My Mexican traveling partner and I spent two days and three lovely evenings here with hosts Estela, a fabulously versed chef and her delightful American husband,Jon. The halfday cooking class gives one the chance to explore the delightful town of Tlaxcala just fifteen minutes away. The authenticity of the setting in true México allows one the delight of observing a... More

We spent 3 nights and 4 days with Jon and Estela and were treated like warm friends learning about Mexican cooking and the local culture. The food was amazing and often unexpected in type of ingredients used to produce the rich flavors. Each day we prepared about a half dozen dishes with Jon and Estella leading the team of the... My husband and I attended the school in last part of May. The food was very healthy and tasty. I think our favorite part of the day was having the best coffee ever outside on a beautiful patio with flowers everywhere, and fountains and birds singing. Then being served an amazing breakfast every day. Now that is my idea of... More

Estela and Jon's classes were fun and the food was delicious. We cooked every morning using the freshest ingredients, made 6-8 recipes, and ate them for lunch and dinner. With the exception of a few fried items (which were delectable-rellenos, bunuelos, etc.-worth the calories) the food was very healthy and, as Estela said they would be, the flavors were complex... Hola Jane, Thanks for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure to have you here and to cook with you for a week. It is always great to have someone here who is really interested in Mexican Cuisine. As you know it is really important to me that Pueblan cuisine does not get lost. I appreciate your help in passing... More

I am a self-described foodie and love to cook, so whenever I travel, I try to take a cooking class or two. I ran across Mexican Home Cooking School online and was immediately intrigued, as I have never gone on a trip specifically to learn how to cook. I contacted them via their website and Jon got back to me... More

Hi SunshynGrlSD Thank you for taking the time to write a review. When you get home and back to “real life” I know that the world takes over and it is an effort to sit down and write. So both Jon and I thank you for the effort. We really do try to provide a Home Cooking Experience and it... More

We came to have fun, learn something about Mexican cooking, and share an adventure with friends. We were not disappointed. Our hosts, Jon and Estela were warm and friendly. Estela has been cooking since she was quite young, learning from her mother as she worked in her parents' restaurant. She shared with us traditional meals, sauces, desserts and how she... More

Hola Eileen, It is wonderful to hear that you had such a good time here. Thank you for letting us know. Glad to hear that you like the trips and the after dinner conversations and all the other things that you mentioned that made your trip. Particularly, to introduce you to central Mexico was a pleasure. There really are two... More

If you enjoy cooking Mexican food and want a good understanding of cooking with chilis plus want time to enjoy the Puebla area, this cooking school is for you. Each day we cooked for about three hours, making our own lunch and dinner. Lunch was usually a soup and an entree and dinner was an entree and side. Everything was... More

I got to spend a week with Jon and Estele, learning how to make traditional Pueblan food. The trip as a whole was amazing. Jon arranged for private transportation for me to and from Mexico City, at a reasonable cost. The property itself was great, on the edge of a beautiful small lake on the outskirts of Tlaxcala. The room... More
