From start to finish our two week trip to Ajijic and stay at Casa Tres Leones was relaxing. We had opted not to rent a car so our host Emile arranged for a driver to meet us at GDL airport. Emile greeted us when we arrived at 1 a.m. and made sure we were settled in for the evening. We loved waking up to the sound of birds outside our room, the King Garden Suite. The room was a good size, with a comfortable king bed, ensuite bathroom, and changing area with bar fridge. A hot breakfast was served daily in addition to fresh fruit, juice, yogurt, muffins, and several cereals. Casa is on a slope so one can view the town and Lake Chapala from the dinning area in addition to the beautiful garden and swimming pool. We walked about 5 to 6 miles everyday to work up an appetite for dinner at the many restaurants in the surrounding area. We enjoyed all our meals and were pleasantly surprised by the Mexican wines we tried. The Mexican people were a delight, always polite and welcoming. We were fortunate to meet some really nice gringos visiting or living in Ajijic. In addition to our host Emile, the Lake Chapala Society was a good resource for local info. We used their ATM machine and had a few lunches there. Overall, we enjoyed our vacation in Ajijic and stay with Emile at Casa Tres Leones. We look forward to visiting again next winter.…
After host extraordinaire Emile announced that our recent stay at Casa Tres Leones was our sixth All the good words have been said…… Location, Fabulous. A comfortable walk to the village and the lake. The gardens and pool, exquisite. Views of the village and lake below, awesome. Sunrises, spectacular if you like to wake up early. 😉 Breakfasts, wonderful especially Sunday’s Blueberry Hot Cakes. And don’t get me started on Emile’s fabulous bran muffins! Rosa’s stunningly fast and efficient housekeeping. She’s amazing! What more can we say…Thanks again for another wonderful stay. Guess you'll have to book us in for our seventh stay next year Emile. The view and gardens are incredible, the room was great, the climate, perfect of course. The owners' hospitality makes Casa Tres Leones even more distinctive! Emile fixed incredible breakfasts for us each day, taking into account dietary needs and preferences. They provided invaluable advice about nearby sites and restaurants.... We simply felt pampered!
First time to Mexico. Excellent accommodations! Beautiful, quiet, great views and great location to lots of restaurants and shopping. Emile and Alix make sure you are well fed in the morning and are extremely accommodating for any needs. I used this place for a home base while on a motorcycle trip. They allowed me to park the bike in their garage and store some personal effects until I returned. A++++
What a wonderful experience at Tres Leones. Exquisite gardens, lovely rooms, setting, and delicious breakfast. When traveling we seek boutique accommodations and this was truly quite special and unique. Our hosts, Emil and Alix could not have been more gracious. We highly recommend Tres Leones. Karen
We just spent a month - Jan.-Feb’22 in this bit of paradise. Behind the walls is a treat for the senses. From beautifully manicured gardens & pool, to wonderful hospitality, to delicious daily full breakfast served on the terrace, to efficient housekeeping provided. Our host went above & beyond to assist with all our needs. Local restaurants are plentiful with amazing menus and reasonable prices.
Was really surprised at how gorgeous this place was. The views are stunning. The pool is impeccable. And the host was over-the-top friendly and accommodating. Next time I come to Ajijic, I'll head back here.
We recently had a family reunion in Ajijic (6 adults) and we stayed for a week at Casa Tres Leones. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our time there and how well we were treated by the owners, Emile and Alix. First, the rooms are really spacious and nice, with comfortable beds and amenities. The grounds are beautiful as well, with a clean pool (which we used a lot!) and, located on the high side of town, the deck has magnificent views of Lake Chapala. Emile made breakfast for us every day, and gave advice on where to visit and eat as well. He consistently went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable, arranging for a driver to take us on a tour of the town of Tequila, buying extra gluten free bread at the market for us to take home, and, when flight times changed at the last minute, again arranging for a driver so some in our group could spend the last day in Guadalajara instead of hanging out at the airport. If you are looking to spend time in the Lake Chapala area, Casa Tres Leones is an excellent place to stay!…
I have stayed in Ajijic many times, but my recent stay at Casa Tres Leones was by far the best. This gorgeous house has something for everyone, with a great selection of rooms that are all stunning. I stayed in the mirador suite, which in addition to all of the amenities that you would expect, has a beautiful roof lookout that gives you an incredible view of the entire area & lake. Emile & Alix are hospitable and professional and really made the difference between top notch and just another place to stay. This property has it all!
Couldn't be happier with our choice for a family vacation (three couples). If you can get the Mexican Lovers Suite, do it. The room is stunning, with views and a back patio and comfy chair and sofa, beautiful brick ceiling. The whole place is old Ajijic style -- reminded me of my grandparents' place there 50 years ago. The grounds and pool are spectacular and lush, and all the antique/artisan appointments in the rooms are charming. The Ken Edwards plates displayed in the kitchen are to die for. Emile, the host, was wonderful and cooked us hot breakfasts all week, which we ate on the lovely patio with a breeze and awesome view. He also arranged for his driver, Oscar, to take us to Tequila, which ended up being far less expensive and more fun than a charter tour. I felt very safe there, with good locks and security. Excellent maid service every day. Quiet and tranquil, but a quick walk down into the center of town. My only suggestion is that some umbrellas or shade by the pool would have been nice (we spent lots of time there). Can't wait to return! Hard to imagine there's a better spot to stay in Ajijic.…
