Stumbled onto the Carlyle Inn while visiting friends in Port Hope and stayed four nights. What a great find! The Inn has 10 unique rooms, a restaurant and a bar/pub all build into a former bank building. We had room #7 on the south side of the second floor. Spacious room, nicely decorated, comfortable, well maintained and spotless. The cleaning... More

I grabbed a quick bite to eat for lunch at the Carlyle. The food was typical bar type grub but was served in good time and was hot as well. If I were to return I would probably try the dining room instead of the bar, in hopes the food from the menu varied from that of the bar. The... More

We went to Carlisles for lunch. Server was okay. She gave us our menus. Returned a few minutes later to take our order even before asking us if we would like a drink. My husband had blue cheese burger. He enjoyed it but thought somewhat strong due to the blue cheese. I had seafood crepes. They weren't very hot, temperature... More

We've just returned from a 2-night stay at this lovely and favourite establishment! It had been a few years since our last visit- too long we both agreed. Situated one hour east of Toronto it's such a great getaway. The rooms have been refurbished since our last visit and are just lovely. We had requested a ground-floor room due to... More

Came here before the show at the Capitol. Great ambience and staff. Hubby and I were seated in the front dining room very nice. Service was great even though everyone seemed very busy. We had the nightly special. It was delicious. Afterwards we decided to have a glass of wine and dessert on the patio. It was like having two... More

Thank you for your glowing review. You have made us feel very special indeed. We always said that Port Hope was the best kept secret on the 401 highway! The production at the Capital Theatre of "Mama Mia" would have been the best upbeat way to end the evening. Thank you again for the review. More

We were pleasantly surprised with the Carlyle Inn even though our friends highly recommended it. The decor and ambiance of the main dining room takes you back in time to a restaurant that could be in early 1950s Morocco or Algeria. The terra cotta/red clay color of the walls blends beautifully with the drapery panels and window screen accents. While... More

We stayed at the Carlyle as a halfway stop in an Ontario Road trip. The hotel did not dissapoint, OUr room was spacious and well equipped. Although the bed was on the high end of "firm". We walked thru the town and enjoyed the beautiful historic buildings and homes in the neighbourhood. We ate dinner in the bistro and found... More

Been here many times and will go back again. Rooms are all very nice and the breakfast hits the spot. The neighbourhood in which it is located is beautiful and close to everything. If you are looking for a place to relax and be very comfortable this is the place to be.

A great atmosphere, wonderful waitress and delicious food. Substitutions made with no quibbles. The tiger shrimp cocktail was unique and tasty. Pork tenderloin was delicious as was the beef tenderloin special. A return visit is in order.

My family and I travelled to Port Hope to see the Crazy For You production playing at the Capitol theatre as my cousin is the lead. Before the show, we opted to have dinner at the Carlyle Inn. What a feast! The server Alyssa was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating for our time constraints. We had a party of 10 and... More
