We spent two blissful weeks at this graceful family-run hotel for my 66th birthday, enjoying wonderfully comfortable beds, a lake view breakfast beneath the massive rubber tree in the garden (great Eggs Benedict) and a sweet little swimming pool and courtyard. Although the plaza, shops and market are walkable, the cobblestones can get rough, so we often took a taxi downtown at just 50 pesos. The staff was professional, friendly and efficient, and by the time we left, we felt like family. We will return for more Old World Charm!
Not a bad price because it included free breakfast, free parking, and the location was very good being on a dead end street to the water front . The grounds are lovely and it's only a short walk into the center of the village. However, my title of "Good Enough" is because the pillows were super hard and so high I couldn't even use them while sleeping. It would have been nice to have a coffee maker and a clock in the room. The desk staff were ok but the breakfast staff were very nice. Overall, I don't think I would stay here again.
We make an annual trip to Mexico and try to visit a new city each year, but always end our visit in Ajijic and stay at La Nueva Posada for a week or more. Its a wonderful hotel in a beautiful location and the owners and staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are large, well furnished and comfortable. The 300 series rooms have the best views of the lake. The restaurant is really nice with a great menu (try the chocolate cake) and helpful staff. We'll be there again next September.
Staying here 10 days while buying property- old fashioned inn like 100 years ago but with some amenities- there is mo heat and s/c because the rlevation is over 4000 feet- it is not fancy but it is clean and the staff are delightful people- price is right with a discount for cash to boot!
Three of us stayed here for 9 days to check out Ajijic as a possible retirement location. All of the staf are extremely nice and helpful. We had a nice room facing towards the lake. We had no fear of leaving out items when housekeeping was cleaning. Our room had half doors in the front, so we would open them and the balcony screen doors to get a nice breeze. If you want something like a fridge, fan or hairdryer don’t be afraid to ask. It’s close enough to walk everywhere. Fairly quiet unless you have loud neighbors like we did the first night, luckily they left!
