We've visited Hotel Rancho San Cayetano many times since 8 years ago. The owners keep the place in great conditions, the staff is very helpful and nice. The restaurant food delicious. And best of all pet friendly. Highly recommended for a restful weekend and very close from Mexico City.

Beautiful, extensive grounds, terrific, comfortable rooms, and delicious fine French Cuisine. Lisette is a master and great attention is made to the food. Service and staff were attentive but unobtrusive. There are three absolutely lovely big dogs that roam about and who love attention from those who need a dog-fix! Owner Pablo is a decidedly gracious man and a dedicated...

We stayed two nights here as part of a visit to El Rosario Butterfly Reserve. The hotel made all the arrangements for our butterfly tour, which was fantastic, including driver, horses and a box lunch. The hotel has gorgeous accommodations spread around beautiful grounds. We had a beautifully decorated two BR apt., one bedroom downstairs the other in the loft....

There are some aspects of the hotel that are wonderful and some which are concerning. The good – Beautiful setting and grounds, cozy room, nice proximity to the butterflies, great dinners (a bit expensive but if you appreciate fine French cuisine, then worth it). The bad – Pablo, the owner, was unfriendly at best, unhelpful, and treated us poorly when...

Lisette and Pablo welcomed us to their rancho which is in fact a magnificent estate. The grounds are beautifully planted with trees, orchards and lawns. Most of the fresh produce that the kitchen uses is actually grown on the premises. The rooms have a rustic character and are very cozy. Both the breakfast and the dinner that we had were...

We have wanted to see the Butterflies in Michoacan for years and finally got a chance to do it. We stayed at Rancho Cayetano. The owners were so helpful with our concerns. Helped book our trip to El Rosario, packed a lunch for us, etc. Wonderful wonderful experience. But here's the thing. You could skip the butterflies and just go...

Loved it. Lisette (French) and Pablo (Mexican) were wonderful hosts. French music playing in the bar/restaurant. Wonderful food from Lisette. Rooms have fireplaces and beautiful views, coffee/tea in rooms and free WIFI. Pablo organizes the trips to the Butterfly Biosphere, Marcello our guide was great. Eating is family style if you want, we got to know some great people at...

On the recommendation of friends, we recently stayed at Rancho San Cayetano and were absolutely thrilled with our entire experience. The owners, Lisette and Pablo are the most gracious hosts, the accommodation is charming, the meals, fabulous and the attention to detail is extraordinary. We were there to see the Monarchs and Pablo arranged for visits to two separate sanctuaries:...

Even if you are trying to travel on a budget in Mexico, a stay at Rancho San Cayetano is worth a little extra for a night or two. Beautiful grounds and pleasant owners in an area so close to the Monarch preserves. Not a lot of options in Zitacuaro. Ranch San Cayetano will not disappoint.
