were told our room was not ready but our bags would be brought to us so we could change into more comfortable clothes, our bags were never brought to us, and we seemed to have been forgotten by the staff (there was a lot of being forgotten by staff) we had to reintroduce ourselves to the front desk staff to see if our room was ready for us, over an hour later. The level of service can best be described as disjointed, for the first two days we could not find a beach towel even after asking staff for towels. One night at dinner we waited over an hour for the wrong entrees to arrive while sitting with empty water and cocktail glasses. Even after being acknowledged by the hostess, she never returned to our table. Another night had great service at the Spice Market Restaurant, service at the beach and pool areas were often hit and miss, staff are very friendly and personable but it should not take 30-45 minutes to have drinks delivered poolside. Some hotel activities were advertised but never really seemed to take place. Rooms were nicely appointed, we stayed in a lake view room, cozy, comfortable, room service was very responsive and food was tasty. Don't expect to get an UBER to pick you up at the hotel to take you away from the construction noise, the W offers taxis/cars/SUVs that charge about 4X more for the same trip. UBER's will drop off at the W though. We were very disappointed in the lack of transparency from the W and the unwillingness to address the situation. When speaking with the front desk staff about the construction we were told that this was just quiet finishing work by the contractors. I could barely hear him over the whine of the tile saw. This was not the high-end relaxing anniversary resort vacation we expected or paid for.…
If you travel and have a flawless 6 days and nights, its rare congrats! But the W took those imperfections to a great customer service experience! Luxury service with a luxury brand well done! It was our first stay with the W brand, and we will chose it again. We highly recommend the stay, we had multiple room experiences due to membership upgrades, and rooms of friends. And you honestly can't go wrong, each seems unique and relaxing as the next one! Numerous shout outs for great service: Spice Market - Diego was great; Venazu - Julio and ALLLBBEERRTTOOO were rocks tars; Rueben at the front desk - above and beyond is the definition of my service experience earlier; Jesus - poolside brought the energy and love each day! Some reviews complain of the construction from their expansions. Small issue in the imperfections of travel. The view, staff, and location make up for all of it. …
My wife and I just returned from 4 nights at the W Punta de Mita. Overall this was a great property with fantastic staff and amazing food. Booking: We booked a jungle view room for 4 nights. I used a 85k free night certificate for one of the nights, points for 2 of the nights (I think 112k for two nights) and paid cash for the fourth night. I used suite night awards ( I am Marriott Bonvoy Titanium elite) and was able tp upgrade to the Haven suite for nights 2,3,4 and our first night got upgraded to a lake view room. Marriott doesn't allow making a single booking using points, cash and a free night cert so I had to do the whole thing in 2 separate bookings. We used an outside company for airport pickup and paid $30 extra to stop at a very nice grocery where we picked up some snacks and tequila for our room. Rooms: We were met on arrival and driven by golf cart to our lake view room for night 1. The lake view room was small but very nice, clean and we would have been fine in this room the entire stay but were excited for the ocean front haven suite. The haven suite was outstanding with private pool, garden area, large sitting area, dual vanity sinks, shower room with large bath overlooking the pool area. Property: the entire property is beautiful and well cared for. It's very lush with lots of foliage. Everything is walkable but you can have a golf cart pick you up and take you anywhere you need to be. Dining: Our breakfasts were included as we are titanium elite. The breakfast was good with nice selection however I think I expected more from a large resort such as this one. We had eaten at other high end Bonvoy properties such as the W Bali and St. Regis Maldives and the free buffet breakfasts at those properties was outstanding. My expectations are definitely pretty high given where else we have stayed but the food was good and fresh with good service. For lunch we usually ate by the pool at WET DECK or Chevycheria. The food was all very good (especially the tacos and ceviche's). For dinner we did Dinner by The Sea at WET TOO, Spice Market, and Surf and Turf at CHevycheria. Those three dinner were all amazing and highly recommended. We ate off property one night at La Tradicional. They will come pick you up and hotel and bring you back after dinner The food was ok but I would have prob preferred staying at the hotel in retrospect. Activities: This is where we ran into some issues. We had booked the ceviche class but when we showed up they had nothing prepared and were expecting us several hours later at 5pm (I had 3 pm on my conf email). They were very apologetic and rescheduled us and made it complimentary (we ended up cancelling and not doing the class). We also had yoga confirmed nd when we showed up, we were told there was no yoga that day and it had been cancelled however we were not notified of this. Once again they were very apologetic and as an apology for the two mistakes they had made, our last dinner at Chevycheria was complimentary with free bottle of wine. Josue (concierge) was fantastic and very apologetic about these issues. Staff: all the staff are outstanding and seem happy to be there. there were many amazing staff we met. To mention a few: Josue was easily reachable at concierge and took care of us very well and once again was so sorry about the hotels mistakes and made it right with us in the end. Diego and Nacho at Breakfast (Venazu restaurant) provided amazing service and were very friendly. Eber (WET) and Daniel (WET TOO) both gave us great service whenever we ordered drinks or food at the pool and always a smile on their face. Armando at Chevy night was a great server and took great care of us. Oscar and Alesandro (sp?) in transportation were very good at picking us up in golf cart and getting us to our driver. Absolutely no complaints about the staff. They're wonderful. Overall we loved the hotel and staff. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel highly. The few small hiccups we experienced were not the biggest deal but certainly prevented me from giving the hotel 5 stars. We would definitely return in the future.…
Our experience at the W was all we could ask for. The staff was extremely attentive and made our stay great. The hotel cars are a great way to get around and the drivers are knowledgeable and helpful. One big shoutout to Alex at the Wet Bar. He was incredibly helpful and made our days even more relaxing. Great overall experience and we will be back.
The people at the W made our experience wonderful! For our week-stay, we enjoyed each day at the main restaurant, and we'd love to share how Abraham, Felipe, Luis Garcia, Brenda (and two other gentleman whose names escape us) made us feel like family, though they took care of every need with beautiful professionalism. Meeting new friends like these makes us want to return! Thank you!
My mom invited my husband & me & had paid with her points. At the front desk I gave my credit card for food & beverage, the rooms we were given we had to walk 25 to 30 stairs going underground with no elevator! We were told that is all they have, neither my mom or my husband could walk the stairs so when we are leaving, an extremely Rude & Impolite manger Ms YOLANI MUNOZ told me she charged my credit card for 2 rooms ! I had nothing to do with the reservation ! Will never go back 😕
Cons: The hotel needs to invest on improving the main road the hotel sits on. They should also find a way to keep rowdy wedding parties from taking over the whole hotel and disrupting the peace of other hotel guests at all hours. Personally I felt the quality in service decline as a result of the large wedding party. At least let other guests know ahead of time to plan accordingly and not book while weddings are going on. Pros: Amazing staff across the board. They are all genuinely friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to Laura, Luis, Alberto, El Six, Fernando, Ulises and to everyone else who made my stay even more magical!! The food here does not disappoint! Highly recommend asking the staff for suggestions you will be amazed by the special meals they have curated. Overall avoid wedding weekends and you will be in for the best experience.…
