A great atmosphere, wonderful waitress and delicious food. Substitutions made with no quibbles. The tiger shrimp cocktail was unique and tasty. Pork tenderloin was delicious as was the beef tenderloin special. A return visit is in order.

My family and I travelled to Port Hope to see the Crazy For You production playing at the Capitol theatre as my cousin is the lead. Before the show, we opted to have dinner at the Carlyle Inn. What a feast! The server Alyssa was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating for our time constraints. We had a party of 10 and... More

We went to Port Hope for a weekend getaway, stayed at the Carlyle Inn and also dined at the Bistro. The room was on the 3rd floor and was a very nice room with high ceilings and antique furniture. Very clean and comfortable. The Bistro very nice also and we had the Prime Rib dinner which was delicious. The staff were... More

Had dinner in the bank vault. 4 people max. Dinner was not disappointing. It was a week day but we made reservations just in case. I'd like to go back and stay at the Inn and enjoy the Carlyle for a night. My comment is based on dinner only which was very nice.

Visited early April with my son and daughter. Arrived late in the evening and was met by Christine at reception. She made the check in process stress free and made us feel like we were being welcomed into a family home. The room was huge, very comfortable and I must say, I had the best night sleeps whilst staying at... More

My wife and I were looking for a special place to celebrate our Anniversary near Toronto. I came across the Carlyle Inn and thought it looked very nice. Right from the start I was treated with such class and respect. No waiting on hold on a 800 number but a chance to speak directly with the owner, Dave, who looked... More

Hotel has loads of charm. Nice big room, very clean and cosy, bonus was the Kuerig coffee machine in the room. Four course dinner was excellent, with a good choice of wines by the glass. Presentation was terrific. Overall, very good value for money.

I thank Dave for his flexibility in accommodating my last minute request, and for his thoughtfulness in offering a ride to the train station during the coldest winter night. I definitely had a relaxing, enjoyable mini vacation, and am looking forward to going back to enjoy Carlyle's hospitality again!

If you plan a stay at or near Port Hope, Ontario, Canada you owe it to yourself to experience the hospitality of Dave and Jeanne Henderson. The food, lodging and good vibes qualify this establishment at the top of my list in the Port Hope / Cobourg vicinity. However, if you are fond of junk food and trucker's hotels you... More
