McCreary’s Beach Resort is a cottage resort and is nestled on Mississippi Lake; minutes from the historic Town of Perth and only 45 minutes from downtown Ottawa. There is always something fresh and exciting happening on our resort. Children are building sandcastles, learning to swim, catching their first fish, roasting marshmallows and making lasting friendships that develop around campfires. We offer fun-filled organized activities for the kids and whole family to enjoy; from crafting activities, to bingo and so much more. Mississippi Lake is known for its fishing, swimming and boating. There are a few islands where our families like to drop anchor and picnic. Our resort cottagers have free use of kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and a paddle boat. We also have a pontoon boat and a Skipper who is happy to offer pontoon excursions or tubing adventures.

Close to Ottawa. If you have little ones you will not be disappointed - good at structures etc for them . Family get away - beach, salt water pool, gym, hot tub & community events. Enjoyable ! Rent a boat, paddle, relax, participate in community activities.

I spent a weekend here with my family of 5. We initially wanted to book one of the new modern beautiful looking cottages that are owned privately but located on the resort. When I called the resort, I asked if the cottages were close to the beach. I was told it may be a walk and that if I wanted, I could book one of the condos that was owned by the resort (Great blue resort) which were located steps away from the beach. I asked if they could send photos of the condo and of course was sent only 4 of the best looking photos. We were so excited but when we arrived we were extremely disappointed. We were given condo 2B. We appreciated the rustic (more like dated) look but this was so dirty and dark. Bugs and food on the floor, ants all over the counters, fans covered in an inch of dust, dead bugs on the window sills, an inch of dust on all the blinds, lamps were broken and one was broken in half and dangling. etc etc. We requested to be moved to another condo if a better one was available. We were given 1B which was about the same level of dirtiness as 2B except there was more sunlight. We had to move all are stuff from the other condo and it was a very hot day. The staff member at the front helped us out and mopped the condo for us when we left to the pool because she felt so bad about the food and dirt all over the floor. Honestly these condos just need a little TLC and very cosmetic fixes and they would be great! Maybe an extra hour of cleaning per condo, change the lamps, etc. This stay was not cheap and honestly I was ready to lose the money and leave on Saturday night because I was dreading another sleep in the condo. Besides the stay, everything was wonderful! The staff, the lake, the beach, the pool. I would recommend this place but I would definitely stay at one of the cottages next time! You could not pay us to stay in the condo again!

McCreary's Beach Resort was a wonderful place to go with the family. We found a travel deal on www.dealfind.com for McCreary's We stayed in a Rustic Condo that slept 8 (3 bedrooms and pull out couch). There were no pictures of the condos anywhere so I have included some here. It was definitely a rustic feel but very clean and offered everything that you would need in the way of appliances and dishes. We were on the middle level of the condo which had a great deck overlooking the lake and beach area. It is a small family resort with a mix of rental condos, rental cottages and mostly owned modern cottages. The beach was shallow and sandy, perfect for the kids. Free canoe and kayak use was included and we took full advantage. The lake is large but wasn't busy and we felt very safe letting the kids go out and experiment with them. We fished right off the dock and caught a great pike and bass. The staff was friendly and courteous. Overall, had a wonderful time!! Only complaint would be that you have to share a BBQ with 2 other units in the condos, no private fire pit and our mattresses were a little hard in one room and a little lumpy in the other. Still better then a tent though. Highly recommend it! On a separate note, if you do come to McCreary's you have to do the 1/2 hour trip to Almonte and eat at J.R.'s Restaurant. They have a Yorkie Beef Dip to die for. By far the best beef dip I have ever had!

We had a great time at this resort. We were a group of 4 families, all staying in the newly renovated beach front condos. The condos were clean and spacious and had views of the beach and lake.
The beach was clean, sandy and very shallow for the little ones. You could rent kayaks and paddle boards, fish off the smaller dock or lounge on the beach chairs. In the evening they had music on the beach and bonfires.
We had amazing weather and so didn’t use the indoor pool much, but it’s a great option for rainy or cooler days.
The staff was great as well! Any issues we had were handled quickly and they worked hard to make it a great experience for everyone. The staff organized activities for the kids as well which was great.
It is also pet friendly and our pup received a welcome basket full of toys and treats.
The location is great too as it is convenient to get to from the Ottawa area. We will be back!

Booked a condo for Canada Day for my family in March. Just received a call that all their condos will be under constructions and cannot be rented. So now my reservation is cancelled. Poor management and organization of this resort cost my family a vacation.
Warning if you book at this resort don't expect them to honor the reservation.

We stayed in the newly renovated beach flats. They were very modern, clean. The staff were amazing : Jackie, Shawn , Hannah, Alana, Alexis and Emily . The activities for the kids were so fun . Shawn and Emily brought great energy and smiles at all times. Fireworks on the water were top notch . Indoor pool was great . I loved it so much I booked it for next year . Highly recommend!

We stayed here last year in late May and although they said they weren't open fully for the season, we could rent a condo. We had to be moved 3 times due to lack of heat. This year we decided to try again and rented a "rustic" cottage. MISTAKE! Dirty, ill-equipped and noisy when the weekend warriors get here. The vertical blind on the patio door fell apart every time we tried to open or close it! You have to bring your own bedding and towels, which was fine but they should also tell you to bring clean dishes (or be prepared to wash the ones here), pots and pans and be prepared to wipe everything down before you use it. We rented for a week and for the price we paid, we expected at least an acceptable level of cleanliness. We will never rent here again or recommend McReary's to anyone.

Response from Brendak1000, Director of Operations at McCreary's Beach Resort, Perth
Responded Sep 6, 2014
Hello Jane, Thank you for your feedback on a trip you took to McCrearys Beach Resort in Perth. We always appreciate feedback and recommends for improvements. Our rustic cottages are traditional log cabins which have been on the resort for over 50 years and may not have met your lifestyle expectations. We also have newer model park model cottages available for rent. We do check our rental inventory upon each check out to ensure we have enough supplies and equipment for our guests. We also have linens and additional supplies available upon asking. We are not sure what you are referring to as the weekend warriors, as we do not have transient camping and most weekends are filled with young families coming up to enjoy their weekends at the beach. We don't have late night wild parties or anything of that nature going on at the resort and if you experience such distractions, our Resort General Manager resides on the premises and would be happy to handle any situation to your satisfaction. We do apologize for the vertical blind which could quickly be replaced with curtains. We also apologize if your cottage was dirty. We have worked hard this season to clean, inspect and recheck our cleanliness activities and will ensure our team is aware of your valuable feedback. Thank you again for your feedback and we will work harder to make our guest experiences more enjoyable.

When the resort wants your business, everything is fine. Once you paid your money, they changed their attitudes. Do not recommend anybody to do business with such a deceitful organization. My experience has been absolutely terrible. Please stay away.

We wrote to explain all the problems and simply requested a reply with explanation. No reply so left us no choice but to warn others.
This is not somewhere you want to stay. From mouse droppings to visible lack of maintenance literally everywhere this place needs a major makeover.

McCreary's Beach Resort sits along the banks of Mississippi Lake, comprising mostly cottages (privately owned) and rustic condos or rustic cottages, which can be rented.
Sure enough, it's an idyllic and secluded setting, with a small sandy beach and large playing area for the kids. The condo's offer a view over the lake (we were on the top floor) and the surrounding area is pretty packed in with the more modern cottages, which are offered to purchase.
The 'club house' includes a cafe (food delivery is slow, but quality excellent) with an outdoor terrace. It was never busy when we were there. The 'shop' carries limited supplies of foodstuffs, snacks and bare necessities. Since Perth itself is only 10-15mins drive away, you can stock up there and rely on the 'shop' for emergencies.
There's a 'play room' inside the clubhouse which is pretty much in it's original state also but with a few added modern features (like a Wii for example). In addition, there's a large indoor pool + jacuzzi which looked in great condition, but unused by us.
The condo we rented was well appointed although in it's original state, including old but solid appliances in the kitchen, original bathroom and 'rustic' furniture. It had been recently painted and the floor was relatively new. Mattresses also seemed to be relatively new. Dishes and whatnot are supplied in the kitchen, except some of ours had not been washed.
Air conditioning is provided in the form of a mobile unit fitted into the wall, along with a CRT (non LCD) TV and simple DVD player. Coffee machine, kettle, toaster, pans etc are also provided.
It's a pretty steep climb up the stairs if you're on the highest level so be prepared if you don't travel light. Parking is diagonally opposite to the condo. BBQ is supplied though we never used it as someone else was hogging it.
Entertainment wise (not the place to go for an adrenalin rush), there was live music advertized on the weekends, canoes/kayaks to use on the lake and fishing boats available for rent ($100/day). We rented a boat as part of the 'package' we purchased - the boat was new with 25HP engine which took us around the lake in its entirety in 1.5 hours. Better for fishing of course.
Perth is close by and there's a good selection of restaurants and shops. Ottawa is about 45 minutes away in the opposite direction.
Service provided is generally good - staff in the clubhouse are friendly and responsive. The resort itself seems to be well maintained (except the condo's need a coat of paint). Beach and kids park are raked over (but it would be an added bonus if the poo left by the geese is removed from the kids play area). Since most of the properties are privately owned, visitors have their own 'agenda' - this is a place to chill out and enjoy summer.
Negative would be the price - you could easily stay in a 4 star hotel for the same $ (albeit without the same view) in the summer months.
Overall, if you don't mind the rustic features and 'aged' look and want to escape for a few days, this is a great place for you. Sit by the lake and watch the world go by......
